August Movie Premieres:

Mr. Manhattan

Premieres: August 3, 2024

Starring: Carlos PenaVega and Alexa PenaVega

Storyline: In "Mr. Manhattan" Carlos PenaVega plays an ambitious attorney who struggles to balance his career and the demands of fatherhood after becoming caretaker to his niece and nephew. Along the way, he’s forced to reevaluate his priorities and lost faith.

Movie Review:

🌟 Mr. Manhattan – I thoroughly enjoyed this family-friendly movie from Great American Pure Flix starring Carlos and Alexa PenaVega.

There is a bit of a sad element to the story, however, as two young children lose their parents in a car accident and must move from their home and live with their Uncle Mason (Carlos PenaVega) in the city. Alexa PenaVega portrays Mason’s ex-fiancΓ©, Dani; the two work together to care for the children after their loss.

Mason is struggling with the decisions he has made with his life and is currently dating a woman, Tish, whom he is obviously not in love with. The children are gradually adapting to life with their Uncle, but there are still difficult moments of sadness and everyday troubles. However, there is also a mix of joy, hope, and peace- with many delightful, uplifting moments, too!

Best of all, faith is also weaved into the movie subtly, but beautifully, as Dani encourages Mason to trust in God when he is discouraged with raising the children, finding the right housing, and his work.

I think most viewers will enjoy this inspirational movie when it premieres on Great American Family. Carlos and Alexa’s performances in this dramatic storyline are excellent, along with the children who portray Carlos’ nephew and niece.

This movie does a good job of showing grief and happy times. It’s a hopeful story of overcoming loss. ~Net

🌟 Mr Manhattan is soooo good! –Maria

🌟 I totally agree. (in response to Maria’s comment) The movie had more debth than a lot that are playing these days. Faith was a better part of the mix, especially since I thought it was subtle and not in your face. We definitely could use more of these. Thought when Alexa held new baby it must have been a hard scene to do. ~JoCo

🌟 We loved Mr. Manhattan! I think it’s Carlos and Alexa’s best movie together, and the kids were fantastic. Christie

🌟 Mr. Manhattan was a great movie! Great story of loss, finding love and returning to faith in God. Good acting all around, but the little girl stole the show! Highly recommend this movie! ~Joyce in Carolina

🌟 Mr. Manhattan is family friendly is tearjerker about Mason Bradley’s life turns upside down when he unexpectedly becomes the sole guardian to his late Brother named Billy’s children named Reuben & AJ after prioritizing his law career at Columbia Law School & ending his engagement. Masan & Dani take care of Reuben & AJ. Reuben & AJ lost their parents named Billy Tanya Bradley in car accident. ~Anonymous

🌟 We did enjoy "Mr. Manhattan'" though. The more movies they do together, the better they are. I love everything Alexa and Carlos believe in and stand for. They are pure magic together. I thought the two child actors were very good. The story line was definitely heavy but the end was uplifting. :-) I am beyond grateful Alexa and Carlos continue to make clean and faith-based movies. We certainly need it as there is so much ugliness in the world today. ~Joan

God's Country Song

Premieres: August 10, 2024

Starring: Justin Gaston, Mariel Hemingway, John Laughlin, Christopher Michael, Justene Alpert, JJ Miller, Coffey Anderson

Storyline: Only God knows if Noah can be the man and father he’s meant to be. Will Noah stop chasing selfish dreams, heal broken relationships and start down God's path for his future?

Movie Reviews:

🌟 LOVED God's Country Song!! -Maria

🌟 I enjoyed God’s Country Song. The little boy is super cute, I only wish the back story could’ve been a little different. Christie

🌟 God’s Country Song – This movie is for a mature audience only. Although this is a faith-based film, there are several adult themes throughout the story.

The main character, Noah, is a budding country music star, who is completely wrapped up in himself; he’s often prideful, disrespectful, and selfish. In the first 15 minutes or so of the movie, Noah learns he has a young 4 year-old son (out of wedlock) who he has been given custody of, but that doesn’t make him change his poor lifestyle choices right away.

For more than an hour into the movie Noah drinks too much and finds himself in a whole lot of trouble. We can clearly see that he has an issue with alcohol abuse and although it is not seen, it is made known that he has been promiscuous with multiple women. Mixed in with his bad attitude and drunken behavior, are verbal fights and a violent bar fight.

However, this is a story about redemption, forgiveness, and rediscovering faith. Noah’s parents provide a stable environment for his son, J.J., and they are the main compass for leading Noah back to God.

The little boy, J.J., is so cute; I only wish we could’ve seen him more throughout the movie.

