❤️ Are You Ready for NEW Rom-Com Movies? ❤️ -->

Happy first weekend of January, everyone!

It's time to start all-new romantic comedy premieres in the New Year!

See details below on the Hallmark Channel's first premiere for 2024, plus notable rom-coms, heartwarming dramas, and mystery movie classics airing this weekend...

*************************

Saturday, January 6, 2024:

Storyline: Whitney (Ashley Newbrough) is a professional golfer who is struggling to make the cut to qualify for her next tournament in Europe. Concerned that she might not be able to continue competing on a professional level, she returns to Budapest, and the golf course her family owns there, to reevaluate her career. She finds that her father, who has grown reclusive since losing his wife two years ago, has handed over day-to-day operations of the club to a laid-back, new golf pro, Daniel (Marcus Rosner). Daniel’s casual style is at odds with Whitney’s, and it throws her off her game, literally. As the pair get to know each other, their perspective changes, and a romance develops. But, when Whitney’s former trainer returns and pushes Daniel out, it might just cost Whitney her best shot at love.

Premieres Saturday, January 6, 2024
at 8pm/7c. on the Hallmark Channel

Since the Christmas movies that aired 24/7 on our TVs during the holiday season are gone, past rom-coms and mystery movies are now airing throughout the day, as I'm sure you've noticed. If you need a refresher on reviews for these movies, then be sure to visit the TV Movie List and click on any movie title there for details.

Or, if you are still watching Christmas movies, like me, and you'd like to check out reviews for the NEW 2023 Christmas movies, then be sure to visit the Christmas Movie Review post. You are also welcome to keep sending in Christmas movie reviews.

Please Note: I haven't pre-screened the new Hallmark movie premiering this weekend. If you'd like to post a review on whether this film is family-friendly, please share in the comments below. Thank you so much to everyone who shares with us.

Blessings to You All!

  1. I'm in the mood for mysteries and to continue my seasons 1-10 WCTH dvds. On S3 now. But now, I'm hungry for POPCORN!! With lots of butter. Does anyone know of a hack to copy movie theater butter??? I stopped going to the movie theater years ago because of the dirty films now. But miss the popcorn....πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    1. Abigail, I haven't had *buttered* theater popcorn for awhile, but we used to fix ours the old fashioned way; we just melted the butter separately in a small saucepan and poured it over the popcorn in our big bowl. It was always warm and delicious for us, even though regular butter does make it somewhat soggy.

I've never tried it, but I've heard if you use Ghee (clarified butter), then you can melt it over the popcorn and it stays crispy for days.

      Happy WCTH watching!!! Net

    2. Abigail, I don’t know of any recipes as I don’t care for popcorn, but my friend loves it and she goes to our local theatre and buys the popcorn, then she walks outside and just leaves so she never watches a movie. She said she has done it forever and that the tub will last her for a few days. This Christmas season she was watching all the hallmark movies so she went like once a week. You should try it and see if it lasts you a few days or if it goes stale.

    3. I do almost the same, put about 2 TB(or less, trying to stay healthy as possible😊) in the microwave, then mix it in a little at a time. Thanks, I'll research Ghee!

  2. Both could be good or bad.

The UP movie depends on how up front the gay character is.

  4. Does anyone who watched Xumo Channel recently understand how it works? - I'm puzzled by it.

There doesn't seem to be anywhere to search to see if a certain movie is available.

They seem to have a list of genres each of which contain a number of movies you can watch.

The Holiday Hub at Christmas was fine - all the new X'mas movies were listed and you could stream them as required.

However the other categories were strange.

I would look at the Recently Added and Romance ones.

I have discovered over 25 (yes, really) Reel One movies which haven't been aired elsewhere in the US.

However unless you watch them as soon you see them listed when you return they can have been de-listed.

They can be there for a few days or even only for a few hours and then disappear and might not appear for several weeks if at all.

I can't understand the system - does anyone here?

    Thanks - Florence

    1. Florence, Agree! XumoPlay is not really user-friendly. The Holiday Hub helped with finding Christmas movies but it quickly disappeared and now you just have to search and search and search through all the trashy stuff. Two of the Christmas movies I was planning to watch (Fabric of Christmas and Coupled Up for Christmas), that had been on Xumo, completely vanished but I was able to find them newly added to the Roku channel (which is only marginally better but at least with Roku you can stop watching a movie and come back at a later time and resume watching at the same spot -- not possible on Xumo). I truly don't understand all this streaming stuff. I know I'm a bit of a relic, but I love my cable tv, where everything works like it should!
While I was searching for all the missing Christmas movies on Xumo (just three days ago) I did come across two Reel One movies that looked to be newly added since Christmas (?) and that you might be interested in watching before they quickly disappear. "A Royal Recipe for Love" and "Mr. Pawsitively Perfect".
Best of luck with all this! ~~Jane

    2. It's insane how XUMO doesn't have a search function, Florence! I, too, have experienced the same frustration and puzzlement. It seems to me their categories are mainly just AI-controlled randomness. I resorted to writing down the titles, and then typing in a Google search like: "my favorite christmas tree play.xumo.com" in order to access the XUMO page for the movie I want. It does appear that some ROE titles are truly no longer available on XUMO, though, like "Meet Me in New York" which moved to Amazon's Freevee.

