Movie Reviews:
🌹 "Watched Warming Up to You. It's family friendly and really cute. Cindy and Chris are great together, once again." ~Allie B
🌹 "Warming Up to You is a light-hearted and fun family-friendly comedy/romance. Christopher Russell and Cindy Busby have been in many movies together and have good chemistry. I enjoyed watching this movie with my 13-year old daughter." ~Anonymous
🌹 "Warming Up to You is sweet and fun and made me actually laugh-out-loud a time or two! Enjoyed seeing Cindy Busby and Christopher Russell together again. It's obvious (as others said above) they have an easy-going chemistry together. Also, it's a great movie for encouraging exercise and a healthy diet. Loved Cindy's pretty pink dress near the end of the movie (seen in the poster above). Overall, it's a delightful watch and family-friendly!" ~Net
🌹 "I enjoyed Warming Up to You and Road Trip Romance." ~dstoutholcomb
🌹 "Finally got around to watching Warming up to You, and I loved it! So goofy. Felt nice to see a new, clean Hallmark movie for a change." -Maria
🌹 "I didn't care for Warming Up To You, or especially Romance To The Rescue because of the gay reference. Other than that I would have kept Romance To The Rescue. (sigh)" ~Namegirl
Movie: Road Trip Romance
Starring: Natalie Hall, Corey Sevier
Premieres: Saturday, May 14, 2022
Storyline: An escalating series of unfortunate events keeps delaying a young woman’s journey (Hall) to her sister’s wedding -- a journey she is forced to take with the guy (Sevier) who was her biggest rival in high school.
Movie Reviews:
🌹 "Sad to say it had its sprinkling of wokeness. I guess anything from now on from Hallmark will have its interjection of things that don’t really add anything to the story. Longing for story’s that aren’t cookie cutter themes with predictable endings." ~JoCo
🌹 "What did you think of Road Trip Romance? I thought that Road Trip Romance was terrible." ~Chris
🌹 "I'm sure somebody enjoyed "Road Trip Romance," but it wasn't me. In fact, it was one of my least favorite Hallmark movies ever. The part where the couple is in the small quirky town with the Renaissance Festival was just bizarre. But, it was family friendly. ~Amy G.
🌹 "Road Trip Romance.... I truly enjoyed this film. It was so sweet and funny. Loved the Renaissance Fair and all the kind people. All of it was great, especially loved the kindness and forgiveness she shows to Della. And it was 100% friendly!! And so much chemistry between the too! I thought the actress who played Della looked a lot like Alexa PenaVega if you ignore the curly hair and I thought the actress who plays the bride looked a lot like Julie Gonzalo. Almost like they could be sisters! Another thing I thought was funny... during the Renaissance, no one was using electricity, but the women obviously used curling irons. ;)" ~Abigail
🌹 "I agree with someone who wrote that Road to Romance was terrible. One of the worst HM movies I've seen. The female lead was not anything as good an actress as most HM channel has as their lead." ~Anonymous
🌹 "I enjoyed Warming Up to You and Road Trip Romance." ~dstoutholcomb
Movie: Romance to the Rescue
Starring: Andrea Brooks, Marcus Rosner, Nathan Witte
Premieres: Saturday, May 21, 2022
Storyline: Trevor (Witte), the new manager at the grocery store where Kyra (Brooks) works, seems to check off all the boxes when it comes to what she’s looking for in love. When her well-meaning co-worker tells dog-loving Trevor that Kyra has an agility-trained dog, she plays along. Trevor is excited for Kyra to enter her dog in the upcoming agility contest the store is sponsoring, leaving her with a canine quandary -- she must adopt a dog and get him competition ready, stat. With the help of Mark (Rosner), the head of the dog rescue, she may pull it off and learn some lessons of her own along the way.
Movie Review:
🌹 "Romance to the Rescue in the first 10 minutes has a guy talking to the main character about the other guys he dates." -Anonymous
🌹 "I didn't care for Warming Up To You, or especially Romance To The Rescue because of the gay reference. Other than that I would have kept Romance To The Rescue. (sigh)" ~Namegirl
HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES
"MAY MOVIE LINE-UP"
All premieres are at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Movie: Heart of the Matter
Starring: Aimee Teegarden, Gail O'Grady, Andrew Zachar, Chandler Massey
Premieres: Sunday, May 15, 2022
Storyline: Andie (Teegarden) is a cardiologist who is devastated by the accidental death of a patient (Massey). As she and his grieving mother (O’Grady) overcome their sorrow through forgiveness, they learn that acceptance leads to hope.
