What I'm planning to catch on TV this weekend...

I'm hoping to watch some of the "Leave it to Beaver" marathon on FETV on Sunday evening, 7pm-10pm. They are calling it "A Very Ward Father's Day Marathon." I've always enjoyed watching the reruns of this series. It's refreshing to see a show with honest and decent children, who still get in trouble and make mistakes, but ultimately, respect their father and mother.

I'm also looking forward to seeing the new "Duck Family Adventure!" My family and I always loved watching "Duck Dynasty" together; we would laugh so hard at all of their hilarious antics. Plus, it was always beautiful to see the Robertson family come together at the end of every episode for a family meal around the long dinner table and pray before eating. And while I know this won't be exactly the same... with Uncle Si, it still has to be a whole lot of fun! Plus, I'm hoping there will be elements of faith along the way, as well.

As for the new movies... I'm looking forward to seeing the premiere of A Romance Wedding on UPtv! First, I like the actress who plays the lead, Morgan Kohan. She's wonderful as Lillian in the When Hope Calls series. Plus, Morgan and her opposite in this, Drew Nelson, are a real-life couple! And to top it all off... we have a wonderful review from Maria, who is a loyal follower and reviewer here at It's a Wonderful Movie! Here is Maria's review:

💐 "I found a way to watch 'A Romance Wedding' early, and I really enjoyed it! And I'm proud to say that it's also clean. :) I'm sure you'll all enjoy it when it airs." –Maria (Thank you so much, Maria, for sharing this with us!)

The other new movie airing this weekend is Moriah's Lighthouse on the Hallmark Channel. I haven't pre-screened this movie, but here is an extra detail you may want to know: actor Paul Campbell (Surprised by Love, A Godwink Christmas, etc...) and Terrence Cunningham (director of Love Finds You in Sugarcreek, Enchanted Christmas, etc...) created the script for this movie, based on the book by Serena B. Miller. You may be familiar with Miller's other books-to-movies: An Uncommon Grace and Love Finds You in Sugarcreek.

Now, like I said... I don't know if the movie Moriah's Lighthouse will be a good one, yet, but I do like the theme of lighthouses for Father's Day weekend. When I think of lighthouses, I think of strength and security; they are steady and dependable, a guide lighting the way home. That's the most important role of fathers - guiding and loving their children, showing them the way and leading them through the journey of life.

I pray all of you fathers and grandfathers out there have a very Happy Father's Day! I'll be enjoying this special time with my family, showering my precious, hardworking Daddy and all of the fathers in our family with lots of love, and remembering my dear Pa-Pa and Grandpa in heaven.

How blessed we all are to have a heavenly Father - who loves us and calls us His children. He is always there when we call on His Name.

I hope you all have a nice, relaxing, peaceful weekend.

Blessings to You All! Net

SHINING HIS LIGHT:

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” —which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."
~Ephesians 6:1-4

"As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;"
~Psalm 103:13

  1. Paul being involved with that new Hallmark movie is reason enough for me to wait for someone to review it, because almost anything he's involved with now involves woke themes or sneaking in the junk.

Got some good and sad news to report: WCTH is getting a Season 10, and it's not moving to GAC Family. which means another year of hoping that it doesn't go woke. Just what we don't need at this time. -Maria

    1. Yay! season 10 of WCTH! This time last year they were filming already.
Hmm. I've never heard of "go woke". I shall have to research this term.

      Delete
    2. Maria and Namegirl, I too am wondering what this may mean for the future of WCTH, especially since there will be a new writer. Since Chris McNally mentioned the roaring twenties - I find that concerning, too. We just want simple, sweet stories from an old mining town. Nothing outlandish.

I personally define "woke" or "go woke" as liberal ideologies and sometimes political indoctrination.

    3. Season 10!!! Yay!! I'm literally jumping down inside! What wonderful news for all us Hearties!

I wonder why they took so long?? I'm guessing by Brian Bird's statement saying they'll continue even without Hallmark scared Crown Media into continuing. The last season ratings were super high.

I never heard of the go woke phrase either.

I manged to see nthis earlier in the week and I'll wait until it's aired before making any comments.