I hope "God’s Country Song" touches many people who are going through a difficult season, so they can seek forgiveness and discover God’s meaning and ultimate purpose for their life. ~Net

🌟 God’s Country Song is a charming but troubled country singer named Noah Bryan learns he has a 5 years old Son named JJ that he didn’t know existed. Struggling with alcohol addiction, he must know decide whether to raise the boy or leave his family behind to pursue his dream of musical stardom. JJ lost his Mom & he’s with Luanne Harris from CPS. Noah receives a letter until his manager Larry reads to him… He’s a Father of JJ.

Noah arrives at his parents named Jeremiah & Sara Bryan’s place… His family own farm with a stable & a dog named Dash. The Bryan family go the church - the Pastor mentions Philippians 3:8. Cole talks with Larry to give Noah a second chance to sing in front of the crowd .

They edited some content in the movie ~Anonymous

🌟 Net-thank you for the heads up on God's Country Song and the heavier elements, I was glad to know what to be ready for. I haven't decided if I'll let my older teen watch, but I think I may because the story of redemption is really so powerful and it is well done. I liked the parents and their faith and unconditional love for their sone and new grandson. -LR

Nothing is Impossible

Premieres: August 17, 2024

Starring: David A.R. White and Nadia Bjorlin

Storyline: Scott Beck's life has not gone according to plan. Working as a janitor at the high school where he was once the star of the basketball team, he's dealing with an ailing father, a busted truck, and memories of Ryan, the girl he loved long ago. Opportunity soon arises when Ryan, now the owner of the Knoxville Silver Knights, decides to hold open tryouts. Scott tries to make the impossible happen by not only making the team, but getting back the woman he loves.

Movie Review:

πŸ€ Nothing is Impossible – Great American Pure Flix scores with another inspirational film! This movie delves into reflection, regret, and redemption. If you’ve ever seen a Christian film, like ‘God’s Not Dead,’ then you likely recognize the star of “Nothing is Impossible,” David A.R. White.

In “Nothing is Impossible,” David plays Scott Beck, who is fairly low on life and his future until he realizes he might have a second chance at two of his biggest dreams. Rediscovering his faith in God also plays a pivotal role in Scott overcoming past failures.

If you’ve ever watched the Soap Opera, “Days of Our Lives,” then you may recognize David’s co-star, Nadia Bjorlin (who has played Chloe Lane on and off since 1999).

“Nothing is Impossible” is a sports-themed, faith-based movie that will inspire and challenge its viewers to follow the path God has set before them. You’ll find yourself cheering Scott Beck on as he’s determined to pursue his life’s goals.

My family and I enjoyed this uplifting film and its inspiring message. ~Net

πŸ€ Nothing is Impossible is amazing!!

And is anyone grinning ear to ear at that new GAF Christmas trailer with the first footage of A Little Women's Christmas?! -Maria

πŸ€ Nothing is Impossible is a beautiful movie!

I especially liked the scene when Scott sat in on the meeting with the kids at school and they shared a difficulty in their life and their dreams. That was the push Scott needed to go after his.

Great ending, too. I’ll be telling others to watch. Christie

πŸ€ Oh 'Nothing is Impossible' was simply amazing! We loved every minute of it. Knoxville is one of our favorite places and it was nice seeing that lovely city on my tv. But, we also enjoyed the message, the acting, the glory of God's grace on full display. My poor hubby was a mess by the end. I don't understand why the over-all rating on IMDB is so bad. Because that sweet little gem needs to be seen. I am afraid people will see that low rating and dismiss it. Which would be a shame. ~Joan

πŸ€ Nothing Is Impossible is a wonderful faith based movie. Highly recommend watching this one! ~Joyce in Carolina

πŸ€ Nothing is Impossible-wonderful, uplifting story with such a great message. I thought the acting was well done and I appreciated that it wasn't as predictable as some--I won't give away the story but just really thankful for movies like this one that carry such a solid message. One of those times again when I am so thankful for you Net and this site. I rarely watch anything other than what you and others here suggest. Blessings!~LR

πŸ€ Loved “Nothing Is Impossible”! So nice to see a movie quoting scripture and mentioning God in the times we live in. One of my favorite scenes was when the friend was talking to the pastor about how he can help Scott and the pastor told him “you can’t force him” Our job is not to force/convince someone to follow Christ, but to believe, pray, love them, be that light and example to them, and God will do the rest. It’s so hard to do that when it’s a friend or family member we are close to but God gives us all free will. I like that it touched on these real issues believers face.~Paula

Finding Faith

Premieres: August 24, 2024

Starring: Ashley Bratcher, Jonathan Stoddard, and John Schneider

Storyline: Victoria, a Christian advice columnist writing under the name Faith, begins to lose her faith after a series of life events. On her journey back to God, she finds her way back to love as well.

