The Olympic Games in Paris - Summer 2024

PLEASE READ MY UPDATE BELOW...

Coverage of the Opening Ceremony and Games will air on NBC and stream on Peacock - Friday, July 26, 2024 through Sunday, August 11, 2024.

I'll certainly be cheering on our USA athletes, and I've heard Celine Dion will be one of the many highlights during the Opening Ceremony.

During a previous prelude to the Olympics, my family and I were able to see the torch as it traveled across the United States. That was such a fun time, and almost everyone (you could fill it in the air!) felt such patriotic pride for our athletes and the red, white, and blue!

Hopefully, there won't be any woke, funny business, and our American athletes will be respectful of our flag and National Anthem.

I pray all countries involved in the Olympics will be peaceful and safe during the course of these competitive games.

UPDATE: Sadly, I spoke too soon. I just wanted to warn you all that there was a mockery made of the Christian faith in the opening ceremony of the Olympics. They used woke people to act out The Last Supper.

In their despicable reenactment, Jesus is replaced with an obese woman, while queer and trans figures pretend to represent the disciples. It was sickening.

Blue Ridge: The Series
begins this Sunday on INSP

For those of you who did not see this series when it aired on the Cowboy Way Channel this Spring, you will have another opportunity! "Blue Ridge: The Series" will air weekly, beginning this Sunday, on INSP at 9PM ET.

About "Blue Ridge: The Series": In BLUE RIDGE: THE SERIES, Johnathon Schaech reprises his role as Sheriff Justin Wise from the movie, Blue Ridge. The six-episode procedural crime drama is set in the lush but forbidding mountains of North Carolina, where Sheriff Justin Wise, a modern-Western hero, endeavors to uphold the law while living in a small Appalachian town that time and justice has forgotten.

I hope you all have a very nice last weekend in July! I'm holding on to these beautiful Summer days as long as I can... it's hard to believe the school season is beginning already.

I'm going to watch the new Great American Family movie on Saturday night, and I'm going to enjoy Christmas in July and the Olympics as much as I can, as well as spending time with my family! I hope your weekend is relaxing, busy, and fun!

Blessings to You All,
Net

  1. Not sure how much coverage I'll be able to see, but I'll certainly still be cheering on Team USA!!

As for movies, that depends on if I'm in the mood. -Maria

    1. Net, THANK YOU for posting this about the Olympics. I've had a looong, stressful day and finally got to sit down and relax and turned on the replay of the Olympics opening ceremony and also went online to check emails and stuff and came on here to see about any movie news. I'm so thankful you posted this warning because I've been unplugged all day and hadn't heard about it. I'm so mad and disappointed because I was looking forward to the whole Olympics but now I'm considering boycotting the whole simply because of this. It's beyond disrespectful that they did that!! It's sickening!! ~~Jane

    2. I am so glad that I did not even plan on watching the opening ceremonies. I saw the the picture and I am sick. I will not watch one hour of the Olympics.

    3. They banned them???

    4. It is because of performances like that I don't even bother watching the Superbowl or Olympics.

    5. I never had an interest to watch the opening and closing ceremonies, but that is just awful. I was considering paying the $8 for the month, but decided against it since I’ll be away. But not now for sure. What is happening to our country who used to fear God. And say His name with respect.
Thank you Net for this warning. I’ll try to catch the replays on YouTube.

    6. I am appalled!!! I cannot believe such blasphemy could go on. I’m so glad I missed it. (Was babysitting my niece and nephew. ☺️) It’s disgusting to think of!!! I expect them to be swallowed up by the earth. I cannot believe God would let that go by unpunished. I know they will get punished in hell, but I think something like that should get theirs now! Many times God did it for (seemingly) less in the Bible. Yuck! -Anonymous1

I was not watching the Opening Ceremony at that time either. I had only turned there for less than a minute to catch the end of Celine Dion singing.

Instead, I was watching The Believers' Summit with Turning Point USA Faith, when I was contacted by a friend of what was taking place at the Olympics. I'm also hearing there were more displays of Satanic acts/rituals. The images I've seen are extremely appalling, and frankly, I don't want to see the videos.

