'A Merry Christmas Wish,' starring Jill Wagner & Cameron Mathison, will premiere Saturday, November 5, 2022 in GAC Family's new annual tradition, Great American Christmas! This all new Christmas movie is set on a family farm. See the story details below...
Storyline via GAC Family: "Janie (Jill Wagner), a rising marketing executive living in The Big Apple, returns to her hometown of Woodland Falls when her Great-Uncle Randall passes away. Janie is not prepared for the gift Randall has bestowed onto his last living relative: the family homestead, Janie’s childhood home. While not immediately sure what to do with a fully functioning farm, Janie agrees to honor Randall’s final request to plan and host Woodland Falls’ annual Winter Wonderland as Randall’s gift to his community. Randall has even arranged for his farmhand, Dylan (Cameron Mathison) to help at the event, which is being held in the farm’s sprawling barn. Aware that her Manhattan boyfriend is anxious for her to return to the city so the pair can jet off to a previously planned holiday on the beach, Janie begins to feel an unexpected emotional tug about living life in a more authentic, meaningful way."

Merry Kissmas first premiered on the ION Network in 2015.
Cast: The movie stars Brant Daugherty (Mingle All the Way), Karissa Lee Staples (Betting on the Bride), David O'Donnell (Christmas Under Wraps), and Doris Roberts (Mrs. Miracle)
Synopsis: Unwinding her relationship from a controlling choreographer, Kayla happens to fall for a handsome man, Dustin, who she shares a magical kiss with on a chance elevator encounter. But, when the choreographer begins to make nice and Dustin is the one who makes some missteps, Kayla is torn on which man she really loves.
My Take: I watched this movie when it first premiered back in 2015 on ION, and honestly, I haven't watched it since. I distinctly remember it not being a keeper for me. To be honest, some of the behavior is rather odd and unusual. I truly wanted to like it, originally, since I really like all of the main actors involved, but it just wasn't for me. An older woman (played by Doris Roberts) kisses a younger man, Dustin (Brant Daugherty), in an elevator without his approval. Later on, Kayla (Karissa Lee Staples) kisses Dustin in the same elevator, while she is somewhat involved with Carlton (David O'Donnell), who is a self-absorbed, egotistical, two-timing, rude choreographer with an awful British accent. Throughout the movie, Kayla somehow can't decide between Carlton or Dustin, which is rather annoying. While I love Doris Roberts in the Mrs. Miracle films, I didn't think this role highlighted how wonderful she is as an actress. The same can be said for Brant Daugherty, who has an excellence performance (in my opinion) in Mingle All the Way.
The Christmas Calendar first premiered on UPtv in 2017.
Cast: The movie stars Laura Bell Bundy (Season's Greetings), Brendon Zub (Cut, Color, Murder), and Johannah Newmarch (When Calls the Heart)
Synopsis: When Emily, a struggling baker in a small town, receives a handmade Christmas calendar from a secret admirer, the local residents become obsessed with finding out the identity of the sender.
My Take: I've seen this movie several times on UPtv since it first premiered back in 2017. It is family-friendly and very sweet; I'm a fan of Laura Bell Bundy's previous Christmas movies. The storyline in this movie reminds me a lot of My Christmas Love or last years premiere, Eights Gifts of Hanukkah. It's a delightful sort of mystery trying to figure out who sent Emily the Christmas calendar. Overall, this Christmas movie is lighthearted and entertaining, a delicious Christmas treat!

I appreciate the effort to get more content but wish it was older less seen movies rather than more recent ones that have been on other networks.
ReplyDeleteJoCo, I would love to see some older Christmas movies, too. Do you recall when Hallmark Movies & Mysteries did one night of classic Christmas movies during one of their first years when they had less content? I recall one of the movies was It Happened on 5th Avenue and lots of viewers enjoyed seeing the classics. I, too, would love to see Great American Family (GAC Family) do that! :)
DeleteI guess I’m old enough to
DeleteLike the ones that really go back like Shop around the Corner with Jimmy Stewart, Marlo Thomas’s remake of It’s a Wonderful Life and one I think I mentioned before that had Barbara Billingsley (from leave it to Beaver) and Jeanie Garth in 2008’s Secret Santa. Far from the cookie cutter ones of today. Was more about content rather just love stories set around Christmas.
All kinds of wonderful news!

I've never seen The Christmas Calendar, looks good!
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas Calendar is so sweet! -Maria
ReplyDeleteLooks good but need some mysteries, please
ReplyDeleteYes! I keep saying that, too! I would love to see lighthearted mysteries like "Signed, Sealed, Delivered."
DeleteGot some news: Beginning August 20: GAC Family will be renamed to Great American Family and GAC Living will be renamed to Great American Living. -Maria
ReplyDeleteMaria, Yes, this was interesting news today. I'm hoping this re-branding will help to distinguish the GAC Family station from it's previous channel, Great American Country. They've been working on this transition for awhile, but finally made it official. I think it will be a good change, but will definitely take some getting used to.
