🎄♫ Tune in Thursday & Friday 🌟 4 NEW Christmas Movie Premieres + "CMA Country Christmas" 🎸 SEE HERE:

Once again, there are so many new Christmas movies on TV this Thursday and Friday I decided to do a post highlighting all of them separately from the weekend premieres. I think one or two of the new Christmas movies look interesting; plus, I always enjoy seeing various performers each year in the CMA Country Christmas program. This year I'm most looking forward to seeing Steven Curtis Chapman and Scotty McCreery.

See all the details below, and be sure to share your thoughts in the comment section.

  1. Hi Net! The Art of Christmas was moved to Saturday night. And the Saturday movie was moved to Sunday on GAF. It hasn't changed on my FrndlyTV guide yet but they just made the change yesterday.

    1. Jennifer, Bless you for alerting me to this recent change with Great American Family's schedule. I removed The Art of Christmas above and will fix it on other posts, as well.

      Wonder why this late change???

Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas to you!!! :)

    3. Also what happened to A Belgium Chocolate Christmas movie that was on the schedule for this weekend? I can’t find it on tv schedules.

    4. Gail, Great American Family removed it from their lineup because it did not meet their standards.

Recently, Jennifer shared this news with us: For those who could be wondering about A Belgian Chocolate Christmas, I read that it will be airing on plex on December 11th

Now, I don't know what the content is, but it's there if you want to look into it further.

  2. A Christmas Open House. On HGTV. Not family friendly. When I get the chance, I’ve enjoyed watching Home Town with Ben & Erin Napier on HGTV over the years. I thought their new Christmas movie would probably be sweet with a nice, decorative, attention to detail. But I couldn’t make it past the first five minutes. The movie starts at a beautiful outdoor wedding where we find out the lead actress has temporarily acted as a wedding planner but will soon be going back to her real gig as a home stager. We meet her friend, James, who says “I’d get married again, if I knew my reception would look this good.” And then he calls “Hey, sweetie” to his husband who comes over and we see just how in love they are, blah blah blah… social credit scores for HGTV… delete for me!!

  5. Scentsational Christmas. Warm & cozy, good for a one-time watch, not a keeper. Others will like this movie more than I did. The storyline about candle making and perfume making is unique, so kudos for that. There was also a nice mystery revolving around a historic tale of lovers lost in a snowstorm and candles bringing them together. The movie has a very cozy atmosphere with all the MANY candles and snow and old dark historic buildings and pubs of New England. But the whole thing was a bit ????? Bizarre, maybe? I don’t know, something was missing or just kind of “off”? It’s almost like they were trying to make a BBC period drama or romantic mystery but, to me, they fell short and it all ended up being a bit odd. Even the candles ended up being excessive and over-the-top. I liked the lead actor (I don’t know that I’ve ever seen him before), and Nazneen is beyond beautiful as a leading lady and I’ve liked her in other movies but I just wasn’t a fan of her in this one, her character could be uncaring and cold and her whispery/quivery/sensual voice, that I usually find nice and unique, got on my nerves after a while. Even the beautiful candles began to be overkill. And the story Nazneen tells about candles was told in a weird, sort of sensual way as she was caressing a candle and it kind of made me want to gag -> supposedly “candles are a reflection of ourselves… the wax is our body… the wick is our mind… and together they give home to the flame, which is the spark of life… and the heart is the candle’s love” -> Huh?? What kind of mumbo-jumbo drivel is that?!? Anyway, the movie felt cozy but it was a bit melodramatic and implausible. Including the fact that a professional chemist/perfumer who grew up making famous Christmas candles with her mother and grandmother had no idea what the secret ingredient/scent was for those candles. She couldn’t figure it out and it was a HUGE revelation when it finally came to her. It was bayberry. I could have told her that the minute I saw the pale green taper in her hand. Pretty much anyone who likes candles can give you a list of about five scents that are evocative of Christmas and bayberry is on the top of that list. Especially since this was a scent used centuries ago in colonial times and you can find them in any historic town or shop all over New England where this movie takes place. Not to mention, I believe the name of their centuries-old home was Bayberry Hill or something like that because bayberry grows rampantly there. Sheesh! I’m rolling my eyeballs. The movie is family friendly but I don’t think younger kids would be interested. It feels a bit sensual at one point but nothing too much. Also, Nazneen downs multiple strong drinks at the cozy pub owned by her friend and the next scene we see her driving her car, so that’s not good. But other than that, it’s family friendly and I think people who are less critical than me will enjoy the movie simply because it has a cozy, candlelight feeling and ultimately a sweet, albeit melodramatic, romantic ending.

