Cast Details: For those of you who have been asking in comments below... YES, Officer Tommy's last name in the first "Fixer Upper" Movie was Simmons and his last name in this new "Fixer Upper" movie is Sloane.

In the official Hallmark press picture featured here (below) with Jason Cermak (who portrays Tommy) and Colin Ferguson, I was able to zoom into an enlarged image and see his name tag, indeed, says Sloane in this movie. The name tag on his uniform in the first movie was Simmons. (See image shared on Twitter- HERE) Why this change? Could it have been a simple error or purposeful? For now, it's a mystery!

Also, an "Anonymous" commenter has mentioned below- there have also been changes made to Colin Ferguson's character name.

PLOT:

Storyline via Hallmark: When home renovator extraordinaire Shannon Hughes (Jewel) finds a human skull in the basement of her current project, she sets out to discover who is behind the mysterious death by piecing together clues left behind in the victim's hidden diary. With the help of her new client, famous crime reporter and author Macintyre 'Mac' Sullivan (Ferguson), together they follow the trail to Shannon's old high school to nail the culprit, but not before another diary is discovered, a murder shocks the resort town, close friends are suspected of foul play, and the truth behind the overwhelming success and generous financial support of the high school's football team and athletic program is revealed.

  1. I'm notice Officer Tommy's (Jason Cermak) last name is Simmons on Fixer Upper Mystery, not Officer Tommy Sloane on Fixer Upper Mystery 2

    1. Thank you for mentioning that. I'll be sure to look into it. That is the name Hallmark currently has listed for Jason's character.

    2. I notice Tommy's last name was Simmons on name tag on his jacket when he was talking to Shannon Hughes in the kitchen @ Jesse's place on Fixer Upper Mystery. Did you guys notice Tommy's last name was Simmons on his Jacket?

    3. Why did they change Tommy's last name from Simmons to Sloane?

    4. I was sent screen images on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/morgandersfan/status/841463941192548352 that show you are, indeed, correct. He is Officer Tommy Simmons. The Hallmark press release still says Sloane. Isn't that interesting. Guess it was a simple mistake.

I have just updated the cast list above. Thank you so much for noticing and sharing. I'm also grateful to Rose who shared the photos with me on Twitter. Thank you! :)

    6. Yeah, that's one of several names for them. A few weeks ago - I added several "screencaps," "screen shots" or "screen grabs" to my Aurora Teagarden post here:

Whatever we call them - I think everyone gets *The Picture*! (Get it?)

    8. Jason Cermak's character is Tommy Simmons in Fixer Upper Mystery: Framed for Murder. I zoom Tommy's last name was Simmons when he's with his best friend; Shannon Hughes (Jewel) in Jesse's den.

Jason Cermak's character is Tommy Sloane in Fixer Upper Mystery: Crowned & Moldering. I zoom Jason Cermak with Colin Ferguson - I notice Tommy's different last name is Sloane.

Police Deputy Tommy Simmons (Fixer Upper Mystery: Framed for Murder)

Police Officer Tommy Sloane (Fixer Upper Mystery: Crowned & Moldering)

I prefer Tommy's last name was Simmons from first movie rather than Sloane from this new movie

They changed Tommy's last name from Simmons to Sloane is unbelievable

Tommy's last name is actually Simmons, Tommy Simmons
Tommy's partner's last name is Sloane

    11. I think Tommy grabbed his partner's coat was Simmons because he forgot his coat from Fixer Upper Mystery: Framed for Murder

But Tommy's last name is actually Sloane; Tommy Sloane in Fixer Upper Mystery: Crowned & Moldering

  4. Colin Ferguson's character was MacIntyre Sullivan

They misspelled MacIntyre's name was Mackintyre Sullivan on Fixer Upper Mystery on his books.

I notice MacIntyre's book was misspelled his name was Mackintyre but his real name was MacIntyre Sullivan.

    Mackintyre Sullivan (Fixer Upper Mystery)
MacIntyre "Mac" Sullivan (Fixer Upper Mystery 2)

MacIntyre's nickname is Mac or Mack.

They're completely mix up Colin Ferguson & Jason Cermak's characters: Mackintyre Sullivan to MacIntyre Sullivan (Colin Ferguson) & Officer Tommy Simmons (Fixer Upper Mystery) to Officer Tommy Sloane (Jason Sloane).