Movie Review:

🌟 Finding Faith – (streamed on Great American Pure Flix)

This is an impactful story with a heavy plot that deals with marriage difficulties and infertility for Victoria (an anonymous Christian advice columnist) and her husband, Billy, who is a musician, often traveling away from home.

Victoria uses the pseudonym Faith, when giving advice to others, but she’s struggling to deal with her own life issues and finding her faith.

Actor John Schneider portrays Victoria’s father; he’s trying to cope after losing his wife of many years, while Victoria grapples with the pain of losing her mother and a painful secret from the past.

It is revealed that one character had an affair many years ago, and how grace and forgiveness have healed this person’s heart.

Throughout the film, we see the wounds and scars of these characters – and gradually we see their healing after surrendering and turning to God.

Due to the subject content, this is a movie best-suited for a mature audience. ~Net

🌟 Loved the rawness and hopefulness of Finding Faith! -Maria

🌟 We watched Finding Faith without the kids. You were right, Net, the plot is heavy, but it was nice to see something authentic. Christie

🌟 Finding Faith was reality at its finest. I found this movie spiritually uplifting and encouraging. ~kitkat

Divine Influencer

Premieres: August 31, 2024

Starring: Featuring: Lara Silva, Jason Burkey, Jesse Metcalfe, Micah Lynn Hanson, Rebecca Koon

Storyline: When an entitled influencer loses everything, she must humbly trust God to understand what the meaning of true influence is. Desperate, she takes a job at a homeless shelter only so she has a place to lay her head and quickly realizes the joy and purpose that comes from serving others.

Movie Review:

🌟 Divine Influencer – (streamed through Great American Pure Flix)

At first, the main girl, Olivia ‘Liv’ Golden (portrayed by Actress, Lara Silva), is rather conceited and self-centered as a social media influencer, but when she loses her apartment and ends up working and living at the local homeless shelter – we begin to see the incredible influence this has on her life as she opens up to caring for others and discovers a renewed sense of faith.

Overall, the entire cast is spectacular and the production quality is excellent. It was also nice to see Jesse Metcalfe have a role in this, as well, in the supporting cast.

This inspirational, family-friendly movie is heartfelt, humorous, and uplifting! I would love to see this movie also air on Great American Family! (Update: I'm so delighted my previous wish is coming true!) ~Net

🌟 Loved Divine Influencer! -Maria

🌟 We watched Divine Influencer yesterday, Net, and loved it!

The lady who works with Liv at the shelter is so sweet and all of the supporting cast is great. I was surprised, though, that Jesse Metcalfe’s role was so short. Wonder why? It would’ve been nice if he could’ve been in it more.

Anyhoo, I love seeing movies like this on GAF. Christie

🌟 Divine Influencer was really cute! It had a great message and the acting was superb. I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. Also, I loved that the cast was really stylish and modest. I have teen girls and it's nice to have some shows that showcase that being modest doesn't have to mean being boring! ~Sara

🌟 My husband and I watched "Divine Influencer", last night and like the rest of the movies that aired over the last few weeks on GAF, it was very good. I thought it started out a bit slow but we were hooked about ten minutes in and we really enjoyed the remainder of the movie. It was sweet and made me cry and smile. Oh, the ending made my heart sing! It was so uplifting. God is good. ~Joan

September Movie Premiere:

Engagement Plan

Premieres: September 7, 2024

Starring: Jack Schumacher, Ted McGinley, Mia Pollini, Eva La Rue, Emily Topper, Eric Lutz, Judd Nelson and Faith Ford

Storyline: In The Engagement Plan, Wade (Schumacher) has a plan for everything! Wade’s plan to propose to his girlfriend, Kayla (Pollini) may be the crowning achievement of plans. With a 3-carat diamond ring in tow and reservations booked at the Waldorf for his parents, Dash and Margot, (LaRue, Nelson) and Kayla’s parents, Ed and Mama Marilyn (McGinley, Ford), Wade marvels at the absolute perfection of his engagement plan. Until his plan hits a dead end on a dirt road, a country road. Kayla changes the plan to have Wade meet at her family’s farm to help her mom and dad, whose cow is expecting a calf any day. Dressed in business best, Wade – a fish out of water – has an unexpected – and definitely an unplanned encounter with a family who is not convinced he is right for Kayla. Then Wade meets her ex-boyfriend who tries to prove it.