Hope Moriah's Lighthouse is family friendly.

If anyone hasn't seen One Hour Behind I think it's an ingenious and heartwarming movie well worth watching - Florence

    9. Net, have you ever wondered why that song at the beginning of A Romance Wedding (it was elsewhere in the movie also), is played in so many movies?

      Delete
    10. Grace, Yes! Yes! Yes! It's to the point that my family and I actually look for it in these movies on UP from Reel One Entertainment. When it's played, we always say - there's THAT SONG again!!!

I've searched the lyrics, but haven't figured out who sings it. I've even looked through the credits on a few of these movies and nothing was listed for it, which is really strange.

Anyway, here's some of the lyrics, for anyone else curious about the song we are talking about...

Oh, I’ll give all of me every day… ♪
      I’ll love all of you… ♪
      In every way… ♪
All the ups and downs… ♪

You are so right, Grace... if any one catches a movie on UP, more than likely they've heard this song. I'm thinking it must be inexpensive to use, since nearly every movie from that same production company uses it.

  6. Moriah’s Lighthouse is family friendly & it’s marvelous & beautiful movie. Lighthouse was rebuilt in 1946 after its was destroyed during the war & in France, they owned by Government but the lighthouse keeper can be purchased

  10. A Romance Wedding

    (may contain spoilers)

Morgan Kohan and Drew Nelson made two movies together in quick succession.

A Whirlwind Wedding was aired last year and it became a firm favourite of mine and although this was actually the first movie it has only recently surfaced.

I have to say that this just didn't have the same impact as Whirlwind.

It was always going to be hard to top that and it may be unfortunate that I had seen A Whirlwind Wedding first as it was inevitable that I would be bound to make comparisons.

I didn't feel the same chemistry between Morgan (Zoe) and Will (Nick) - in fact although there was never any suggestion of anything between them Zoe almost seemed more comfortable in the presence of her business partner Nick in their Wedding Planner venture.

I found that both Nick and Zoe's old schoolmate Amanda who had it in for her were both slightly over the top and overacted.

The plot was a bit hard to understand too.

Will's parent's old farmhouse which Zoe and Nick were trying to buy to set up a branch of their business in her hometown had been on the market for a year so why would Nick not want to sell it to an innocuous bona fide enterprise which could bring more business and prosperity to the town and why would the townspeople want to keep outsiders away? Strange.

Despite these seeming downsides I actually quite enjoyed the movie overall, certainly much more than many of Hallmark's nowadays and it did hold my interest.

I also enjoyed seeing Lochlyn Munro who played Zoe's father on air again.

My benchmark is whether I would watch a movie again and I think I wouldn't mind watching this again at some future date. - Florence's rating 6.5

  12. Info on new HMM movie from Deadline:

Lacey Chabert (Christmas at Castle Heart) and Ektor Rivera (Sugar Plum Twist) are set to lead the Hallmark film Groundswell. The project is set to premiere on the network later this year.

Groundswell is an adaptation of Katie Lee Biegel’s debut novel. Beigel serves as executive producer on the project and will make a cameo appearance.

In the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries project, on the heels of a personal and professional setback, Atlanta chef Emma (Chabert) travels to Hawaii where she meets Ben (Rivera), a handsome, reclusive surf instructor whose lessons help her to regain her footing.

“I am a huge fan of Lacey’s movies, and she has been my dream choice to play Emma, from Day 1,” said Biegel in an exclusive statement to Deadline. “This project is close to my heart, and there is no one better to bring us along on Emma’s journey.”

Groundswell, from Crown Media Productions, is executive produced by Cameron Johann. Ric Galindez and Roy Tjioe are producers. Lee Friedlander is directing from a script by Carlie Mantilla & John Eliot Jordan. -Maria

    1. Maria, Thank you for sharing this info on Lacey's new movie. I sure hope it ends up being a good one!

For some reason, it doesn't feel like it should be a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie to me, but maybe, there is more drama to the story than I know about. However, Lacey's movie Sweet Carolina had tons of drama, and it definitely felt like a HMM type movie, but it premiered on the Hallmark Channel. There seems to be no clear definition of what makes it to either channel any more.