  7. My mom is halfway through The Most Colorful Time of the Year, and it is annoying me so much!! Not only does this movie feel really evasive, but I heard Hallmark didn't even bother to get facts about being color blind right. Which means this annoying movie is yet another foolish pandering attempt to a crowd that is never really going to care about Hallmark! This network really needs to butt off with these useless sappy movies if they can't even get basic facts right. -Maria

  9. TIME FOR HIM TO COME HOME
Family friendly. I love this second chance love story! I don't know if the storyline is as powerful as the past "Come Home" series (i forgot some of them, ha!), but I really like this one. Tyler Hynes is always wonderful to watch. The lead actress is new to me but she is likeable. I felt the chemistry and I loved the ending scene when the truth were all finally out in the open.

THE MOST COLORFUL TIME OF THE YEAR
Family friendly. I think the storyline was promising, but honestly it was a tad on the boring side. I didn't like how the female lead was really pushy in applying for the trial glasses, and then it was all just too good to be true when the male lead just try it on and it worked. The whole movie wasn't very touching (i thought it would be), and it was just blehh to me, to be honest. Both lead actor and actress were fine, but I think just the writing of the story needs work. Christopher Russell appeared really cold and aloof almost the whole movie to me. I wasn't too convinced he actually had feelings for the female lead. The whole ex-boyfriend story addition was also just plain annoying. Not a keeper for me.

    1. I didn't feel the chemistry between Tyler and Holland. I like Tyler as much as the next, but let's broaden his range a little. Plus, that end scene when her eyes kept blinking and he looked to be spitting out hair turned me off

  10. The Most Colorful of the Year is family friendly about Ryan is an elementary school science teacher who meets Michelle is an optometrist, whose daughter Bailey is in his class. While helping out in the school gymnasium giving eye exams Michelle notices something different about Ryan – he lacks interest in color which is surprising given the holiday season.

When Michelle is finished seeing the kids, she prompts Ryan to participate in an eye exam. He is reluctant and cuts it short, leaving her to suspect he may be colorblind. To confirm her suspicion, Michelle humorously tries to trick Ryan. He is guarded and sly but ultimately gives himself away. Michelle gain access to specialty glasses for Ryan but refuses them. When Bailey learns of this, she sneaks them into her backpack and leaves them on her teacher’s desk with a handwritten note, “These glasses exist because of science, and you taught me that science should give us hope.”

As Michelle & Bailey are leaving, they see Ryan exit his class with the glasses in hand. Michelle follows him into a building where there’s a colorful nativity scene lit up beautifully. When Ryan puts on the colorblind glasses and opens his eyes for the first time, the world appears in technicolor. His reaction is significant and emotional. He can’t believe how beautiful everything is!

  11. I just wanted to take a moment to say...I don't think there has ever been a year where there has been such a diversity of opinions on so many movies! And that is a good thing! It is great that we can all feel at ease to express our opinions, even if it means disagreeing with others, and not worry about being put down. It is so nice being part of a group that shows such respect for each other! (And it wasn't always like this. Many years ago - and Net you may remember this - there was one Anonymous person who slammed you if you ever said anything negative about a movie. It's nice that this is no longer the case!)
