I'm going to watch some of the wonderful classic Christmas movies that are actually airing today; I especially want to see one of my dear favorites, Snow Bride! I love how Susie Abromeit plays such a nasty character so well, and now she portrays such sweet roles in her Great American Family movies.

I always love to catch Snow Bride whenever it's on, and I love that this special movie landed today on July 25th!

Yesterday, I must also share with you all, I rewatched something very meaningful; it's not a Christmas movie from Hallmark or Great American Family.

I watched The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, which is a heartwarming, touching Christmas Special from 1983! I remember seeing it on video years ago, and when I found it available on DVD, I immediately snatched it up for my collection. Although it is not the best-looking production, and it may have been created on a shoestring budget, I still consider it to be an absolute treasure. If you're familiar with the show, Mash, then you'll recognize Margaret Houlihan, as the mother.

In the story of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, the Herdmen children are social outcasts among the other children in Sunday school, but when they become involved in the church's annual nativity pageant, they share a love for Jesus that noone in the community expected as their hearts are transformed.

If you've never seen The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, I discovered a recording of it on YouTube - here:

Also, if you haven't heard, a brand-new "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" movie is coming to the theater this Christmas! Personally, I am so invested in the original that I'm not sure anything new could match or surpass the original, but I hope it still has the same warm feeling.

This is the trailer for the new "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" movie:

I hope you all have a Happy July 25th as we Countdown to Christmas!

If you plan to watch something Christmassy today, please share in comments below.

Have a Merry Day!

  1. Aw nuts, I forgot today was the 25th. Got no time today for a Christmas movie, but I love Snow Bride as well. Even own it in a 3 DVD collection. :)

BTW, I'm hearing from a GAF Facebook group that Bill Abbott recently sent out an email. I still haven't gotten it, but has anyone else? -Maria

Oh my! So many choices! I'm watching The Christmas Note. One of my favorites. I wish Hallmark had continued the Wilsonville series. I see that it was a series of books by Donna Van Liere. Loved the feel of the 2 movies they did make.

    1. Joyce, I so agree! That series of films centered around the town of Wilsonville are all wonderful!

I remember Donna VanLiere being on Home & Family to promote one of them; I believe it was "The Christmas Secret."

Donna has another book about the nativity that I always thought would make a wonderful film, but unfortunately, it hasn't happened, yet. Maybe one day!

      Enjoy "The Christmas Note"!

    2. Joyce, I just had to add... after I wrote my comment to you earlier about Donna VanLiere being on Home & Family, I looked it up and they still have this wonderful interview on the Hallmark Channel web-site. Donna does discuss "The Christmas Secret" and her book, which was new at the time, called "The Christmas Light."

If you'd like to see her interview, here's the link:

Thank you Net! I watched the clip. Enjoyed the interview very much! We can still hope that maybe one day Hallmark might revisit Wilsonville! I'm considering buying the books in the mean time! Side note: I miss Home and Family!

  3. I think Susie is in a Hallmark Christmas movie this year. Unless she has a twin (like Celeste & Jocelyn-those two look almost identical), she's in the early promo wearing a military uniform hugging someone in the beginning of the promo.

    1. Thank you for sharing this. I don't think I've seen this particular Christmas promo, yet. Did you see it on TV or on-line somewhere?

    2. Anon, Thank you for sharing the promo with me. I remember seeing it at the beginning of Christmas in July, as well. I believe Hallmark uploaded it to YT and took it down and replaced it with a shortened version.

  4. Snow Bride...What a wonderful choice, Net, and while it is one of my favorites, for some reason (time, I guess) I didn't get around to watching it last season. So I will partner with you and watch it this evening!

    1. Mark 25, Enjoy re-watching "Snow Bride" tonight! In addition to the great chemistry with the leads, phenomenal cast, and fantastic dialogue, I also love the background music chosen for this movie. It's simply great all-around!

      Happy Mark the 25th!!! :)

    2. Net, I had never paid attention to the background music until I watched Snow Bride last night. You're right - the background music is another plus for this movie - I hadn't realized how many religious songs they incorporated in it! Also, I forgot how adept Katrina Law is at comedy! It makes me want to go watch 12 Gifts of Christmas now!

    3. I love that song at the end… “I want to be wrapped up in love!”🎶

    1. Gigi, I also love "A Christmas for the Ages"! All four generations of women in this movie are incredible!

Like you, I also enjoy all of the singing at the end, and I also love Giles Panton's big smile while he's dancing behind his wife (on the far right of the stage)! It always puts a smile on my face, too! :)

Happy 5 Months 'til Christmas to You!!!

    2. Net, I would love to see a sequel perhaps a Christmas wedding for Savannah with trying on all of their wedding dresses.