Police Deputy Tommy Simmons (Fixer Upper Mystery)
Police Officer Tommy Sloane (Fixer Upper a Mystery 2)

I'm not so sure Jewel's character: Shannon Hughes is still the same character & what if they change Shannon's name.

The second film of nine for Hallmark with the singer Jewel. Series is called the Fixer Upper Mysteries where Jewel’s character is a handywoman that happens to have a knack for solving crimes. I play her best friend/cop Tommy Sloane.

This Old Homicide (Fixer-Upper Mystery #2)
Crowned and Moldering (Fixer-Upper Mystery #3)
Deck the Hallways (Fixer-Upper Mystery #4)

From This Old Homicide to Framed for Murder

    Movies:

    2) Fixer Upper Mystery: Crowned & Moldering

Eaves of Destruction - Book 5 (Fixer Upper Mystery #5)

According to Jason Cermak there's 9 Fixer Upper Mystery books

But how many Upper Fixer Mystery books are there

  7. Colin Ferguson's character was MacIntyre Sullivan

If you guys notice on MacIntyre Sullivan's books was Mackintyre Sullivan in Fixer Upper Mystery: Framed for Murder

They spell correctly MacIntyre Sullivan's name in Fixer Upper Mystery: Crowded & Moldering

Jason Cermak's character was Police Deputy Tommy Simmons

I found out Tommy's last name was Simmons on his name tag on his uniform, Tommy Simmons is Shannon Hughes' (Jewel) best friend since grade school in Fixer Upper Mystery: Framed for Murder

I wonder why did they change Tommy's last name from Simmons to Sloane in Fixer Upper Mystery: Crowned & Moldering - Police Officer Tommy Sloane???

Fixer Upper Mystery: Framed for Murder
    Mackintyre Sullivan
    Police Deputy Tommy Simmons

Fixer Upper Mystery: Crowned & Moldering
    MacIntyre "Mac" Sullivan
    Police Officer Tommy Sloane

They misspelled MacIntyre's name & even change Tommy's last name

I hope for Fixer Upper Mystery 3 & more
    Colin Ferguson as MacIntyre Sullivan
Jason Cermak as Police Officer Tommy Simmons
    Jewel as Shannon Hughes

Bring back Tommy's last name is Simmons from first movie: Fixer Upper Mystery: Framed for Murder, not Sloane in Fixer Upper Mystery: Crowned & Moldering

They better edit MacIntyre's name on his books from Mackintyre Sullivan to MacIntyre Sullivan in Fixer Upper Mystery: Framed for Murder & even Tommy's last name Sloane to Simmons in Fixer Upper Mystery: Crowned & Moldering

  8. Kate Carlisle’s Fixer-Upper Mysteries Coming Soon on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries
    IN THE JANUARY 7 ISSUE

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel has been taking a lot of cozy mystery book series and turning them into movies and we at KRL have reviewed most of them. We were excited to hear that Kate Carlisle’s Fixer-Upper Mysteries was the next series to be turned into movies, with the first on airing this month. We took some time to chat with Kate about this exciting news.

Some readers might be surprised that Hallmark chose the Fixer-Upper Mysteries over the Bibliophile Mysteries, for which I’m better known. But if you think about it, it makes sense. The Fixer-Upper Mysteries are much more visual, with Shannon renovating beautiful, old Victorian homes, and they feed the seemingly insatiable hunger for home renovation stories that has made the HGTV and DIY networks so popular.

Anyway, the details were being worked out all through 2015 and into 2016, and I had a lovely long talk with the producer early in 2016. Then filming started on October 3, 2016,—both Jewel and Colin Ferguson posted about it on their Instagram accounts—and I couldn’t share the news with my readers until December 2016! Ahhhhhh! It was really difficult, but I’m so proud of myself that I managed to be discreet.

Kate: Yes, the Fixer-Upper Mysteries will continue! (Happy dance) I recently signed a two-book deal with my publisher for more Fixer-Upper Mysteries in 2017 and 2018, and I hope the series will continue beyond that. I’ve just started to work on book 5, Eaves of Destruction. I love writing two ongoing mystery series—the Fixer-Upper Mysteries and the Bibliophile Mysteries—with one book from each series every year. Although both series are set in California, the settings are very different—small town Lighthouse Cove versus San Francisco. And the premises are quite different, too, which gives me a great deal of creative satisfaction.
