PLOT:

Daniel Stern ("Home Alone") and Matt Frewer ("Eureka") put the cool in Yule in the Hallmark Channel Original Movie, Battle of the Bulbs. The film is about dueling neighbors whose Christmas decorating rivalry turns so outrageous, it puts the "no" in "Noel" for the small town sponsoring the annual fete. Hallmark Channel is the biggest holiday destination in television.

Bob (Stern) and Stu (Frewer) are former best friends whose relationship went sour early in life over a friendly wager. Though decades have passed since the incident, neither man is giving up on the grudge. Imagine Bob's surprise when he discovers his old nemisis Stu is back, has moved into the house across the street, and is taking him on mano y mano (loose translation: How many donkeys should one live nativity scene have?) in a competition to win the town's annual Christmas decorating contest. There is no ornament too flimsy, no filament too thin to keep these two warriors from assaulting each other with laser-like illumination and, finally, merrily melting down the town's electrical systems. But when Stu's son falls in love with Bob's daughter, the two men find exceeding abundantly in life is much more important than exceeding the maximum wattage.

"Battle of the Bulbs," is a Brightlight Pictures Production in association with Daniel L. Paulson Productions. Dan Paulson and Shawn Williamson are the executive producers. Jamie Goehring is the producer. Harvey Frost directed from a script by W. Paul Thompson.

The Waltons return to TV!

The Waltons: The Complete First SeasonFor those of you who have followed my blog now for awhile - you must know how much I love Christmas Movies, Family Movies, Christian Movies, and the Television Show, The Waltons!

Back in mid-May, a man from the Inspiration Network contacted me - asking my opinion on what family shows people were wanting to see and explaining that they would be moving their channel into a more family show format.

Well, of course I went on and on about The Waltons and explained that many fans were disappointed when the Hallmark Channel removed them from their line-up. He was grateful for the feedback and all of the shows I suggested - so now I am thrilled to share that they will, indeed, be picking up The Waltons series, after all.

The Waltons: The Complete Second SeasonThe Waltons will return to TV on the Inspiration Network with a Reunion Special on October 18th and then the entire series will begin from Season One! I think the network will begin a whole new look of adding more family programming to their channel on this day, as well.

Honeymoon for One - Hallmark Channel Movie

MOVIE REVIEW

Honeymoon for One

Network: Hallmark Channel

Original Air Date: August 13, 2011

CAST:

Nicollette Sheridan ... Eve Parker
Greg Wise ... Sean
Patrick Baladi ... Greg
Katie Bannon ... Kathleen

PLOT:

An ambitious advertising executive finds out her fiancĂ© is cheating on her just days before their wedding. She calls things off, but decides to embark on their honeymoon to Ireland solo, where she meets a simple Irishman who shows her love doesn’t have to be complicated.

Movie Review:

This was a fairly predictable and fairly decent Romantic Comedy. Any fans of Nicollette Sheridan should enjoy it - as she is in nearly every scene!

As far as being decent - well, the only minor thing was the implication that she and her fiance are living with one another. Otherwise, there were no improper situations. Eve is on the phone in her bathroom and her boyfriend is on the phone in his bathroom, talking to one another- then they both, still on the phone, meet each other at the front door.

Eve discovers, before their wedding, that her fiance is cheating on her - so of course, the wedding is off and she eventually decides to go on their Honeymoon alone - where she meets a handsome Irishman. Instantly they are attracted to one another and become attached, yet, she will be going home and he is a single father, not sure of opening himself up to relationships and busy trying to protect their homeland of redevelopment projects that would ruin the local inn, other businesses, and the nature around them.

It is a Hallmark Movie, after all... so of course there is a predictable happy ending - they fall in love and the land is saved! Very sappy, but sweet... a happy love story!

Happy Birthday Mickey Rooney - September 23, 2010!!!

Actor, Mickey Rooney was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 23, 1920!

Happy 90th Birthday, Mickey!!!

He's been acting since he was a very young child and today, TCM honors Mickey Rooney's Movie Career, on his Birthday, with a Movie Marathon! (Two are Andy Hardy films!) See the list below...

Mickey Rooney: The Long and the Short of ItOf all the great actors, Mickey Rooney is one of my absolute favorites! In my opinion, he's at the very top with greats like Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, and Van Johnson. I've adored Mickey since the very first time I watched an Andy Hardy movie... he was sweet, he was innocent, he was energetic and real, and best of all, fun! And today, he still lights up the screen in whatever character he portrays!

PLOT:

A Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) based on the pair of hit comedy series for the channel - "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" and "The Suite Life on Deck".

“The Suite Life Movie” was filmed in Vancouver, Canada and is about the characters going on spring break from school. The character Cody gets the opportunity to participate in a prestigious internship program, but when his twin brother Zack destroys billion-dollar scientific equipment, Cody gets kicked out of the program!

As the story goes, teenage twins Cody and Zack Martin receive an opportunity to participate in the prestigious Gemini Project at a high-tech research center that studies the dynamics between twins. Soon they find themselves connected in a way they've never been before: When one twin experiences a sensation, thought or feeling, the other twin feels it too. While this newfound power helps the boys see eye to eye for the first time, it ultimately puts them in more danger than they could have imagined.

Movie Review:

(CAUTION -Contains SPOILERS)

This movie had cute, humorous moments and very strange moments, as well!

Zack and Cody are fun, but not together - they seem to be arguing or disagreeing over something 99% of the movie. It would have been nice to have seen them get along better... especially as they are getting older and maturing.

Here's a short summary of it - Zack ruins Cody's chances of getting into a prestigious internship program when he destroys expensive equipment. Zack learns he can make it up to Cody by going to another place... a Research Center that studies twins, called The Gemini Project. His angle is really to get Cody to let him have their father's sport car.

From here on out - I believe the storyline is creepy and could really scare young children - especially those who are twins! There are lots of other twins at this research center and they all act pretty much the same - all the twins seem to have the same likes and dislikes as their twin does. They act very strange, like pod-people or Stepford Twins.

Soon, Zack and Cody learn that by eating a special fruit there - they are starting to have the same thoughts and feelings - emotionally and physically. (This could scare your children away from eating fruit, too!) Soon they realize this program, The Gemini Project, has brought them there to hook them up with macines and wires and merge their minds. They decide to make a run for it - and there is a really long scene of them running and trying to escape through an old saw mill with running saw blades coming out from the walls while they dive in and around and barely escape. The other twins in the project go after them chanting, "Get Zack and Cody"... over and over and over again... and again! It is extremely annoying and could be rather scary for young kids. I found it to be kind of creepy, myself.

Friends - Mr Moseby, Bailey, London & Woody... eventually show up in the end and try to help them, but it is too late - the mad scientist starts to do the merging process - but Zack and Cody fight it - by fighting with one another. Gee, that sounds like a great resolution to their problem - more fighting. They are strapped down with straps and wires and can not move, but ghost-like, almost transparent figures of their bodies go up into the air over them and they continue to argue - eventually exhausting and blowing up the machines when they do not merge with one another.

After that, Zack and Cody are free. They run to their friends and leave. All the twins are free now.

They return back to their school on the ship.

Spring Break is over....

See or Skip:

The Zack & Cody Disney TV Series is fairly cute, but I must suggest Skipping this Movie.
