STUDIO CITY, CA – May 1, 2019 – Alexa PenaVega (Spy Kids franchise) and real-life husband Carlos PenaVega (“Big Time Rush,”) star in “Picture Perfect Mysteries: Newlywed and Dead” a new original premiering Sunday, June 16, (9 p.m. ET/PT) on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
Small-town New England professional wedding photographer Allie Adams (Alexa PenaVega) finds herself directly in the middle of a murder mystery when the groom, the son in a prominent and wealthy local family, is suddenly shot and killed during the ceremonial first dance. Suspicion immediately turns towards Allie’s big brother Greg (Jon Cor, “Love on Safari”), the long-time ex-boyfriend of the bride, and Allie begins her own amateur investigation to clear Greg’s name. As she pours over the hundreds of photographs for possible suspects, Allie tries to help the newest Detective on the force Sam (Carlos PenaVega), as they hunt for both the killer and the missing murder weapon. When the list of possible suspects grows, Allie and Sam continue to bump into each other as they follow a multitude of leads, and Sam reluctantly accepts Allie’s help, as she has a real knack for spotting missing details. As the killer continues to hide in plain sight and allegations towards Allie’s brother increase, Allie helps Sam not only personally by helping him adjust to a small-town farmhouse and way of life from the hustle of New York City with a thoughtful gift, but uses her pictures and investigative prowess to help him solve the town’s biggest mystery before the killer can strike again.
“Picture Perfect Mysteries” is a Crown Media Productions, LLC production. Jim Wilberger, Alexa PenaVega and Carlos PenaVega are executive producers. Vicki Sotheran and Greg Malcolm are the producers. Ron Oliver directed from the teleplay written by Walter Klenhard and Marcy Holland with the story by Klenhard.