    3. Gigi, Yes! A wedding sequel with all of the family back would be great! I love that idea! :)

  6. Happy 25! I haven’t had that much time to watch lately. I am preparing for a roadtrip to TX to spend a couple weeks with family we have seen in years. Staying in a cabin that has an indoor slide, but really excited to see my baby nephews. But when I get back home, I have to plop on my bed and turn on the tv. Something Jen Lilley sounds good. 😊

    1. Abigail, That sounds like sooo much fun! Have a wonderful, safe trip and cherish this special time with your family!!!

A Jen Lilley movie when you return sounds like an excellent way to unwind.

      Take care, my friend!!! :)
      God bless!!!

    2. Have fun Abigail! Staying in a cabin sounds so fun; I have always wanted to stay in one. When I was growing up we went camping every year, but really camping in tents and I would cry I hated it so much Lol We live in California so we would go to Big Bear a lot to camp. Our 6 year old keeps asking to go camping (and know her and our 3 year old would love it) and I told my husband I am only going if it’s in a cabin, I’m in my 30s now so I cannot do tents anymore.

    3. Thanks Paula! I lived in Southern California my first 10 years. Lived in Orange County and later Yucaipa. I loved it there. No humidity or allergies! If I was to tent, that’s where I’d want to be. Not here. In someways California is cooler than the south.

Yes!! Stay away from tents! I turned 30 this year, but never did like outdoor sleeping. Anyway isn’t that what dads are for! Hahaha;)

  7. Here is the last post about Baby Gus. It is very sweet and touching. He is safe with His Lord, no longer suffering.

  8. It's supposed to be a rainy night, so perfect for getting cozy and watching a Christmas movie! I watched Snow Bride last month, otherwise I'd watch along with Net and Mark 25. I think I'm going to finally watch one of last year's top movies that I still haven't watched. I saved the best for last, but I still haven't watched them -- no idea why not.🤷‍♀️ So, tonight it's going to be either Heaven Down Here, A Biltmore Christmas, or Miracle in Bethlehem, PA. (But I'm also kind of in the mood to re-watch A Paris Christmas Waltz, so...) Should be a good night, either way! 🎄 ~~Jane

    1. Jane, I had also saved a few Christmas ones from last season that I was saving to watch. And I don’t know what the deal is with my DVR but it will randomly delete my recordings! So bummed USS Christmas got deleted last year and this time it deleted a couple others I really wanted to watch. I’ll have to keep my eye out for them to replay them come this holiday season.

    2. Jane, All of your options are great ones! You really couldn’t go wrong with whatever movie you chose. “Biltmore” and “Bethlehem” are both excellent! “Heaven Down Here” is interesting. And of course, you already know and love “A Paris Christmas Waltz”!

I always TRY to save the best for last too! And those movies you mentioned were some of my last ones, as well!

I hope you enjoy them ALL whenever you have the opportunity to watch! Net

    3. Paula, I sure hope they replay USS Christmas for you! I was so disappointed they didn’t play it on or around the 4th of July. Maybe they’ll give it an airing around Veterans Day. I just adore Trevor & Jen in it together! Net

    4. Ugh, Paula, that's so frustrating! Hopefully, they'll replay USS Christmas again (maybe in October?). It's such a cute movie!

And, Net, I managed to squeeze in two movies last night. I liked Heaven Down Here, but I loved Miracle in Bethlehem, Pa. :) ~~Jane

    5. Jane, I'm so glad you also loved "Miracle in Bethlehem, Pa."! It is such a special one. I love the part where he shares his father's favorite scripture and so much more. The leads are exceptional and the supporting cast is also phenomenal.

Glad you were able to squeeze in two for the 25th! :)

It's kind of hard to believe Christmas in July is mostly over and now we are looking forward to October!!!!

    1. Paula, What a wonderful Christmas movie choice! I have such a soft place in my heart for those "Northpole" movies!!!

I remember all of the special "Northpole" merch they had in stores at the time the movies first premiered, and Hallmark sent me some of it for promoting their movies.

Plus, I may even have the Clementine plush doll - she is sooo cute! If you haven't seen her, someone has the doll on eBay:

I hope you enjoyed your magical return to the Northpole!!!

  13. I watched A Very Corgi Christmas last night with the kids. Everyone liked it. I wish they would make more movies with kids in them like this.

I’ve never seen The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Net, but it looks good. Thanks for the recommendation. Christie

    1. I agree, I love movies with little kids in them! Our daughter just turned 6 so she really enjoys watching them with us. If you haven’t seen them, I recommend “The Christmas Chronicles” with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, there is a part 2 as well. The little girl who plays the daughter is a great actress, she also came in Clifford the Big Red Dog. It’s rated PG, I think the little girl and older brother call each other stupid or said damn when they are fighting, I can’t remember….but I think they are family friendly. We watched on Netflix.

    2. Christie, I agree, too... more movies with children for family viewing would be really nice! It's obvious movies like 'Home Alone' and 'The Santa Clause' have been crowd pleasers for years now.

"A Very Corgi Christmas" is such a sweet little rom-com. I'm glad you enjoyed it with your family! :)

And, if you get a chance to watch "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" sometime, I sure hope you'll enjoy it, too. :)
