PRESS RELEASE:
GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY ANNOUNCES
SOMEDAY AT CHRISTMAS,
STARRING JESSICA LOWNDES, PAUL GREENE,
AND LEGENDARY
‘EMPRESS OF SOUL,’ GLADYS KNIGHT
Acclaimed Oscar® Nominee, Emmy® Award-Winning, Music Mogul, Suzanne de Passe, Serves as Executive Producer
NEW YORK, NY – September 8, 2022 – Great American Family announces Jessica Lowndes (Harmony From the Heart, Angel Falls Christmas), Paul Greene (When Calls the Heart), and Golden Globe® nominee (Pipe Dreams) and seven-time Grammy Award® winner (22 nominations), the “Empress of Soul,” Gladys Knight (“Midnight Train to Georgia,” “That’s What Friends Are For,”) are set to star in Someday at Christmas, an original Christmas movie premiering on the network this November. The film reunites Knight with former Motown chief and acclaimed, award-winning writer-producer, Suzanne de Passe (Lonesome Dove, Daytime Divas, The Vivianne Carter Story). The new film begins production on September 9 and will be part of Great American Christmas, the network’s holiday programming franchise which returns on October 21 with a new slate of original holiday movie premieres every Saturday and Sunday and Christmas movies all day and all night through the end of 2022.
“As anticipation builds for year two of Great American Christmas, we are delighted to be working with the incomparable Gladys Knight who has inspired generations of fans by pushing musical boundaries with her numerous hit songs,” said Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media. “With high caliber performances from Knight and the talented Jessica Lowndes and Paul Greene, Someday at Christmas is a truly magical Christmas movie steeped in original music that audiences will want to see again and again.”
In Someday at Christmas, Holly Bose (Lowndes), a full-time salesclerk and part-time chorus girl, anxiously counts on one hand the number of auditions she has remaining before throwing in the towel on her five-year plan to become a Broadway star. Holly has several brief and literal run-ins with jingle writer (and seasonal Santa), Jason Murphy (Greene). There’s a spark, but it’s complicated: Holly has her eye on the world’s biggest stage and Jason is beyond protective about bringing new relationships into his young daughter’s life. Though well intentioned, Jason makes Holly feel like she’s auditioning for yet another role. It would make sense if romance never happened. Except for wealthy real estate landlord, Cora Ross (Knight) who turns one bit of magic into another. Cora has seen the spark between Holly and Jason, and she has her heart set on bringing the two together to star in the town’s annual “Holiday Lane Christmas Concert.” In Holly, Cora has her aspiring lead, and in Jason, she has a jingle writer capable of writing a new Christmas classic. With Cora in charge, this off-Broadway show will have everyone falling in love with Christmas.
Executive Producers of Someday at Christmas are Brad Krevoy, Eric Jarboe, Amanda Phillips, Amy Krell, Lorenzo Nardini, Jimmy Townsend, Brian Bird, Suzanne de Passe, Joyce Miller Roy, Gladys Knight, William McDowell, Susie Belzberg Krevoy, Kathy Ceroni, Ernie Barbarash, and Jessica Lowndes. David Anselmo produces. Supervising Producers are James Mou, W. Michael Beard, Michael Shepard, Kelly Martin, and Allan Fung. Associate Producers are Bonnie Adams and Kaitlyn Greenough. Original screenplay Someday at Christmas is written by Joel & Lisa Canfield, and Steve Gottfried.
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts recently announced that Gladys Knight is part of the 45th Class of Honorees and will receive a Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award on December 4, 2022.

My *Quick* Take:
I think this is excellent news for Great American Family! I am absolutely delighted for them. Gladys Knight is such a well known, legendary singer and this will be Paul Greene's ("When Calls the Heart") first movie with the network. Jessica Lowndes has already starred in three movies on Great American Family, including: An Autumn Romance, Angel Falls Christmas, and Harmony from the Heart. If this movie is as wonderful as those three, then we are in for a delightful musical treat!

Looks amazing! -Maria
ReplyDeleteSorry but not my cup of tea - yet another single father - Florence
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see what GAC has in store this season, especially the new Jill Wagner movie. To be honest I don't care for Gladys Knight. I'm hoping she's only in a small portion of the movie and not throughout.
ReplyDeleteAgree. Looking forward to Jill’s movie. I hope that GAC brings Kristoffer Polaha over. A movie with Jill and Kris would be great.
DeleteThis looks like a great storyline for GAF. Gladys is a great get for this newbie network. Last year was good, but I think they are making an even bigger statement this year with their star power. CJ
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Great American Family - Paul Greene and Gladys Knight! I've been thinking Paul was going to be working with the channel for awhile now. Too bad it looks like When Hope Calls is no more. Could've been nice to see Dr. Carson visit.
ReplyDeleteYou never know, hopefully the show will continue.
DeleteSpeaking of WCTH, Year 9 is now available to pre order on DVD! I did notice though Fiona is sadly not on the cover. She had such a big role with the oil business I thought for she would be on there. I guess Mei took her place, even though she was only there for half a season.
Are Paul Greene & Jessica Lowndes gonna sing “Someday at Christmas”, is the title of Christmas movie?
ReplyDeleteYes, Anonymous! I was wondering if the song was going to be incorporated too. It would only make sense! Although, maybe not have Paul Greene and Jessica Lowndes sing it. It’s definitely more of a Gladys Knight song. Or maybe they could just play the original Stevie Wonder! That would be good too! I will be disappointed if it’s another movie that doesn’t play the title song in it. How dumb! (It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas!? That title made no sense at all!!)
DeleteSomeday at Christmas by Stevie Wonder
DeleteI wonder if they play Christmas songs expect for Someday at Christmas at the beginning of the movie of title Christmas song called; “Someday at Christmas”
I just know Paul Greene will be in great edition to GA family. Still missing his Carson character though.
ReplyDeleteWhen I typed "Paul Greene" it auto corrected as Pauline. Haha
This sounds fantastic! And I’m sure the music will be too. Looking forward to it! ~ Jennifer R
ReplyDeleteWow, this is big! Gladys Knight!! Doesn't get any bigger than this! I love her!! Happy to see Paul Greene too! Way to go GAF!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful combination! Jessica Lowndes and Paul Greene! My heart is singing with joy!
ReplyDeleteThis is so fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWould be great to see Diana Ross get a role - after all she was Oscar-nominated! - Florence
ReplyDeleteWe are looking forward to watching! GAC Family have made wonderful movies. This one looks good.
ReplyDeleteSounds great, Can’t wait! -Susan
