With a new movie from Reel One Entertainment
and two movies from Incendo Productions,
see what UPtv is planning in their schedule for June...
The Wedding Wish
Original UPtv Air Date: June 4, 2023
Starring: Kabby Borders and Alex Trumble
Storyline: A diehard romantic sets a date for her wedding despite still being single. As she goes on a quest to find a fiancΓ©, she’s unaware true love might be right under her nose.
Movie Review:
π❤️ The Wedding Wish
Is this movie family-friendly? - I'm not sure. Jenny's best friend is male and his manner and voice is suggestive of gay men we see in other movies but there's nothing definite and he has no dubious interaction with other male characters so I think it's a case of make your own mind up.
*SPOILERS FROM HERE ON"
I have always said that with Rom.Coms you do often have to suspend belief but the main thrust of the plot is just plain daft. Having had a fortune-teller predict she would fall in love and then marry on her 35th birthday Jenny decides to organise the complete wedding -venue, reception, flowers etc all without a fiance and she's not even currently dating. (There's only three months to go)
It's just weird.
Enter Blake (whom you rarely see without an annoying smile on his face) an author who is having mental block and needs Jenny's help for his next book (that's her job).
After an inauspicious start they come to an arrangement to help each other - Jenny with Blake's book and he to pose as her fake fiance in setting up the mechanics of the wedding.
Meanwhike Jenny goes to speed dating and after an initial mix-up teams up with Blake whom she is attracted to and decides he will be THE husband but without telling him.
Just before the wedding Blake asks Jenny to go to Paris with him (no mention of co-habiting so again make your own mind up).
She then winges that they were to get married in a couple of days - big news to Blake who tells her to wise up and immediately breaks things off.
Can you blame the guy for running as quick as he can in the opposite direction especially when they've only known each other for such a very short while?
There is, of course, the obligatory face-off between Jenny and Tyler who at this stage insinuates that he has had deep feelings for her but there is a nice unexpected twist and maybe not the ending you might think.
There is a certain amount of chemistry between Jenny and Tyler although not in spades but she only suddenly decides she has had feelings for him all along after he also has apparently had enough of her.
I don't really buy it.
I personally find the movie superficial and much as I have great admiration for Reel One movies which are generally family-friendly and of a pleasing standard this for me is not one of their better offerings.
Florence's rating - 4
π❤️ The Wedding Wish was a bit wacky, but good enough for a 1 time watch. -Maria

Written in the Stars
Original UPtv Air Date: June 11, 2023
Note #1: This movie previously premiered on the BYU-TV network. This will be the first time this film from Incendo Productions will air on the UPtv channel.
Note #2: Much of the movie, based on the storyline we are provided (see below), appears to revolve around the study of horoscopes and astrology. Due to that content, I will not be promoting this film, but I wanted to be sure you all were aware.
Storyline: When Kelsey's magazine approves her pitch about a skeptic's take on love and horoscopes, she is teamed up with Astrology guru, Carter. Clearly from opposite worlds, they put their competing perspectives aside to work the story around a local meteor shower festival. Through both fact and fate, they soon unearth that love really can be written in the stars.

The Secret Sauce
Original UPtv Air Date: June 18, 2023
Note: This movie previously premiered on the BYU-TV network. This will be the first time this film from Incendo Productions will air on the UPtv channel.
Storyline: Marketing executive Laura is sent to oversee a small-town cook-off and entice Jim, the local barbecue restaurant owner, to let her license his family's secret BBQ sauce. While Laura struggles with small-town life, and while Jim resists the idea of joining forces with a large business, the two soon discover how well their differences work together. With a dash of trust and a splash of kindness, Jim and Laura’s friendship slowly marinates into something much sweeter.