Movie Reviews:
❤ "Heart of the Matter is, probably the most emotional HMM movie I've ever seen! And it's also clean. So, if you're interested, might be best to have some tissues handy." -Maria
❤ "Heart of the Matter: Family friendly, but what a heavy topic! A doctor loses her patient because of negligence on her part, and she suffers emotionally for it. Plus, the patient's mother is angry and sues the doctor. Aimee Teegarden has been great in other movies, but they don't hold a candle to her performance in this one! The emotions and the suffering she shows...you can't help but suffer along with her! I recommend watching it if you are in the mood for a very serious, non-light-hearted movie, and as Maria said, you may want to have some tissues handy." ~Mark 25
❤"I thought that Heart of the Matter was a great film." ~Chris
❤"I started to watch Heart of the Matter. Got 20 minutes into it, but had to stop watching because it was so sad. I really like the special needs young man. I was glad to hear this film is family friendly. I just couldn’t watch anymore. Did she get married in the end?? And Maria... you are so right. Her acting was terrific, and I only saw a little bit. It did make me grateful that my Dad got there in time during his heart attack last fall (he is doing really well, BTW. Thank you for all the prayers. God is so good!" ~Abigail
❤"At last, a movie with heart. Could be relatable to anyone that has faced loss." ~JoCo
❤"Heart of the Matter was a very intense movie, great acting all around. But, for some reason I just couldn't get into it. I watched the whole movie, but almost turned it after about 20 minutes. It's not one I will watch again!" ~Joyce in Carolina

Movie: Rip in Time
Starring: Torrey DeVitto, Niall Matter
Premieres: Sunday, May 22, 2022
Storyline: Sarah (DeVitto) is an organic farmer who meets a man (Matter) named Rip Van Winkle Jr., who claims to be from 1787. Soon, she discovers old-fashioned romantic feelings that might be just as crazy as his story.
Movie Reviews:
🌹 "I just watched Rip in Time, and it is mostly family friendly. I only say "mostly" because in one scene Sarah tells Rip about Henry's father and refers to him as a "baby daddy." She explains that they were never married and that it is "very common nowadays." So parents may want to be aware of that. Rip does express disgust, however, that any man would leave a woman who is with child. Overall, I loved this movie though! From the commercials, I was afraid it might be cheesy or silly, but it wasn't. Niall Matter was so dashing as a gentleman from a bygone era, and he had great chemistry with DeVitto. It was also funny in all the right places.A new favorite for me!" ~melnewlife
🌹 "Rip in Time.... I did kinda enjoy this film and it was family friendly. No same sex issues, I mean. I've always had a fancy to time-travel themed books/movies. I loved the kind gentleman he was and his acting was great. I didn't like the kiss in the rain. Seemed too sensual. I wouldn't want my younger siblings to see that. I also did not appreciate the scene when she tells Rip she was never married before she had a baby and never intended to. I know that's the way our sinfull world is now, but it's hard to see them embrace that willingly. For these serious reasons I will not watch again." ~Abigail
🌹 "I loved Rip In Time. I couldn't record it because of Storms on the Saturday and Sunday it was shown. Happily for me I recorded it this past Thursday. It's family friendly, except when she tells Rip that she wasn't married to Henry's father. The cast was great together. Casey Manderson, Ted the deputy, wasn't vicious when telling Rip that he needed to leave." ~Namegirl

After reading through the storylines above, I think I'm most looking forward to seeing the new rom-com premieres on the Hallmark Channel, however the time travel story coming to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries also piques my interest.
I know many may be surprised to see Cindy Busby and Christopher Russell paired together again. They have wonderful chemistry in their prior films, Love in the Forecast and Chasing Waterfalls. Hopefully, this one will be just as cute, but I do wonder if viewers will think their pairing is over-done.
