Happy mid-May weekend, everyone! Check out what's on the menu this weekend!
The Hallmark Channel is serving up an all-new helping of suspense with Best Served Cold: A Hannah Swensen Mystery, where Hannah is once again mixing together her baked desserts and small-town sleuthing!
Meanwhile, over on Great American Family, the medical drama County Rescue returns with its Season Three premiere. Filled with faith, courage, and heartfelt moments, the series continues to follow dedicated first responders as they face personal challenges and their calling to serve others.
🚨Note: I watched the first episode of County Rescue early on Great American Pure Flix, and just wanted to share that due to the intensity of some medical issues and life-saving emergencies, County Rescue is (in my opinion) best suited for mature preteen age and up. This premiere episode is 1 hour and 30 minutes long (with commercials). It's intense and emotional, but also inspiring to see how these close friends, even when times are tough, care for and lean on each other.
See more details for County Rescue and the new Hannah Swensen Mystery below...

Freedom 250 Invites All Americans to Come Together in Prayer and Worship Ahead of the Nation’s 250th Birthday.
On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the National Mall will be the scene of a historic gathering as Americans of every background across the country prepare for the nation’s 250th birthday with Scripture, testimony, prayer, and rededication of our country as One Nation to God. From morning fellowship in front of the U.S. Capitol to an evening filled with music anchored at the main stage on 12th Street, Rededicate 250 will be rooted in giving thanks for God’s presence in our national life throughout 250 years of American history and asking for his guidance for the next 250. (details via https://freedom250.org)
The program is expected to run from 10:30am to 6pm EST.
Among all of the many religious and political speakers, guests, and voices from entertainment, be sure to look for Two-time Tony Award Nominee, Actress, and Singer Laura Osnes, who will be performing along with the Joint Armed Forces Color Guard.
Various news channels will air this live, and it will also be available via livestream on Real America's Voice, CSPAN, TBN+, CBN, etc...
And more patriotic news for Laura Osnes! In case you missed it, she recently sang The National Anthem in support of Great American Media's newest initiative, "America Sings the Anthem." I've included Laura's beautiful rendition of our beloved anthem below.
In addition to these patriotic performances, be sure to look for Laura Osnes next weekend at the National Memorial Day Concert, airing on PBS - Sunday, May 24th. I'll have more details next week - so stay tuned!
Happy watching this weekend!

☀️ SHINING HIS LIGHT: ☀️
'For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
~Matthew 25: 35-40

starring Alison Sweeney & Benjamin Ayres
We have a busy weekend ahead but I’ll definitely try to catch that Rededicate 250 on TBN! Sounds amazing. I am super excited for the new Hannah mystery. I really enjoy the ones where someone is missing, a nice change from the normal murder mystery, but I love those as well. Reminds me of that one Kellie Martin mystery, Deadly Estate, where the friend was missing but it had an interesting twist. Wow Laura’s voice is amazing! Have a blessed weekend everyone, going to be a hot one here 90 degrees today 🥵

Paula, Hope you were able to catch some of the Rededicate 250 - what I caught, including Laura Osnes, was spectacular!!! It's on YouTube if you want to go back to see anything. If you missed Laura, I highly recommend going back to see her... she wore the most lovely red dress that was absolutely elegant and classy for the occasion. Also, Sadie Robertson's message was very beautiful & inspiring. I loved how she held her Bible up in the air - proclaiming how wonderful it is that she has the freedom in our country to do that. I sure hope we (as a country) never take that for granted.
DeleteAlso, hope you weren't too hot over the weekend. It got really hot & humid for the first time for us. We were extra busy, too, with a family graduation. Such a special time!
Hoping to catch the new Hannah mystery tonight or tomorrow. Glad they are, at least, continuing this series.
Also wanted to comment, love this scripture Net! Praying we always strive to have a heart like Jesus and love and care for our brothers and sisters.

Was going to say how much I liked these scriptures too. Goes perfectly with County Rescue and serving others. If only more people lived this the world would be a better place. Christie
DeletePaula and Christie... So glad you liked this scripture. It always touches my heart, too, and makes me think differently when I do for others - knowing how much it pleases Jesus! :)
DeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteSugarcreek Mysteries:
ReplyDeleteSo last week’s episode with Cheryl’s ex boyfriend showing up was a better storyline/episode than the previous ones. I really enjoyed it, although the mysteries are kind of easy to solve. This week’s however with the missing van of tour people was kind of confusing but not in a good way, just didn’t make sense to me. Either way, I enjoy seeing Cheryl and Levi.
~Paula
Paula... I agree, it was interesting, but a little odd, too, with the missing van of people who really had no clue that they were kidnapped??? Course, they gave up their cell phones for the Amish tour, so that explains why they were unreachable, but I would've thought their families would have been notified and it would have been a national news story. Plus, the van wasn't hard to find - it was in clear view from the road. Hopefully, the next mystery will be better. A least, they are lighthearted.