Movie Reviews:

🌟 The Engagement Plan was as great as I anticipated. I hope we see the guy that played Wade in more GAF movies. ~Anonymous

🌟 Loved The Engagement Plan! –Maria

🌟 Before I leave for church, I wanted to let you know we ended up watching The Engagement Plan and enjoyed hearing all of the scripture references. Amazing job, Great American Family! The world needs more movies like this. -Trish

🌟 It was great seeing Faith and Ted together again. GAF should pair them again in a Christmas movie or something. ~Anonymous

🌟 The Engagement Plan had it all.The cast was great and it was genius casting Faith Ford and Ted McGinley in another movie together as husband and wife. The Pure Flix movies have all been so good and have all been the best movies airing on Saturday night, ~Anonymous

🌟 "The Engagement Plan" was another winner! It was funny, heartfelt and an all around lovely movie. I got a kick out of seeing Eva, Judd, Faith and Ted altogether. I absolutely adored the leading man. He reminded me so much of a young Timothy Hutton. And, yes, I am showing my age by saying that. :-) But, seriously the male lead was the best thing about the movie. He was charming and I would love to see him again on GAF. ~Joan

🌟 The Engagement Plan – This heartwarming film is family-friendly and filled with faith!

Wade, a financial analyst, thinks he has his whole life figured out according to his plan, but when he visits his girlfriend Kayla’s family at their farm, he steps out of his comfortable city shoes, and begins to learn in a deeper way the wisdom in the words from Proverbs 16:9, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.”

While Kayla’s parents aren’t sure if Wade is the right man for their daughter to marry, Wade is determined to prove them wrong.

The setting of this film on a family farm near harvest time is such a beautiful backdrop for this story. It was wonderful to see the way Kayla’s family trusted in and leaned on The Lord, in the big and simple things.

Some of the comedy is a bit silly and, perhaps, outlandish at times, but it made me laugh, so I hope it does the same for you. The faith elements to the story far outweigh any of the silly antics.

The entire cast is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing veteran actors: Eva LaRue, Judd Nelson, Faith Ford, and Ted McGinley portray Wade and Kayla’s parents. Since Faith and Ted have worked together before, on the sitcom “Hope & Faith” and the movies: “Karen Kingsbury’s The Bridge,” Part One and Two, it was plain to see their natural ease with portraying husband and wife. I was also touched by the biblical wisdom they imparted to both Kayla and Wade.

The lead actor, Jack Schumacher, who portrayed Wade, was, in my opinion, the star of the movie. Whether he was humorous or serious, his performances were excellent throughout. My favorite scene of Jack’s was a quiet moment of reflection and rejection where he talks to God as he's looking around the farm and quotes from the 23rd Psalm, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want… He maketh me to lie down in green pastures… He restores my soul.” Wade freely admits at a low moment in his life he needs his soul restored.

“The Engagement Plan” is a lighthearted, uplifting, and inspiring movie ideal for all ages. I pray it encourages many to grow and flourish in their faith. ~Net

    1. Jane, My family and I love our subscription to Great American Pure Flix. Whenever there's a lull in new movies on TV, it's nice to have this positive, faith-based alternative. You may have seen this, but I heard they are currently offering it for 99 cents for two months. I'm not sure how much it is after that, though. I purchased mine for a whole year when they had another special offer at that time. Anyway, we love it, and I just had to share.

Have a wonderful, blessed weekend! Net

  6. I have a really sad update on Baby Gus. After over 6 months in the hospital he has taken a turn for the worse and his parents have to say goodbye to him now. I can’t imagine the pain they are feeling. Please pray for comfort and strength for their family. My heart goes out to them. 5. Abigail, My heart has been so broken for this family since I heard little Gus had passed and his daddy's message about how much he missed touching and smelling him made me cry all over again.

I was reading through many of the heartfelt responses the family received on social media and it was beautiful to see how many people were touched by this little baby boy, this precious little soul who now waits with Jesus in heaven to be reunited one day with his family and all who lifted him up in prayer.

My prayers continue to go out to his dear family and all who loved him.

  8. I was sad to see Ainsley Mcgregor was only going to be on Pureflix. I thought we would get to see that on GAF? We do have internet now but I already have a few streaming on top of my directv and didn't want to add another. But do want to watch Ainsley Mcgregor. Not to mention I have tons of stuff on my dvr and didn't watch anything cause I was glued to RNC last week and the Olympics start this Friday and I will literally watch nothing but the olympics and then that leads into football. Maybe it will be on GAF soon?

Has anyone watched Ainsley Mcgregor yet?

    3. Sabrina, I, also, was glued to the RNC - one of the best conventions I've ever watched. And I was just having a small panic realizing that the Olympics start this week. Plus, it's rodeo season and I'm addicted to watching rodeos on the Cowboy Channel. Between all the normal summer playtime and all these things to watch on tv, I'm never going to get anything constructive accomplished this summer!!🀣 And then, like you said, college football starts and shortly after it's time to get ready for Thanksgiving! Phew, I'm exhausted! ~~Jane
