County Rescue Review:

I watched the finale of County Rescue yesterday (Thursday) on Pure Flix, and it was every bit as deep and emotional as the episodes leading up to it. One of the things I continue to appreciate most about this series is the strong faith element, including the meaningful scriptures woven throughout every episode. I also enjoyed seeing the friendships among the rescue team continue to grow and strengthen.

The storm added some tension and drama to the episode, drawing everyone together for a meaningful conversation. One of my disappointments is that we don't always get to see how every emergency call ultimately turns out. I don't need to see every detail, but it would be nice to get a little more closure and know how some of the patients are doing when they're taken to the hospital.

In this episode in particular, Dani is out on a serious call and helping a woman, and then in the next scene or so - she's back at the station like nothing happened. So, we have no clue what really happened.

Overall, though, it was a heartfelt episode. While there are uplifting moments, there are also scenes that are reflective and quite emotional. If you're walking through the grief of losing a loved one, this episode, and the series as a whole, may offer some comfort, encouragement, and hope for your healing journey.

The end felt as if they are leaving the door open for another season, but we'll see. ~Net

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hope you are looking forward to the new Summer Nights movie! I'm hearing it's a great mix of romance and comedy. I'm getting the feel that it may be (in the comedic sense) a lot like Missing the Boat or Lost in Paradise. Anyway, that's my hope!

In case you missed it, you can see my review of County Rescue above.

Have a Blessed Weekend,
Net

  1. County Rescue-it feels like this season just flew by! I've really been enjoying the depth and the focus on faith as you mentioned Net, but like you--as I was watching an episode today I thought it's hard when we don't get closure on a victim. This was a scene where Andy and Rose helped a woman and she was in serious condition going to the hospital, and then it went to a new scene and never followed back up. I wondered if some scenes get cut, the show itself still seems rather short, though longer that last season. Still, I appreciate the characters, the depth of material, and I think it's all been really well done.

    1. Lizzy, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. So true... it was a much faster season - since they combined airing episodes 2&3 and 4&5 on Sunday nights.

Good to hear you felt the same about the rescue scenes not always following through with results.

And like you said, the series has lots of depth to it and the faith is terrific. I was hoping, though, by the end of the season there might be some more uplifting moments, but it remained pretty solemn, even at the end.

  2. I just watched the latest Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries and it was good! I love how Cheryl ended the episode talking about how we are the hands and feet of God. And the head police cracks me up, he’s annoyed with Cheryl but yet seems like he’s ready to retire and would gladly hand his gun over to her if she asked 😂

    1. Paula, Love your comment!!!!! :)

So good to hear how much you enjoyed the latest Sugarcreek episode! That line about being "the hands and feet of God" touched my heart, too! I love the way they keep weaving faith into these stories.

I've also seen the finale, and it's absolutely fantastic, too!!! I'll try to write up a review soon.

  3. I never understood why if hallmark is going to do movies that take place on a foreign country. The actors can learn how to say hello in the language, Saw a preview of Nikki arriving at the villa in the movie The Greek Isle and when she see someone she says Hi!. Saying hi is YAH hello in Greek is. YAH SOO.

  6. I wasn’t sure about The Greek Aisle at first, but it turned out to be really good. When a new lead is paired with someone we’ve known forever like Nikki, it’s hard to know if they’ll click, but they worked well together and I really enjoyed watching them.

    It’s also family friendly.

    1. Allie B, I'm always uncertain about newcomers, too. I try to be open-minded, but with some actors/actresses it's not always easy. Good to hear you enjoyed this new Summer movie and the chemistry was good! :)

  7. I have not enjoyed County Rescue this season. In my opinion, the storylines have been disappointing, some of the new characters have not added much to the show, and many scenes felt choppy rather than naturally flowing. The constant Dani voice overs in nearly every episode became tiresome and often slowed the momentum of the story.

While I appreciate that the show includes faith based elements and Scripture, simply adding a few verses here and there does not automatically make for strong line. This season felt like it was on life support, and personally, I would be fine if GAF chose not to move forward with a fourth season.

Season 3 seemed to make very little progress overall, and I was disappointed to see Andy being pushed into another relationship so quickly. If the actress who played Ashley chose not to return, I believe recasting the role would have been a better option than the direction they ultimately took.

Another thing that was missing this season was Dani's family. Their absence left a noticeable gap and removed some of the heart that helped balance the show in previous seasons.

I have never been a huge fan of County Rescue, but I watched it with my family and hoped this season would improve. Unfortunately, if I had to describe Season 3, it would be… awful. I was never looking forward to the next one, and I was glad when it was over. It’s failed writing and new approach this season was a failure in my opinion.

    1. Sarah, I get that County Rescue might not be for everyone. I was hoping we'd get more of a mix of the deep moments along with some uplifting scenes. That mix has always been something I've enjoyed along with all of the faith, but this season seemed to lean much more heavily into the emotional drama.

In the beginning, Tim was teasing a lot about doing a prank on the newbies, which was a fun tradition we saw in previous seasons. I was hoping we'd finally see that and have something to smile about, but that never happened. I was rather disappointed by that.

Also, I expected all the emotions that came with losing Ashley. It was a significant loss, however, at times it felt as though that storyline dominated a majority of each episode. Because of that, the show felt rather heavy.

Also, I felt the same about Andy moving on. It just felt too soon and really weird - when Andy said he felt similar feelings toward Rachel that he felt towards Ashley. It was way too soon to even be implied. I wasn't shocked they went there, but I was disappointed it was even alluded to.

If another season is planned, I hope they will add more uplifting moments to the series.

  8. Regardless of how anyone feels about County Rescue, it is still a very rare show in this day and age, it's a 1st responder show that ISN'T some nighttime soap opera or only about how ridiculous and woke they can make everything, it's about following a calling to help others, and that is very special today.

It deserves a 4th Season, especially since there is definitely a bunch of unanswered questions from that finale. -Maria