In case helpful, here is the list I complied of Reel One non-Christmas titles that showed up on XUMO (hopefully most are still available!):

    4. Florence, Jane, and Alicia, I absolutely agree with you all... on how crazy it is that XUMO Play doesn't have a search feature. It does make it much harder to find the title you're seeking.

I saw a movie one day on there that looked interesting, and it took me over 10 minutes to find it the next day.

Then, I realized... all I had to do was pull up the main Roku screen and search the title through them. Their search brought up the title right away on Xumo Play, plus it gave me all the sources where I could watch this particular movie. So, that's how I search Xumo now, if I know a movie title there I want to see.

Alicia, thank you for sharing this incredible list of Reel One Movies on Xumo Play. I saved your list so I can refer back to it when searching for these titles.

      Blessings to you all! Net

    5. Net, am I understanding you right?

On the main Roku screen in the top right hand corner there is a search facilty.

I've just looked for 17 titles Alicia has mentioned and there were no matches found for any of them.

It's odd that none of them would be showing anywhere?

Am I looking in the wrong place.

      Thanks

    9. Alicia - you are a STAR.

Using your tip of doing a Google search Movie Name play Xumo.com I have gotten access to some of the movies I had wanted to see.

Some of them from 2022 are no longer available and I'm gutted because one of these is The Wedding Rule which has long been on my list to see - if only I had discovered Xumo sooner.

They seem to have certain spaces reserved for Reel One movies.

It turns out Mr Pawsitively Perfect has just been removed and been replaced by a new ROE title For The Love Of Lily.

Meet Me In New York is still available to see on Xumo if anyone wishes.

    12. Florence,

Hey there! I hope I can help you out here. I just searched around 5 movie titles, and they all worked for me.

Are you, by chance, searching on the Roku CHANNEL website? That search engine will probably only find movies that are available through their channel and not Xumo Play.

However, if you go to the main Roku website at roku.com/whats-on/search, you should be able to find most of these titles there and where to watch.

These movies can also be searched through the Roku App, or I typically search through my Roku streaming player on my TV screen.

I hope this helps you find many of these movies.

    14. Anonymous, Thank you for sharing that "The Date Whisperer" is not family friendly; I noticed this movie is also featured on the Dove Channel's streaming service, so I assumed it would be wholesome. Wow! I am stunned they are playing this movie on their channel. Truly Shocked.

In the first 10 minutes or so we learn the lead girl's father has left her mother after MANY years of marriage. The best man (the lead girl's love interest) gave the girl's father the advice to follow his heart - and he introduced him to his UNCLE Frankie. From watching the trailer, I learned the two men get married by the end of the movie. Thank goodness I only watched the promo.

I am so disappointed in the Dove Channel. I thought I could trust them somewhat, but now that is obviously not true.

Thank you again, Anonymous, for the heads up! I so appreciate it!!!!

      Blessings to you, Net

I appreciate you taking the time to solve this for me - thank you very much.

Thanks to yourself and Alicia's tips I will now be keeping a close eye on Xumo and Roku - sadly I seem to have now missed a few movies I particularly waned to see, if only I had found Xumo much earlier.

One downside for me though is that even snowed under with Christmas 2023 movies still to watch I have had to temporarily abandon them to watch the Reel One movies on Xumo before they are removed.

A few seem to have gone in the past couple of weeks.

    16. Hi NET,

Is the Dove channel connected to Dove.org by any chance? If yes, then I'm not surprised.

I used to visit the reviews portion of the website to find out if movies were family friendly and they've 'approved' of movies that are not family friendly.

It looks as if you can watch the movie but when you activate the play button it is unavailable as also happens with May The Best Wedding Win (accessed through Match For The Prince).

  6. It makes me sad to see that UpTv is doing more movies that are not family or Faith friendly. Their one Christmas movie had a gay man in it and then another one the ending (rest of the movie was great) had the guy asking the girl to move in!

  7. I wonder how long it will take Great American Family to change their programing. They said they had the best season ever and that is true. They were up in ratings higher than they ever have been. Royal Christmas Holiday had the highest ratings of any of the Christmas movies. But looking now their ratings are dropping and are dropping a lot. The comments are all saying the same thing none of the viewers want Wagon Train or The. Virgianian. So my question is how many viewers are they willing to lose before they announce programming changes.

The time between Christmas/New Years is like a blur and now that the excitement is all worn off of the holidays we are all just trying to get back into a routine in our household. I was sad for my husband to take down all the Christmas decor (on New Year’s Eve) but we put up all of our Valentine’s Day decor so it lifted my mood a little….I hope GAF and Up Tv can add some new movies this winter season.

I have never been a fan of golf and the storyline with the dad selling the business didn’t really grab my attention, it was one of those “play while you are cooking/cleaning” kind of movies, which is fine as those are needed as well Lol
The best part was the beautiful scenery of the location.
