Why don't they make more Murder She Baked movies?
ReplyDeleteI hear ya... I sure would love to see more "Murder She Baked" movies, too. Plus, I've heard the actors from the series say they would be open to making more.
DeleteCourse, filming is quite difficult now since the virus, but who knows... maybe someday!
After the MSB movie marathon today, I know many viewers will be asking Hallmark to bring it back again. Myself included! :)
There’s only reason there’s too many Murder, She Baked books
DeleteCameron Mathison Wants To Film More ‘Murder She Baked’ Mysteries
DeleteDecember 14, 2019
Hallmark mystery fans have been waiting for any news on when there will be a new Murder She Baked movie. The series, based on the cozy mystery novels by Joanne Fluke, they star Alison Sweeney (Days of Our Lives) and Cameron Mathison (All My Children). Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has not released a new movie since 2017. Could we see a new one in 2020? At least one star would like to see that happen.
Cameron Mathison Wants To Film More Murder She Baked
At Christmas Con 2019, Cameron Mathison was asked a non-Christmas movie question. He was asked if there were new Murder She Bakedmovies coming up anytime soon. According to the International Business Times, Mathison seemed hopeful in his answer, as he said “I hope so.” But, admitted that the stars would need to be aligned “in a perfect way” for this to happen.
As Mathison explained, he is now a Home & Family host and his time to film movies is quite limited. As TV Shows Ace fans know, Alison has her own mystery series, the Chronicle Mysteries. But, Mathison still has hope. He just cannot say when. “We want to, but things just kind of shift and change, and people are working on different things. So, if the stars align, it’ll happen. I think this will happen, I just don’t know when.”
What Does Alison Sweeney Say About Mystery Series?
Earlier in February 2019, TV Shows Aceinterviewed Sweeney about her new, True Crime mystery series, the Chronicle Mysteries. She helped create this series, unlike Murder She Baked, which are based on the Joanne Fluke Hannah Swensen mystery series. She liked the freedom of creating everything from characters to storyline.
As for Murder She Baked, Sweeney did not know if there would be more movies in the series. But, she seemed to have fond memories of playing Hannah, and Mathison, Mike.
“As far as I know, there are no plans for more. I loved playing Hannah and I love the idea that she and Mike are off solving crimes together in Minnesota.”
Currently, both Murder She Baked stars are featured in the Countdown to Christmas. Sweeney is in the new Blake Shelton produced Time For You To Come Home for Christmas. Cameron Mathison currently stars in the magical movie The Christmas Club. Sweeney is currently filming more episodes of the Chronicle Mysteries. Mathison continues to host on Hallmark’s Home & Family, after undergoing cancer surgery in the early fall.

Will Alison Sweeney & ‘Murder She Baked’ Return to Hallmark?
DeleteA new mystery movie series is premiering tonight on Hallmark starring Alison Sweeney. But now that she’s on Chronicle Mysteries, many Hallmark Movies & Mysteries fans are wondering what this means for the beloved mystery series she was on before, called Murder She Baked. Here’s what we know so far.
Unfortunately, at this time it appears that Murder She Baked isn’t coming back any time soon. Hallmark has not announced an official end or cancelation to the series. But on January 6, a fan asked Hallmark Movies & Mysteries about Murder She Baked after the page posted about Chronicle Mysteries, and Hallmark didn’t indicate that any new movies were coming soon.
Then just about a week ago, on February 6, a fan asked the same question again. Hallmark Movies & Mysteries wrote back: “Hi Teri, we don’t have any info on a new Murder She Baked movie at the moment, but we’ll update this page if we have news.”
So this means there is no official word that the mystery series has been canceled. But Hallmark also currently has no plans to make a new installment in the movie series.
In an interview with International Business Times, Sweeney echoed the same sentiment. “Never say never,” she said about a new series. She said she’s focusing on the new series but leaving the door open for a new installment of Murder She Baked. However, it doesn’t appear there are any plans for a new series at this time.
If you’re missing the series, you can follow the book series’ author, Joanne Fluke, on Facebook. She’s still writing new books, including Chocolate Cream Pie Murder which is releasing everywhere this month. Fluke hasn’t said much on Facebook about the series itself. When someone asked her about it in October, Fluke just wrote: “You can leave a post for them (Hallmark) on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/hallmarkmoviesandmysteries/when it might return, or just to ask them to make the next MurderSheBaked movie NOW! lol.”
In late September, Fluke wrote on Facebook: “As it stands, it will be up to Hallmark Movies and Mysteries if and when they will release the next installment of the Murder She Baked movies.”
Fluke also said that she would love to release a new cookbook, but that decision is up to her publisher.
Hallmark has made five Murder She Baked movies, and fans would really love to see more. You can learn all about the movies on Hallmark’s page here.
Fans are disappointed that a new movie isn’t being planned, especially since they were hoping for a wedding-themed movie.