Movie Reviews:
π²π The Secret Sauce is family-friendly, delightful, and light-hearted. The small-town community feel is heartwarming. Overall, the storyline is fairly straightforward and easy-going, with no major plot twists or surprises. I enjoyed both leads, Tori Anderson and Corey Sevier, and their chemistry was just as sweet as the sauce! Marketing executive Laura Glickman (Tori Anderson) comes from the big city of Chicago to the mid-west to persuade the laid-back, set-in-his-ways, Jim Covell (Corey Sevier) into selling the recipe for his secret sauce. Course, their relationship may become more than mere business. I enjoyed this charming movie, and I hope you will, too! Fair warning: It might induce you to fire up the BBQ! ~Net
π²π I watched and recorded The Secret Sauce on 12/29/2021 and loved it! ~Namegirl
π²π We watched 'The Secret Sauce' again yesterday. Still cute as ever. Quaint little town and lovely chemistry between the leads. :-) ~Joan
π²π The Secret Sauce was very cozy and sweet! -Maria

Hopefully, you'll enjoy these movies on UPtv.
Please know - I haven't screened the new movie, The Wedding Wish, listed above. If you'd like to post a review for any of the movies, please share in the comments below.
Happy movie-watching, everyone!

"You won't be promoting the film written in the stars because of the horoscopes and astrology" Now you have a problem with horoscopes and astrology? That has nothing to do with going against God. Astrology is stare & constellations! It's space! Do you even hear yourself??
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, I based my decision on not watching this film due to my own personal spiritual beliefs. Horoscopes and astrology do go against God's Word. In fact, believing in the power to predict the future goes directly against Biblical wisdom and scripture. It is demonic and an abomination to God.
DeleteI shared more fully on my decision when BYU first premiered this movie in this post - here:
https://itsawonderfulmovie.blogspot.com/2022/04/written-in-stars-on-byu.html
Settle down, Anonymous. No need to be rude here!
DeleteFirst, it seems you are confusing astrology and horoscopes with astronomy. Astronomy is the study of the things you mentions - stars, constellations, space...simply, the universe. And there is nothing wrong with the study of astronomy.
Astrology and horoscopes...now, that's another story. Astrology takes astronomy a step further and talks about how these celestial bodies influence human behavior. And horoscopes is, as many know, the forecast of a person's future based on the position of stars and planets. Is this "going against God"? Absolutely! Belief in God means believing that only God can influence one's destiny, not the stars, the planets, or anything else! Don't believe me? Go ahead and google "astrology and bible" and see the list of bible references that support this.
Second, you say to Net "Now you have a problem with..." which implies you have previously addressed other issues with her. If you have, why do I feel that the tone in those messages was similar to the tone of this one? Sorry, but you come across as one of those whiney, leftist wokes who love making rude comments to others who don't share your beliefs, rather than being respectful and engaging in intelligent conversations. Can you prove me wrong?
Anonymous, if you are so sure of your beliefs, don’t hide behind a mask.

Florence, Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful, detailed review! I was wondering about this movie when I watched the trailer, and you confirmed exactly what I thought.
DeleteBy the way, I know you meant to say the title is "The Wedding Wish." All of these titles are so similar, that is so easy to do.
I'm very appreciative of all of the extra information you shared on this movie - plus your *Spoiler Alert* warning. Thank you for being so thoughtful and including that.
I just posted your review above. Again, thank you and have a fabulous weekend! :)

I wonder what Up's doing on 25 June? - Florence
ReplyDeleteFlorence, Good question. Could just be a sitcom marathon that day??? Still awaiting the schedule.
DeleteLooks like there will be a marathon of the sitcom, Reba, on UPtv - Sunday, June 25th. I'm not seeing a new movie in the schedule that night, so far.
DeleteUPtv schedule change... there's a marathon of Last Man Standing on Sunday, June 25th. No new movie or classic movie marathon that day.
DeleteUnless the schedule changes again, so far the Reba marathon has been moved to Sunday, July 2.
Does this mean there are no new Sunday Rom.Com premieres in July? - Florence
DeleteFlorence, I don't have any information on the rest UP's schedule after July 4th, yet. I'm sure it's hard to get ratings around the 4th of July holiday - when people are mostly outside and not watching TV as much.
