NEW YORK, NY – September 8, 2022 – Great American Family announces Jessica Lowndes (Harmony From the Heart, Angel Falls Christmas), Paul Greene (When Calls the Heart), and Golden Globe® nominee (Pipe Dreams) and seven-time Grammy Award® winner (22 nominations), the “Empress of Soul,” Gladys Knight (“Midnight Train to Georgia,” “That’s What Friends Are For,”) are set to star in Someday at Christmas, an original Christmas movie premiering on the network this November. The film reunites Knight with former Motown chief and acclaimed, award-winning writer-producer, Suzanne de Passe (Lonesome Dove, Daytime Divas, The Vivianne Carter Story). The new film begins production on September 9 and will be part of Great American Christmas, the network’s holiday programming franchise which returns on October 21 with a new slate of original holiday movie premieres every Saturday and Sunday and Christmas movies all day and all night through the end of 2022.

In Someday at Christmas, Holly Bose (Lowndes), a full-time salesclerk and part-time chorus girl, anxiously counts on one hand the number of auditions she has remaining before throwing in the towel on her five-year plan to become a Broadway star. Holly has several brief and literal run-ins with jingle writer (and seasonal Santa), Jason Murphy (Greene). There’s a spark, but it’s complicated: Holly has her eye on the world’s biggest stage and Jason is beyond protective about bringing new relationships into his young daughter’s life. Though well intentioned, Jason makes Holly feel like she’s auditioning for yet another role. It would make sense if romance never happened. Except for wealthy real estate landlord, Cora Ross (Knight) who turns one bit of magic into another. Cora has seen the spark between Holly and Jason, and she has her heart set on bringing the two together to star in the town’s annual “Holiday Lane Christmas Concert.” In Holly, Cora has her aspiring lead, and in Jason, she has a jingle writer capable of writing a new Christmas classic. With Cora in charge, this off-Broadway show will have everyone falling in love with Christmas.

My *Quick* Take:

I think this is excellent news for Great American Family! I am absolutely delighted for them. Gladys Knight is such a well known, legendary singer and this will be Paul Greene's ("When Calls the Heart") first movie with the network. Jessica Lowndes has already starred in three movies on Great American Family, including: An Autumn Romance, Angel Falls Christmas, and Harmony from the Heart. If this movie is as wonderful as those three, then we are in for a delightful musical treat!

Labor Day Weekend 2022 - New TV Movies & Marathons!

Happy Labor Day weekend, everyone! I hope many of you will have some time-off work this weekend to relax or perhaps, get a few things done on your to-do-list before Summer comes to an end this month. It's the latter for us, as we have some outdoor projects around the house to keep us busy. Just hoping the weather cooperates.

As for what's new on TV this weekend, we have FOUR All New Movie Premieres to choose from! Even though I've seen "Prescription for Love," which will have it's cable premiere on Great American Family Saturday night, I am so looking forward to watching it again. In my opinion, it is such a cute movie, another delightful romantic-comedy starring Trevor Donovan! Speaking of Trevor, if you missed his UPtv movie with Rachel Boston, titled "The Engagement Plot," you'll have a chance to see a double-dose of Trevor this weekend - as this movie encores Sunday night at 9pm/8c. on UPtv!

I hope you all have a peaceful and pleasant Labor Day weekend. I'm not sure if I'll be able to see much of the movies this weekend, but my DVR will definitely be set to catch several of the new premieres, especially "Prescription for Love," "Love, Bubbles & Crystal Cove," and "Love's Portrait." As I'm in and out, I'll be checking out the "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and "The Waltons" marathons, too! I certainly can't miss seeing some of my two all-time favorite shows.

I'm also hoping "Chesapeake Shores" will be better (more family-friendly) than last weeks episode. I'm mainly tuning in this week since the storyline says Sarah and Kevin have exciting news. They've always been my favorite couple on the show, and I'm hoping this season ends happily for them.

Christmas comes early! Great American Family shared today they will begin their 2022 Christmas Movie Season even earlier than previously announced. Get ready for Christmas-themed movies 24/7 starting Friday, October 21st! This new launch date for Great American Christmas may also affect the premiere dates previously given for their new movies, so be sure to stay tuned for additional updates and possible changes.

Until the Christmas movies begin, Great American Family will continue their Saturday night Summer movie premieres and begin their *Autumn Harvest* movies on Saturday, September 24th! I'm not sure, yet, if any of those movies will be fall-themed, but we'll see. Stay tuned!

Alex (Jodie Sweetin) has wonderful memories of Christmas with her best friend Beth (Mikaela Lily Davies), until Beth started dating Alex’s ex, Jesse (David Pinard). Because she has missed the last few Christmases with family due to her demanding job as an architect, Alex is excited to spend the holidays with her mother Caroline (Jane Wheeler), who is opening an inn in Switzerland. Much to her dismay, she learns that Jesse and Beth are also visiting for the Inns’ opening. When Alex meets Liam (Tim Rozon), a single father and the manager of her mother’s inn, Liam attempts to show her all the Christmas traditions and culture of Switzerland and helps Alex open herself up to love and forgiveness this holiday season.

My *Quick* Take:

How fun to see Jane Seymour and Joe Lando working on this new Lifetime Christmas movie together. They were wonderful together on the Dr Quinn: Medicine Woman series. I remember watching that show faithfully every Saturday night. Jane and Joe also reunited in 2011 for the Hallmark movie, Perfectly Prudence.

It's also interesting that Jodie Sweetin will be starring alongside Tim Rozon, who Candace Cameron Bure (Jodie's Full House TV sister) worked with in the Hallmark movie, Christmas Town.
