Happy Birthday Doris Day!
Sunday ~ April 3rd!
Doris Day is one of my Favorite Actresses! She and I share the same Birthday ~ April 3rd... so that makes it Extra Sweet!
Today, I thought I would share "My Favorite Doris Day Movies".
Here are the Films with their DVD synopsis:
Move Over Darling
Five years after losing his first wife Ellen (Doris Day) at sea, Nick (James Garner) is finally ready to have her declared legally dead, get remarried and settle down to a peaceful second marriage! But wedded bliss becomes marital mayhem when Ellen turns up alive - with a hilarious, hair-brained scheme to win back her husband, put a stop to the honeymoon and give first love a second chance at happily-ever-after!
The Thrill of it All
Doris Day and James Garner star in this breezy comedy about what happens when your 15 minutes of fame finally arrives-and turns your life upside down!
Dr. Gerald Boyer (Garner) and his lovely wife Beverly (Day) are living the American dream. But their suburban bliss turns to media-driven frenzy when Beverly is selected as the national advertising spokeswoman for "Happy Soap". As her career begins to skyrocket, her neglected husband is increasingly put out by the fact that when his family does get to see her, it's on TV!
Please Don't Eat the Daises
A sunny day: Doris Day copes with home, hubby anditheimommy track!Kate Mackay (Doris Day) has four boys who someday may lend their names to hurricanes. A monstrosity of a country fixer-upper that needs its lower fixed too. And a poison-pen, drama-critic hubby (David Niven) who sees plays under the worst possible circumstances - by being the audience.
Kate hags in through thick and thicker in this jovial comedy from the bestseller by playwright Jean Kerr. Day brings her trademark radiance to the goings-on and to the songs Please Don't Eat the Daises and Any Way the Wind Blows. Spouse Niven finds his hawk-like critic's eye clouded when a production of a play he wrote decades earlier may bring about his comeuppance. With Janis Paige, Spring Byington and Richard Haydn on hand for snappy comic support, Please Don't Eat the Daisies is breezy family fun.
A Great Collection...
It's A Great Feeling
Doris plays a waitress trying to break into pictures in a merry moviemaking spoof with swell songs, Hollywood and Warner Bros. backlot locals and some surprising star cameos. Tea For Two
Day and Gordon MacRae are two for tea in the, No, No, Nanette-inspired romp that has her saying "no" to everything to win a bet. The magical score includes the title tune, "DO, Do, Do, I Only Have Eyes For You" and "I Want To Be Happy."
April In Paris
Lady Day is dynamite - brassy chorine Dynamite Jackson - when she's mistakenly named a goodwill ambassador to France in a musical frolic costarring limber-limbed Ray Bolger.
The Tunnel Of Love
Hanky-panky hubbub awaits Doris and hubby Richard Widmark in this sexy, witty comedy about a couple's frustrating attempts to adopt a child, costarring Gig Young and directed by Gene Kelly
Starlift
Red-white-and-blue fun abounds as Doris Day, Gordon MacRae, James Cagney, Gary Cooper, Virginia Mayo, Jane Wyman, Randolph Scott and others perform for - or just shoot the breeze with - starstruck flyboys in uniform.
Another Great Collection...

Day and Danny Thomas romantically collaborate in this affectionate biography of tunesmith Gus Kahn. A treasure chest of standards like It Had To Be You, Makin' Whoopee and the title tune.
On Moonlight Bay
Booth Tarkington's Pernod stories inspired this musical feast of Americana ideally casting Day and Gordon MacRae as lovebirds in a quaint Indiana town on the eve of World War I.
By The Light Of The Silvery Moon
Day and MacRae are back together in top tune-crooning form for the further adventures of a small-town family turning the corner from World War I into the Roaring '20s.
Lucky Me
You're in luck when Day, Phil Silvers and Nancy Walker go on a tuneful spree to help Broadway composer Robert Cummings mount a show. Songs by Calamity Jane's Oscar®-winning team.
With Six You Get Eggroll
Keeping this family together isn't child's play! The effervescent Doris Day (Pillow Talk) and rugged Brian Keith (The Parent Trap) star in a comedy romp that focuses on love and marriage, and the trials and tribulations of an instant family! Day, in her last feature-film role, plays Abby McClure, an independent single mom with three rambunctious sons. Keith portrays Jake Iverson, the father of a headstrong 18-year-old daughter (Barbara Hershey of Beaches). When Abby and Jake meet, fall in love and marry, it's a union perfectly suited for towels marked "His" and "Hers" - that is, until his and her kids bring chaos and turmoil into the house as they attempt to blend into a single family unit. George Carlin (making his feature-film debut), Pat Carroll (The Little Mermaid), Jamie Farr (TV's M*A*S*H) and Alice Ghostley (Grease) so-star in a spirited, laugh-filled contemporary story involving tangled family ties.
I hope you enjoy some of these Movies, too! There are several Doris Day Movies being played this month on TCM, so you'll want to check the Family TV Schedule to see when they are on!