DeleteFor now, I'm just waiting to see what they have planned. Even if they don't play something new, I think it would be nice if they played some of their older movies. Just putting in that request - in case someone from UP's programming dept. is listening!!! :)
Thanks, Net.
DeleteI just have a bad feeling there aren't going to be any new movies during July - I think they would have announced them by now - Florence
On Sunday, July 9th, UPtv currently has scheduled a "Last Man Standing" marathon.
DeleteUPtv is starting off the first Sunday in August with Heartland's Season 16. The first two episodes will air 7pm-9pm EST, which is, of course, their usual movie premiere time-slot.
DeleteNot sure, yet, what this will mean for the rest of the Sundays in August.
~Net
An update to my previous comment...
DeleteUPtv sent out a press release today, so it's official, season 16 of Heartland will begin Sunday, August 6th on UPtv with back-to-back episodes on the premiere night. It looks like the show will continue to air on Sunday nights as they will also have a Sweepstakes that coincides and will run until Sunday, September 24, 2023.
~Net
Bah - I've had it with UPtv.
DeleteThey could at least have had the courtesy to inform viewers that they were discontinuing the Sunday evening Rom.Com Premier (even if it is only temporary).
There haven't been any since June 18th.
Good manners cost nothing and that's no way to treat your viewers - Florence
Thanks for the info.Net.
ReplyDeleteMaybe UP just decided that since GAF didn't begin airing new movies as expected they didn't need to bother either! - Florence
Last year UPtv aired 4 new Rom.Coms during July.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping they just haven't their line up for this year finalised but it's not looking good for this year - Florence
Net, can you help?
ReplyDeleteI've come up against a brick wall with regard to Reel One Entertainment movies.
There's something definitely amiss - dozens of movies on their site which are not being shown on US TV and many of the plots look great.
This year UP has shown a total of 5 (yes Five) ROE titles one of which they had been holding for a long while.
But it's not just UP - I can't find them being aired on any of the channels.
To be honest I'm pretty disgusted with UP at the minute - they have been my favourite channel in the past couple of years with many ROE titles aired and while you expect to see different programming at Christmas and Easter they are now regularly screening marathons of sitcoms on Sundays and not showing the Rom.Com premiere which they continue to advertise.
I wrote to UP earlier this year but didn't get any response.
Reel One seem to deal only with corporate customers - I did try to contact them through links on their website but wasn't surprised not to receive any reply.
I've hit a brick wall.
Myabe you know of any sites where people discuss movies? - I could post there and maybe get an answer - surely someone must know what's going on?
Any ideas?
Thanks - Florence
Florence, I've seen many titles at Reel One Entertainment that look interesting to me, as well, and hope one day to see them. Hopefully, sooner than later.
DeleteI imagine many of the holiday titles will be divided up among the networks, as they have been in years past. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case lately with their non-holiday titles.
I will look into this further and give this some thought. If you have Facebook, UPtv's page there is probably the best place to communicate with them and other followers of their channel.
I've tried another forum which talked some about UPtv, but unfortunately, there wasn't enough conversation there to make it worth visiting regular.
I'll try to see what I can find out. We know UPtv has this somewhat new deal with True Brand Entertainment, so we know they haven't given up on movies altogether, but will they be working with ROE any more is, of course, the real question.
Not sure I'll be able to get any answers this week or next, as it seems everyone is taking off for vacation around July 4th early, but as soon as I learn something I'll let you know.
Blessings, Net
I hope you two can find some answers, as I, too, am missing Reel One movies. I agree, Florence, that they were the best thing UP had going! I would occasionally buy a month of UP Faith & Family streaming just to enjoy catching up on those particular movies. I recently watched a few of the selection of ROE movies Crackle got, but, of course, that's a problem for those who can't stream.
Delete~Alicia
Alicia would it be at all possible for you to list some of the ROE titles which you saw on Crackle?
DeleteI wonder if they offer them now and again - I looked at the movies available and couldn't see any.