Speaking of good pairings, I'm just loving the idea of Natalie Hall and Corey Sevier together. Natalie is always so fun and energetic on screen and Corey is a favorite of mine, as well. In fact, I was just recently watching him in a movie on another network and was thinking how much much I would like to see him more - and then this movie popped up in Hallmark's May schedule. I'm beyond thrilled, to say the least!
As for Andrea Brook's new movie, Romance to the Rescue, you may recall, she mentioned this movie in our interview, just a few weeks ago. At the time she couldn't mention where it was airing, but she did reveal it would be coming soon. It's great to finally know we will be seeing this movie about pet adoption on Hallmark in May!

Note: I haven't pre-screened these movies. If you like, you can share a movie review in comments after the movie premieres. Thank you!

Blessings to you all, Net
What a great start to April - this is a fantastic line-up for May by Hallmark - they only had 2 new movies on the main channel last year.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that Aimee Teegarden is probably my favourite Hallmark actress at the minute - her face is so expressive.
The synopsis for Heart Of The Matter doesn't give much away so it will be interesting how that movie develops, no mention of a love interest.
The brilliant My Family Christmas Tree was let down slightly by the lack of definition in the relationship between Aimee and Andrew Walker.
While I'm iffy about time-travel movies Rip In Time sounds intriguing.
The movie that most captures my interest is Road Trip Romance - Natalie Hall and Corey Sevier have been undervalued by Hallmark for a long time - this sounds like a rip-roaring good old-fashioned Rom.Com - can't wait for it - Florence
Interesting background to Warming Up To You with Cindy Busby and Christopher Russell.
ReplyDeleteThis was originally shown in Portugal last October under the title Love In Action - Florence
Looks pretty good. -Maria
ReplyDeleteWhat of these movies are you looking forward seeing?
ReplyDeleteWow, what a variety.
ReplyDeleted
I’m most excited for Rip in Time. I love Niall Matter and I think he will be fun to watch in this role. I imagine it might be similar in nature to A Timeless Christmas, which also had a unique and similar plot.
ReplyDeleteNot a Cindy Busby Fan so do not watch her movies. Looking forward to the other movies.
ReplyDeleteDid you like A Godwink Christmas: Meant for Love where Cindy Busby has MS?
DeleteChris, That is personally one of my favorite Cindy Busby movies. I also like many of her other movies, as well... Royal Hearts, Autumn Stables, Unleashing Mr. Darcy, Marrying Mr. Darcy, Love in the Forecast, Heart of Down Under, Chasing Waterfalls, Toying with the Holidays, Joy for Christmas, etc...
DeleteI'm looking forward to this new movie! :)
I like Cindy Busby; she seems very sweet!
DeleteRoad Trip Romance with Corey Sevier and Natalie Hall is my pick. Love watching Corey Sevier in anything.
ReplyDeleteI’m still waiting for Meet Me in New York
ReplyDeleteStarring Brooke Nevin & Corey Server
Scented by Love
Marshall Williams
I hope it Hallmark
Bummer if there’s no June Weddings
Those movie will air in June
Expect for May 28, 2022
I'm hoping for those two movies too but if they air anywhere it will surely be on UPtv.
DeleteWaiting a bit apprehensively to see what UP will air in May - they only had 2 Rom.Coms last year - Florence
I can't wait to see "A Rip in Time." Love this plot and I love watching Niall Matter(almost typed Nick Miller ;) So glad he joined the Aurora Mysteries. He is always involved in a good mystery and such a gentleman and good to Aurora. So nice to see.
ReplyDeleteI love all of Natalie's movies as well. Loved the food truck one the most. Think it was called "You Bacon Me Crazy."
Not interested in the Cindy Busby/Christopher Russell one. Thanks for the updates!
ReplyDeleteMisty
I didn't care for Warming Up To You, or especially Romance To The Rescue because of the gay reference. Other than that I would have kept Romance To The Rescue. (sigh)
DeleteI loved Rip In Time. I couldn't record it because of Storms on the Saturday and Sunday it was shown. Happily for me I recorded it this past Thursday. Namegirl, Thank you for sharing these 3 reviews with us. It's great to get your thoughts on these movies, especially Rip In Time. I'll definitely have to watch it sometime.
DeleteI posted your reviews above. Again, thank you! :)
Are you looking forward to seeing Love, Classified which premieres the day before Easter?