I've seen many Christians speaking out against this last night and today, and it makes me proud to see so many people standing up for Christian values.

This scripture keeps repeating over and over in my mind...

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." ~Galatians 6:7 (KJV)

      Blessings to you all, Net

    8. After seeing that blasphemous display, I’m out. I can’t be part of supporting this.

    9. I never watch the opening ceremonies. I only care to watch and support the hard working athletes and seeing their dreams come true. I have been glued to the tv all weekend watching the swimming, biking, beach volleyball, gymnastics. Simone Biles is simply awesome.

On Sat AM, I knew the games came on at like 4 or 5 am, so I turned the channel on, and did catch Celine Dions performance (it must have been a replay of the end of ceremonies). She is so amazing and her voice, i can't even describe it. I was like is that Celine Dion? Then I knew, cause I was always a big fan of hers. She is 56 years old, and not that I am saying anything bad about age, but her voice is probably better than it was when she was young back in 1989 with her 1st song Where does my heart beat now. It was all in French, but I couldn't help but get tears in my eyes and her amazing voice.

I did hear of what they did on friday night and knew i would not even watch that stuff anyway. I already knew they would do some woke or terrible stuff. When I heard Dr. Jill would be there, I was like no, can't do it even if I wanted to.

But I have thoroughly enjoyed the awesome weekend and our American athletes and more good stuff today with mens gym and more swimming :) Can't wait til track this weekend. I fully well knew I would not get any sleep this next 2 weeks. I couldnt get up at 5 this Am to watch swimming prelim's but did record and will try to watch before i see online who qualified. I have a work set up at my dining room table so I can watch swim finals this afternoon. By the time the 8 pm NBC special comes on, I have already saw all that happened. The olympics (Summer) for me are like a kid getting ready to open Christmas gifts on Christmas AM.

I was sad Christmas in July was ending, but so happy to have the olympics and then nfl football coming back, and October will be here before we know it. Sure hope we get some real fall movies this year.

    10. You and I feel the same way Sabrina.

I've managed to catch a bit of the real early morning events (badminton, table tennis, archery), and the primetime coverage has been amazing! -Maria

    11. Wow, Sabrina, you are truly a diehard sports enthusiast!! It's really fun to hear how much you enjoy all the different sports events! 😃 I always love to watch the Olympics, but I don't think I can come close to your high level of enjoyment. Like you, I often skip most of the opening and closing ceremonies because they are usually a bit too over-the-top, but I do like to watch a little bit and see the excitement and joy of all the athletes gathered together at the beginning and end. Unfortunately, this year's opening ceremony just threw me for a loop!! But I then decided to go ahead and watch the sports coverage because I respect the courage and determination and work ethic of most of these athletes and want to cheer them on. I'm especially thrilled with the athletes who boldly profess their faith in Christ. I just wish I had more time to watch all the different sports. As it is, I'm taping the primetime coverage and then zipping through and ignoring the huge number of commercials. Unfortunately, primetime coverage only hits what NBC has deemed to be the high points and I end up missing some of the other good moments. I just wish I had more time (and dvr space!) available these two weeks but, oh well, at least I'm seeing some of it. (Although, I'm glad I wasn't watching with young children when NBC was going on and on about British men's diver and his husband and children!) ~~Jane

    12. Hey Jane :)
I get up earlier in the AM to see some of the prelim's for swimming and the gymnastics (that was over the weekend). I recorded the womens gymnastics yesterday but ended up watching while working at work on Peacock. I go in Tuesdays and work at home all other days, but do not have a tv in my office. I am glad I have Peacock.

The pattern is prelims in AM and then finals or semis in afternoon. Sometimes I skip the prelims but I think Thursday or Friday is Caeleb Dressel 50m prelim and I always watch him, plus the 50m is awesome and fun to watch prelim or final.

I love the Triathalon too, but couldn 't catch all womens today. Thurs AM is the mens walking 20k. I am recording it, but I enjoyed that in 2021.