Thanks for the tip on County Rescue. My husband & I will watch without the kids. Thats too bad though cause we liked watching When Hope Calls together. Christie
ReplyDeleteI’m excited to watch the new Hannah Swanson mystery and the County Recuse. Also If you’re a fan of Jane Austen you might be interested in a new show on BBC. I found it charming, funny and family friendly. It’s called The Other Bennet Sister. It’s about Mary Bennett.
ReplyDeleteElizbeth
Elizbeth, I LOVE JANE AUSTEN!!!!! And I've absolutely been eyeing The Other Bennet Sister with great interest. Thank you for sharing your review... I'm going to be sure to look into it!!! :)
DeleteThe last Hannah Swenson was really good and it’s been awhile since I saw a new mystery. Really looking forward to this.

Griffin has joined the Army.
The prayer event was fantastic! Thanks for the reminder. We didn’t see it all, but enjoyed what we did see. Laura was flawless, as always.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to also say that we were floored by all the changes on County Rescue. I totally wasn’t expecting what happened to Ashley. Then all the others leaving too. I’m glad you warned us that it was going to be intense & emotional. Even still, it was a shock. Christie
County Rescue- that was definitely difficult to watch. -Maria
ReplyDeleteCounty Rescue Season 3 introduces several new cast members & characters to the rescue crew. You can stream the latest episodes on Great American Pure Flix or tune into the broadcast on Great American Family.
ReplyDeleteThe new cast members & characters include:
Christian Schupe as James Peterson: A new team member who joins the rescue crew in the Season 3 opener. A courageous new trainee an Army medic. A military background as an Army medic is prominently featured, bringing a unique tactical and highly disciplined medical skill set to the high-stakes EMT missions alongside the rest of the crew.
Alyssa Gonzalez as Emma Spencer: Another new addition to the response crew. She is a rookie EMT/trainee whose journey focuses on learning the ropes of first responder work alongside the established, close-knit crew.
Hillary Harley as Brianna: A new character introduced this season.
She focuses on the personal & professional journeys of EMTs and paramedics
Lauren Pike as Rose Parker: A new member of the expanded team. She’s part of the newest wave of EMT trainees joining the crew. A rookie in a high-stakes, life-and-death environment, she brings fresh energy & faces the same physical & emotional hurdles as the other trainees.
Tanya Christiansen as Lisa Miller: An additional face joining the cast for Season 3. A supporting character who is the Mother of the lead paramedic, Dani Miller. Lisa is a homemaker & parent who initially pushes Dani to pursue a more prestigious medical career, serving as an opposing force to her Daughter's calling as an EMT
Key Character Arcs & Updates:
Dani (played by Julia Reilly): Steps up into a more mature & meaningful mentorship role, guiding the newer trainees on the crew. She put in the spotlight as she steps up to become a fully-fledged leader on the team.
Liz Santiago (played by Stacy Patino): Celebrates a major milestone this season after successfully being accepted as a fire medic. Liz transfers to County Fire.
Griffin Fornes (previously played by Keller Fornes): Will not be returning. The show will thoughtfully address the absence of his character & pay a respectful tribute to the late actor, who passed away unexpectedly in 2024. He’s the cocky, happy-go-lucky son of the fire chief who works as a probationary EMT competing for a permanent position on the team.
Duke Hills (portrayed by Percy Bell) - DUKE IS dedicated & stoic EMT. In the third season of the show, Duke remains part of the Station 72 crew as they continue to balance their high-stakes first responder duties with their personal lives & faith. Duke & his wife relocate to be closer to her parents
Marcos Santos (portrayed by Angel Luis) - A deeply compassionate EMT & serves as Duke’s best friend. The character is known for being funny, smooth, & having a big heart.
Ashley Dalton (portrayed by Kristin Wollett) - A senior EMT & one of the best first responders at the station who is married to fellow paramedic Andy Dalton. She’s stationed as an EMT. accepts a new job as a Medivac/flight paramedic at a different station. Andy is anxiously waiting for Ashley to return from her helicopter training. Ultimately, her new role as a flight medic takes her elsewhere, changing the team dynamic.
Chief Scotty Travis (portrayed Tim Perez-Ross) - the wise, outdoorsy, and experienced Chief of Station 72. He acts as the backbone of the station, using a mix of homespun wisdom, high expectations, & leadership to guide his team of EMTs through high-stakes
That was the longest County Rescue based on time and it felt it. With Ashley moving on to another job, it felt unnecessary to get rid of her character in that way. The acting was all great by everyone, but what a disappointment and downer. Robert
ReplyDeleteI bawled through the entire episode of County Rescue Season 3 Episode 1. Such a difficult episode to get through, but my goodness did the actors do a terrific job. I'll have to read through Julia Reilly's watch-along on facebook to get her perspective of filming that episode. I am kind of excited by the changes though and see what these new characters will bring to the station!
ReplyDeleteThe new Hannah Swensen movie was great. I liked getting to see more of Chad working as a prosecuting attorney, it added something different to the story. The mystery was good, and there are some fun moments, too.