ReplyDeleteChris, I'm not watching that movie based on the content.
DeleteSame here; it also seems very contrived and obviously stupidly woke. I hope that Hallmark gets past this pandering to loudmouthed special interests.
DeleteKen, Unfortunately, many of the movies and TV shows today are created sadly with a woke agenda, even... as we've seen with Disney, children's programming. I'm hoping ratings on that sort of content are lower than the family-friendly shows, so they can see the error of their ways.
DeleteIt’s finally literary movies for Hallmark & I hope GAC Family does too
ReplyDeleteRip Van Winkle is literary
I wonder about Nancy Drew & The Hardy Boy Mysteries for Hallmark on HMM
ReplyDeleteBailey Madison as Nancy Drew
The Hardy Boys are Brothers or Cousins
If someone says there’s spin-off Nancy Drew & The Hardy Boys - I think actually a young girl to solve cases of mysteries
Great idea!
DeleteIf I was asked who my favourite Hallmark actress was I think I'd have to say currently Aimee Teegarden.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused though about Heart Of The Matter.
It is described as Drama/ Romance so I was excited when I saw that Chandler Massey was in the cast as I really liked him in Next Stop Christmas but reading above he is the patient who dies.
Net, who is the actor photographed above as the airline Captain - he would look to be Aimee's love interest?
I have a sinking feeling he could turn out to be the boy's father and I 'll be ready for screaming if it's another previously married lead - Florence
Watched Warming Up to You. It's family friendly and really cute. Cindy and Chris are great together, once again.
ReplyDeleteAllie B, Thank you so much for sharing this review with us! Good to hear how much you enjoyed this movie.
DeleteI posted your review above. ^

ReplyDeleteAmy G, Thank you for this review! I agree, there were moments in this movie that were very bizarre. While I liked the leads, I wish their road trip could've been written differently. And... that crazy bridesmaid! Don't get me started on her.
DeleteI shared your review above ^
Hallmark better sit up and take notice.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the theme of Heart Of The Matter was too heavy for most viewers.
Overnight viewing figures were a total disaster of less than 600k - I think this makes it the least watched Hallmark movie ever.
Meanwhile on the main channel Road Trip Romance only pulled in a dismal 1.52m.
Worrying times.
Florence
Yeah, Florence... those ratings are not good at all. Yikes! Thank you for pointing these out. I can't imagine they will be much better when people become even more busy with Summer vacation. Very interesting, indeed.
DeleteI am so glad someone commented on "Romance to the Rescue." I canceled the planned recording because it surely is not family friendly. The comments are so important to me! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJudy, I appreciate you sharing how much the reviews mean to you. I'm truly grateful to everyone who visits here and shares with us.
DeleteThank you for being such a loyal follower. I'm so glad you're a part of this *It's a Wonderful Movie* family! God bless! :)

ReplyDeletemelnewlife, Thank you for letting us know. I wonder why they included that in the story? Usually, they don't have situations like that in Hallmark movies. I'm guessing it was to show a difference in the time periods, but still I'm not crazy about it.
DeleteOther then that comment, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the rest of the movie. Since it's a new favorite for you, I'm going to be sure and check it out sometime.
Thank you, again, for sharing with us. I posted your review above.
Finally got around to watching Warming up to You, and I loved it! So goofy. Felt nice to see a new, clean Hallmark movie for a change. -Maria
ReplyDeleteMaria, Glad to hear you enjoyed it, too! It's definitely a fun one! :)
DeleteI posted your review above. Thank you! :)
Thanks to the reviews here I won't be watching Rip In Time.
ReplyDeleteI'm personally not a fan of any movies with single mothers to begin with.
If there are some same sex-couples provided they are not intrusive or central to the plot then while not liking it I can live with it.
However, I don't like that Hallmark is promoting someone who has a child outside marriage who is central to the plot and it is almost as if they are throwing it in our face.
Just illustrates the changed days at the Channel - very disappointing - Florence
Florence, I find that particular storyline troubling, as well, although, I'm glad she gave birth to the child. I just wonder where they might take the next movie. Will they continue to ease into the idea that intimacy outside of marriage is acceptable, as well. It does seem to open up a whole new can of worms.
