    1. Thank you for sharing! I hadn't seen that one, yet, but had been previously waiting and watching for it to appear! I just added it to the 'Summer in the City' post!

The poster looks nice, but I was a little surprised not to see Marc Bendavid in the picture, too.

Here's a link to it, for those who haven't seen it, yet:

One of the many reasons why I love Hallmark Christmas movies -- and especially the entire Countdown to Christmas marathon, as a whole -- is because they set a certain mood and tone for my holiday season. The snowy scenes, twinkling lights, whimsical Santas, snowball fights, Christmas songs, stately Christmas trees, ice skating, etc., all work to bring me, the viewer, into a winter wonderland of sorts -- something that I don't get here in California. Each movie is like a little escape -- a trip to an idyllic Christmasy world where everything is magical and joyful.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am not a summer person. I hate hot weather. I hate being out in the sun. I want summer to be over the second it begins, and then I count the days until it ends. But in the case of "Summer Villa," I felt like it took most of the good parts of summer -- or the good things associated with summer -- and created a little summer vacation in a 2-hour package. I felt like it was a bit of an escape. Although the story was not really about anyone taking a vacation in the traditional sense, the movie embodied a lot of the things that would make for a great sojourn to the French countryside. So, for a short time, I could forget about my intense aversion to summer and feel transported to a place where summer is perfect.

That's ultimately what I want when I watch a Hallmark movie with a seasonal theme or story line -- I want to feel transported to that setting, and I think that "Summer Villa" was successful on that level.

Also, Hilarie Burton and Victor Webster worked well together. Their characters got off to a rocky start but it didn't take long for them to find some common ground, and then actually take time to get to know each other. I think the ending left some questions (such as what was going to happen to the restaurant), but maybe, if we're lucky, those will be answered somehow, somewhere down the road.
