🎣 Reel In the Father’s Day Weekend Watch List: Classic Father-Themed Movies, Sitcom Favorites, and More

Happy Father's Day Weekend, Friends, and Happy Flag Day and 250th Anniversary of the Army...

Father’s Day is such a special time to pause and thank God for the gift of fathers, those strong, steady, and faithful men who lead with unconditional love.

First and foremost, we all have the constant love of our Heavenly Father, whom we can always turn to for direction and peace.

I feel incredibly grateful for my own Daddy, a hardworking farmer whose hands are strong from working the land but whose heart is gentle, steady, and rooted in faith. Whether he’s out in the fields working from sunrise to sunset or quietly praying over our family, my Daddy leads with love, strength, and humility. I thank God every day for the blessing of being raised by a father who leads with quiet strength and a momma whose love and faith have always been the heart of our home.

A very Happy Father's Day to all the dads, fathers, daddies, da-das, grandpas, grandaddies, grandfathers, pa-pas, and more who visit here!

Whether you're honoring your father, grandfather, or a father figure in your life, I hope this special day is filled with love, gratitude, and sweet memories!

And of course, no Father's Day would be complete without watching a few of our favorite father-themed movies, with those heartwarming stories that remind us just how important a father’s role truly is.

See what's airing this weekend below.

Saturday, June 14, 2025:

Happy Flag Day and 250th Anniversary of the Army

Celebrate this patriotic day by watching the Army's 250th Birthday Parade, fireworks, and more festivities!

My father served in the Army, so this event is especially meaningful to our family, and I can imagine that those of you with family and friends who have also served in the Army feel a similar pride in their contributions and in our country.

This timing of this feels particularly significant considering all that is unfolding worldwide. When the news of the bombing came across the TV last night (Thursday), I froze for a minute, then I started praying for peace for America and our allies throughout the world. May God be with all who serve to protect our freedom.

This special event to honor the Army on Saturday, June 14th, will be televised by numerous media outlets, including Real America's Voice, RSBN, Fox News, Newsmax, and Merit TV, among others.

New Movies:

For those of you wondering, yes, there are also two new movies this weekend. (Please see reviews below.)

The Hallmark Channel is premiering To Barcelona, Forever on Saturday night, and UPtv has Two Chefs and a Wedding Cake on Sunday.

To Barcelona, Forever is the second movie in a 2-part movie series. See reviews for the first film, "To Barcelona, with Love," below.

And I've also included reviews below for UPtv's Two Chefs and a Wedding Cake.

Movie Reviews "To Barcelona, with Love" :

🎬 What a disappointment! Once again Hallmark ruined a perfectly good movie , the Barcelona movie, by introducing a gay attraction. Don’t know what happened after that because I switched channels. ~Anonymous

🎬 Another Ashley Williams NOT family friendly movie. Totally unnecessary. ~JoCo

🎬 My husband and I watched "To Barcelona, with Love" last night. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about it. I adore Alison and Ashley. They both did a good job in the movie. Bonus points for a different storyline (with regard to Alison and Ashley only) and for a gorgeous location. And, I thought Alison and Ashley's friendship was sweet and believable.

*** Spoiler Alert ** However, there were several things that bothered me. There was a same-sex storyline that disappointed me. Why?? And, I did not think Nico had chemistry with either one of the female leads. Seriously, I felt Alison and Ashley had better chemistry. I don't think I will watch the second installment. ~Joan

🎬 About the 45-50 minute mark in To Barcelona With Love, I deleted it. There is a same sex side couple who meet and it's very obvious this is no longer family friendly. Very disappointed but with Ashley Williams and Alison Sweeny I was leery of this movie and had my guard up. Sad as it was a fresher story. ~Anonymous

Movie Reviews "Two Chefs and a Wedding Cake" :

🎬 Reel One's Two Chefs and a Wedding Cake has a gay caterer. -Maria

🎬 I remember enjoying Two Chefs And A Wedding Cake despite a gay character in the cast - Florence

And a bonus movie review snippet from IMDB:

🎬 Let's be generous: there's something comforting about harmless fluff you can watch once and forget immediately. But if you're expecting real chemistry or a storyline that lasts in your memory beyond the credits, think again. Reel One clearly wanted to channel Hallmark-style wedding magic-and nailed the formula-but missed on originality and staying power.

