πŸŽ„ How To Make Your Home Look Like A Festive, Joyous, Merry And Bright Christmas Movie πŸŽ„

'Tis the Season
for decorating our homes
 once again, for Christmas!

Have any of you begun to bring out your favorite holiday pieces, or do you wait until November or after Thanksgiving?

Whenever you choose to begin, there's nothing like bringing out the nostalgic Christmas items we cherish once again, that have been tucked away ever-so-gently for safekeeping since last year. Even the ones that have little flaws are still meaningful.

My favorite Christmas decoration is our Nativity, which celebrates the birth of Jesus, the main focus of our Christmas celebration.

So, whether it's our Nativity, the stockings, ornaments, and so on, I cherish those older pieces and look forward each year to adding new items that will one day be treasured mementos.

As I watch the Christmas movies currently airing on TV, I'm often mesmerized by all of the beautiful homes decorated so festively and lovely, with the twinkling lights of Christmas trees, garlands, wreaths, gingerbread houses, Christmas villages, and more!

I wanted to share today some beautiful new Christmas pieces you might want to add to your home this holiday season...

    1. Mark 25, I agree! It's amazing and wonderful how many options there are these days.

That one scene in Christmas Wreaths and Ribbons where they looked at various Nativity sets was really special, but to be honest, I'm not sure I would want to bring a treasured family heirloom Nativity set to an event like that. I'd be concerned a piece might get broken or lost.

  2. Hi Net, we are taking out all of our Christmas decorations this weekend and our tree will be up by Sunday after church so I am sooooo excited! I decorate early just because it’s so much work to only have up for a few weeks in December so I have been doing it early at the end of October for years. And I’m with you, I love looking at all the Christmas decorations in all the movies. It’s one of my favorite parts of the movie.

    1. Paula, I love it!!! Have lots of fun decorating your home this weekend for Christmas!!! We've been decorating, too! I agree, it's a lot of work... so we might as well enjoy it a little longer! Plus, I heard someone say recently, that those who decorate sooner are happier people. So, that's a good reason, too!!! :)

      Have a wonderful time!!!

  3. Hallmark is being sued for age discrimination. (and honestly, after reading this, they deserve it!!).

    1. Interesting article. I'm not a fan of the "new" Hallmark, nor that VP, but this lawsuit sounds more like whining by a bitter and disgruntled (79-year-old!!) worker. And as for finding new actors and actresses to step in as others age and move on, that makes complete and total business sense in order to keep the movies rolling for movie fans and keep the company profitable in order to pay all the employees. The VP reportedly said, “Lacey’s getting older and we have to find someone like her to replace her as she gets older." In general, this VP sounds like an abrasive, royal piece of work but, as an "older"-ish woman myself, I see nothing wrong with that particular statement. Lacey (and Holly Robinson Peete, mentioned in the article) are both getting older and there comes a point where they're just not believable in rom-coms about young love. That being said, I think these companies are missing the boat with the huge number of baby boomers out there who would like to see some clean, mature romances with more mature stars (similar to the recent Christmas movies with Terri Hatcher - "Christmas at the Chalet" and "How to Fall in Love by Christmas"). There's so much potential with these seasoned and beloved stars! Baby boomers have the money to spend more than the younger market (although I think the younger market would be more responsive to advertising dollars on streaming), plus boomers are more likely to be paying for traditional cable television. But I do imagine it's quite difficult for Hallmark and other networks to walk the new line between cable and streaming and find a way to make a profit and stay in business. 🀷‍♀️

    2. Well said, Jane.

    3. Jane, your comment on the article is so right on! I thought the same thing - it makes sense for Hallmark to want to bring on new young talent to replace some of the current ones who are "aging out" of the young love storylines. And it would make so much sense for Hallmark to develop even more movies that cater to an aging audience who would love to see the established actors in more mature love stories. Hallmark responded to the suit as "outrageous allegations". It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

    4. Oh, and one more thing to add to my previous comment...I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing the established actors (those like Paul Greene and Jill Wagner) play the role of parents in upcoming movies. I know that this had started to happen in at least a couple of cases.

  4. Off the topic here, but is anybody reading or planning to read Bethany Joy Lenz's book about her cult life that just came out? I've just started reading it, and so far, the point I am taking away from it is how important it is for everyone to have a loving and nurturing family in their life. I am so grateful that my parents provided that for me, and Net, it is obvious that your family has always provided that for you, and I hope and pray that is the case for everyone here. And that as adults, we are providing support to others as necessary! Bethany Joy did not have that at all growing up, and it lead to her being manipulated into a cult. I had never realized...

    1. Mark 25, I've been seeing Bethany post about her book on social media, and I've seen bits and pieces of interviews she's been doing for it. I feel just awful for her and all that she went through.

I've heard some of her co-stars on One Tree Hill were there for her at the time, but not all. Recently, it's been said that she and Hilarie Burton are not talking, so I'm not exactly sure what the situation is there.

After "A Biltmore Christmas" was such a hit last year for Hallmark, I've been rather surprised that Bethany did not star in a new Christmas movie for Hallmark this year. Perhaps, it was her decision, based on her book coming out now.

She has briefly talked about being in this cult before, however with this book release, she is more fully giving details on what exactly took place.

I'm not sure if I will read it, but I would love to hear your thoughts on it, Mark.

You are so right on how important it is to have a loving family and their support. My heart really goes out to Bethany and all that she has been through, but it's good she is speaking out now, and I hope this is healing for her and helps others going through similar circumstances.

    2. Net, apparently Hilarie is upset that the cover of Bethany's book closely resembles the cover of hers. I know, really??

I finished the book and it is definitely an adult book due to the language and some of the goings-on. And yes, you really do feel sorry for Bethany and all of the others who were manipulated like her, but that said, I do not feel she is totally blameless - she should have realized much earlier not to put all of her trust into these people, especially with the signs and advice she was getting from so many of her friends, coworkers and relatives.

    2. Those three little trees are very cute! And just one set would be perfect for adding a little festive sparkle to a small area, like tucked on a bookshelf or side table or powder room or guest room. I think I may add them to my next Amazon order. ~~Jane πŸŽ„
