She feels like Cordelia, the heroine from her favorite series of children's books written by Hazel Holley. What promises to be a perfect week is complicated when Sabrina meets Ian Turner (Sherwood), a handsome British visitor, at the hotel bar. When Ian assumes Sabrina is another wealthy guest at the hotel, she doesn't correct him – a decision she doesn't regret after learning that Ian is a member of the British aristocracy. Or so she thinks. The truth is that Ian is not a wealthy lord but is the personal secretary of Lord Spencer Braxton. Ian is in town for the holidays to oversee the installation of an exhibit featuring the Braxton Royal Jewels at the Avalon Museum. As the week unfolds, Sabrina shows Ian Christmas in New York and the two start to fall for each other."

Across the street, St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church is quick to open its doors and offer shared space for the holidays. With the last night of Hanukkah and Christmas Eve falling on the same day this year – something that rarely happens – the reverend and rabbi choose to offer a joint service for their congregations. But that means Nikki Roberts (D’Orsay), St. Joseph’s youth choir director, must team up with Jake Cohen (Epstein), the substitute youth choir director from Temple Beth Am, and put on a single music program. These two are old high school rivals, and together, they’re ready to compete for the top prize. That’s not helping matters at a time when partnership matters most. To lead a successful fundraising effort for the temple, Nikki and Jake have to put aside their differences and learn how to work together. In doing so, they discover teamwork can move mountains and open hearts, including their own. On their big night, Nikki and Jake find a way to unite people through the power of song and prove that coming together is the best way for everyone to celebrate the holiday season."

Movie Review:
π Christmas in Big Sky Country. I rather enjoyed this predictable little movie. It was comfortable and satisfying, even though sometimes hokey. There wasn’t a huge amount of romantic chemistry but I thought all the actors did a decent job (in fact I kind of think it might be the best movie the two leads have each done?). It was the same old, same old plotline, and it’s not going to win any awards and I’m not even sure it was all that Christmassy, but there was just enough drama and uniqueness and family sweetness to make it stand out a little bit and be worth watching in a sea of Christmas-movie sameness. Loved the yarn shop; and the family patriarch, who is a sheep farmer, and has lots of silly Dad puns. Family friendly. ~Jane

SHINING HIS LIGHT
"But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons."

Hi the dates don’t seem to match up. They’re from November ??
ReplyDeleteThank you for mentioning this. I've corrected the errors. It should've said December, of course.
DeleteWe are expecting negative temperatures this weekend when the arctic air goes through. With everything being canceled I’m planning to binge these new movies as much as possible. Thank you for the warm wishes. I love the cozy look of your top image with all the posters. Christie
ReplyDeleteI watched the Jessie & Danica movie on PureFlix. It was a delightful movie. So far, my favorite Christmas movie this season from GAC.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
-Gabe’s Mom
You mean Jesse & Danica?
DeleteI’m looking forward to Oy to the World I enjoy the Hanukkah themed movies
ReplyDelete'Have we met this Christmas?' is a very sweet movie. The acting of Danica and Jessie was just superb. They were so real in their emotions. The story itself is not new, but it was done beautifully.
ReplyDeleteFigured watching a few old favorites since yesterday would help me cheer up a bit. I've been so wrapped up in my own head with self doubt and regret these past few months, it's been a bit difficult to feel really cheerful for very long. (luckily, I've had a good evening.):
ReplyDeleteA Paris Christmas Waltz
The Mistle Tones
The National Tree

Oy to the World I was great!
DeleteJesse and Danica's "Have we met this Christmas?" I liked it enough to record it.
Jesse is a another actor that can do most any role.
Have a blessed week and a Merry 2025 Christmas!!!!
God Bless Everyone . Drive carefully. May The Lord's angels surround your vehicles if you are going on a trip.
Taking some verses of Scripture of Psalm 91: Psa 91:2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."
Psa 91:3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
Psa 91:4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
Psa 91:5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Psa 91:6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
Psa 91:7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.
Psa 91:8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.
Psa 91:9 Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
Psa 91:10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
Psa 91:11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
Psa 91:12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
Psa 91:13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
Psa 91:14 "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
Psa 91:15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
Psa 91:16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation." NKJV
Maria, I get that... sometimes old favorites are just what the heart needs, they’re familiar and comforting. I’m sorry you felt discouraged, but I’m really glad you had a good evening.
DeleteThis time of year often carries expectations to be happy all the time, and, of course, that isn't always realistic.
If you need to talk more, please email me anytime.
Sending you a hug!