Thanks - Florence
Thanks
Oh my goodness, Florence, I'm so sorry I never saw your comment! You may have already found them by now, but I'd be glad to list the ROE movies I found on Crackle (I got lucky browsing the "Crackle Originals" section):
Delete"Love at the Ranch"
"Love in Full Swing"
"The Wedding Arrangement"
"A Slice of Chicago Romance"
"Snapshot of Forever"
"Love Afloat"
"Priceless Love"
"For the Love of Chocolate"
and 5 more to come are listed in this article: https://deadline.com/2022/02/chicken-soup-for-the-soul-streaming-kin-reel-one-originals-1234933521/
~Alicia
Alicia, Thank you for sharing this info! I downloaded the Chicken Soup for the Soul app to my Roku last month and watched 2 movies - "Snapshot of Forever" and "For the Love of Chocolate."
Delete"Snapshot of Forever" is a cozy rom-com, lighthearted, and family-friendly. There's a sweet chemistry between the leads.
"For the Love of Chocolate" stars Rhiannon Fish and Jesse Hutch and while I really like both, I just didn't feel a romantic connection between the two. The movie is mostly family-friendly, except her sister is considering moving away and moving in with her boyfriend.
I also want to caution that most of the commercials are fine, but some are not. And you can't fast-forward. That's why it's free to watch.
I've had my eye on watching "Love at the Ranch" with Jon Cor and Laura Mitchell, but I'm going to see if there are any reviews online first. Anyone here seen that one??
Blessings, Net
I saw Love at the Ranch a few months ago, it's a clean movie. -Maria
DeleteMaria, That's wonderful to know - thank you! :)
DeleteBlessings, Net
I'm not into social media, Net but following your suggestion temporarily joined Facebook and Twitter to ask about the Sunday night Romance premier and Reel One.
ReplyDeleteThe content on both platforms is exactly the same.
My Comment never received a response - Florence
Florence, Sorry to hear no one responded. I also reached out to someone before the 4th, but haven't heard back. I'm still looking into this, though.
DeleteWe'll figure this out eventually.
Blessings, Net
Alicia - many thanks for your response, I really appreciate it.
DeleteThe movies listed are slightly older ROE productions which have been aired somewhere before.
They are of varying quality but worth at least one watch.
The Wedding Arrangement and Snapshot Of Forever are probably my favourites of those listed.
There is one called A Bouquet Of Love which I can't find anywhere - maybe they have chaged the title - it doesn't even show in a search of ROE.
The mystery of what has happened to the bulk of new ROE movies in the past year remains unsolved!
Florence
Net - I was a fan of Jon Cor and really enjoyed his two Rom.Coms for Hallmark - Love On Safari with Lacey and Picture A Perfect Christmas with Merritt Patterson, in fact it was my favourite Christmas movie of 2019.
DeleteMaybe because of the Covid situation he doesn't seem to be making very many movies now and the few that he has are for what I would call "B" Movie Production Companies.
It's a couple of years since I saw Love At The Ranch and from what I remember I will hesitantly say it was family-friendly.
I definitely don't think it was as good as the two Hallmark movies but my recollections are that it was a typical Rom.Com with a familiar plot and a bit slow-moving but it was a good while ago.
Certainly okay for a one-time watch - Florence
Florence, I absolutely adore "Picture A Perfect Christmas," too! It's just the sweetest little movie with the meet-cute mix-up, the adorable little boy, and cute doggie! It's one of my favorites, as well.
DeleteThank you also for sharing about "Love At the Ranch." I understand after it's been awhile since seeing a movie, it's harder to remember every little detail. I'll probably give it a try as soon as I finish the Christmas in July new movies.
Blessings, Net
I think I'm coming to the end of the line with UPtv.
ReplyDeleteLooks like there are no new movies on Sunday nights in August - Florence
Personally, I don't mind. I'm so busy these days, having less new movies each weekend to watch actually helps me a bit with preventing burnout. -Maria