Verdict: Five stars earned for hitting every romantic trope box, nailing the formula, and delivering just barely enough charm to watch once-if you're in the mood for disposable fluff. But don't expect to fall in love with it ... just fall into old tropes. ~RemoteWarrior

ONE WEEKEND AWAY!!!

MERRY MOVIE WEEKEND is NEXT WEEKEND - June 21st and June 22nd - on Hallmark Mystery!

And if you're wondering... yes, the network changed the title of the event from Merry Movie Week to Merry Movie Weekend, as the event now takes place only on Saturday and Sunday. (What does this mean for the Christmas movie season on Hallmark Mystery? Will the network scale back its Christmas programming, too? What's your guess? Please share in comments below.)

Although the celebration on Hallmark Mystery is smaller this year during their annual Christmas in June, the Hallmark Channel will more than make up for it... with their celebration beginning June 27th and lasting the whole month of July! Plus, you'll find Christmas classics from the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Mystery, too! Be sure to look for your favorites in the Christmas Movie Schedule.

(Please note: there could be some schedule changes, so be sure to bookmark the page and check back for any edits and additions!)

  5. Such a sweet shoutout to all the awesome dads! ❤️

Can’t believe we are a week away from Merry Movie Week. It’s lame they couldn’t give us the whole week, but at least they had the sense to include A Little Christmas Charm, an absolute gem!

  6. I loved seeing Allie and Nathan in your picture. I just watched the scene when she first calls him dad and cried.

I’m over the moon grateful for my dad. He’s the most giving man I know, he works hard to provide for us, makes quality time with us and leads us regularly in the Word. Love is an action and He shows it every day.
I hope everyone here has a special day with their fathers and if they are no longer here I pray for a whole day of precious memories.

  7. Happy Father’s Day weekend everyone! I never grew up with my dad, but have a wonderful mother who planted that seed of God within us. I am so thankful for my Heavenly Father who has given me the strength and peace to forgive my own dad. And so thankful that he blessed me with my husband who is such an amazing father to our children.
    Have a blessed weekend everyone!

  8. I do not feel that Hallmark makes up for HMM not having movies on because they do play a few classics, they do not play very often, and are likely in the middle of the night. I do hope HMM does not stop doing christmas, as I will likely only watch other networks Christmas. HM plays mostly their new agenda movies, and the pet actors and actresses they have. At least with HMM we got some of the older movies and more often and I would leave that channel on all day.

And Hallmark Family, they at least last year did weekends of classics. Hope they still do, but I will never forget the 1st year of HM Drama then, they played 24/7 all classics, like Thanksgiving House, All I want for christmas, Matchmaker Christmas, Meet the santas, many movies I never see anymore. It was so great and I left that channel on day and night. I moved to HMM day and night, but will not for HM. There are just so many bad Christmas movies, mostly cause they have to make so many, that you rarely see the old good ones, or they are on at 2 am.

Just my opinion. I like to keep GAF on but they just do not have enough movies and rarely acquire old ones, so it is the same movies every few days.

    1. I totally agree Sabrina, I wish they played the older movies during Christmas in July and Christmas time. I have yet so see many of them, including Matchmaker Christmas. Many of them my mom has seen and recommends to me so hopefully I can see one day on either Hallmark Family or Hallmark Mystery.

    2. Unfortunately, due to shady biz practices, most of the networks no longer work with Larry Levinson (didn't pay screenwriters their residuals-look him up), so movies like Matchmaker Santa & The T-giving House are now only on his channel that he is majority investor in-Pixl. Hallmark didn't renew licenses on the movies once they expired so there are many of those movies only on Pixl that originally aired on Hallmark. That was done before Bill & Michelle left the network.

  9. So I watched the 2nd Barcelona movie and I agree with other reviews above regarding the first one, totally unnecessary to add the gay friend finding a boyfriend in the first movie πŸ˜• Aside from that I really enjoyed both movies. The scenery was beautiful, the friendship between Ashley and Allison was very natural and sweet. I agree there was not much chemistry between Allison and the guy in the first movie, but I feel the second movie was a better fit with Ashley and her guy. I feel it was more about friendship than love.