Friday starts the track and field, and I am certain I will get no sleep. This is my all time favorite. I LOVE to watch the prelims and then there are quarters and semis and then finals. We have so many great athletes, these I usually prefer the womens (do not know too many of the men). Gabby Thomas is amazing. Of course, Sydney McLaughlin is one of the best. I know the girl doing the 1500 and I think 5k works on a farm in the northeast. I LOVE the steeplechase. And I love to watch the mens and womens marathon. The relays too, so amazing. I have looked forward to the track since last day of 2021 olympics. I used to run a lot, now I do more walking, so this is my favorite. I love long distance running. If my knee was not such an issue I am sure I would still run.

What has surprised me that I have enjoyed this year was the mens gymnastics. Its so amazing the strength they have in their arms. I was in tears seeing the men win a medal for the 1st time since 2008.

I do still catch the primetime, but I am usually doing chores and such then and have already watched most of it. My husband will catch what I haven't already told him. But you are right, they pick and choose, and they space out the events and make you wait til 11 pm to see the best event.

I just find it so amazing the hard work these athletes put in. So much of this is self discipline, I do like team sports but you can rely on other things in team sports, but when its this individual stuff you have so much sacrifice and dedication and if you don't there is nothing else. I find that dedication awesome. And then like Simone and Caeleb they had to find the love again in the sport. They win so much and were the best, but didn't feel happy and they went and found happiness again and came back.

      Sabrina

  13. Didn’t know where to post this….
Ainsley McGregor Mystery: A Case for the Winemaker: So nice to have a new mystery to watch. Got to watch it on Pureflix this weekend. It was a good movie! I liked the townspeople and how they all participated and came together and I liked the brother and sister relationship. That’s something new for mysteries. Other than that, it was a pretty ordinary movie. There was one or two elements of suspense but a very obvious culprit from the beginning. It was very weird how it kind of rubbed on Aurora Teagarden with the club and all. It actually had aspects of Garage Sale and Mystery 101 as well. It was also weird how they mentioned Christmas a couple times. Was it supposed to be a Christmas movie? If so, they needed to continue the holiday throughout the movie. If not, why confuse the viewers by mentioning it?
Overall, an obvious watch! How often can you get a mystery movie that you know will be clean from the get go?!! I really hope they take the time to improve the next ones. We need that intrigue and suspense that will hook us for the next installment!

***Spoiler*** I really liked how, in the end, the culprit owned up to what they did. That speaks a lot of moral that isn’t often seen in movies! - Anonymous1

    2. The Sweetest Christmas is actually Lacey Chabert’s Christmas

CCB & Cameron’s Christmas is all about Jingle Bells, Wedding Bells

      Wedding Jingle Bells Christmas

Jingle Bells all the way to the to the wedding bells

I notice the flyer saying From Jingle Bells to the Wedding Bells

      Look like Jingle Bell Wedding

What is the jingle bell wedding send off?

      The Jingle Bell Send-Off
In past times, the Celts believed that church bells could ward off evil spirits and grant wishes so all newlyweds were blessed with their own special ringing of the bells after the ceremony

An original INSP movie that Net posted about prior to its original premiere is on BYU on Monday, 8/05 @ 12:00 AM EST/Sunday, 8/04 @ 11:00 PM CST. Like many movies airing on BYU, this movie is only 90 minutes which I appreciate. The movie’s title is “Heritage Falls”. I haven’t seen it but plan to. 19. Sweet Maple Romance was okay….just a one time watch for me. It’s rare that a Reel One movie will blow me away. Okay on another note, I was shocked to see Lindsay Hartley in the movie. I totally remember watching the soap opera Passions when I was in maybe junior high and I got in trouble when my mom found out. I remember Lindsay from the soap opera, she looks the same, it’s crazy. Just made me laugh as I remembered being sneaky and watching it with my younger sister, and then we would get grounded from watching our favorite shows, and my brother getting in trouble for watching Simpsons, Lol

  20. After seeing the opening ceremony, we have decided to boycott watching the olympics. To make a mockery of our Lord is going way to far. And then for so many people to think there is nothing wrong with it, well it shouldn't surprise me considering the condition of the world. I would hope that all christians would boycott watching the olympics.
