GAC Family's *Christmas in July*:

A Match Made at Christmas

Premiere Date: July 3, 2022

Storyline: A small-town girl is paired with her brother's career-driven college roommate by her great-aunt, who always seems to match people with their soulmate, when her brother comes home for his own Christmas wedding.

Movie Reviews:

🎄"I just wanted to let you all know about a movie called “A Match Made at Christmas” streaming on Amazon Prime and Pure Flix. I am personally acquainted with the filmmakers and a lot of the people who were extras in the film, and my brother even has a mention in the credits because he was an investor for the movie! It’s rated 13+ on Amazon, probably because the “drama” in the movie makes it more geared to teenagers and adults, and there is also a bachelorette party scene at a bar (nothing too wild). The filmmakers are Christians, so there is nothing of concern as far as suggestive content and language (unless you count a single use of the word "crap"). The story is more of a drama than a comedy and has some depth and realism to it. It centers around a young woman whose brother is marrying her best friend, her relationship with said best friend, and her rocky relationship with her brother's best man. The leading woman and the woman who plays her best friend are very good. The leading man I thought was less good, but my mom and I both liked him better on a second viewing. There are some great scenes, and I enjoyed the movie a lot." ~Amy Lama

🎄"A Match made at Christmas was pretty good." –Maria

🎄"I watched Match Made at Christmas and I personally didn't really care for it. The male lead in particular was pretty mean and rude. It just left a bad taste in my mouth." ~Sarah

🎄"A Match at Christmas is family friendly. Holly’s Great Aunt named Lillian could be matchmaker for people as their soulmates except for Holly’s Brother named Spencer Alan Everton & her Best Friend; Angela. Spencer brings his college roommate named Chris for Christmas Wedding. Chris hands Holly a 🌹 when it’s dropped on the floor when Holly’s Brother; Chris arrives home. Holly wasn’t interesting in Chris just before she change her mind when she likes Chris. She pushes him to be a photographer for his magazine when he got a job so, Chris is pleasuring Holly when the pictures are worth thousand words that how explaining how he feels about Holly. Holly & Chris are finally share their first kiss." ~Anonymous

🎄"A Match Made at Christmas is rather interesting. First, the concept that this older lady in the community continually pairs individuals together and then these couples all fall in love and get married - is rather unconventional. Anyway, Holly is anticipating the moment this woman, who happens to be her Aunt, will pair her up with the man of her dreams, until that man is her brother's best friend, Chris. I wanted to cheer Holly and Chris on in discovering their love for one another, but Chris was such a cynic and rather unlikeable much of the film, I couldn't understand why Holly was even interested in him. Plus, I wasn't fond of the selfish way Holly treated her best friend the day before her wedding day. In the end, however, there is redemption and forgiveness. Overall, the movie is family friendly, and it has a happy ending for Holly and everyone. I only wish we could've seen more of the happier moments." ~Net

Christmas in Carolina

Premiere Date: July 4, 2022

Storyline: Although a successful woman claims to have given up on love altogether, she decides to give it one last chance when she meets a man who invites her to his family's home in South Carolina for the holidays.

Movie Reviews:

🎄"Christmas in Carolina is family friendly. Wesley’s family spend the holidays in South Carolina. A businesswoman named Elle Moore meets a man named Wesley Saxon invites her to find the true meaning of Christmas. Wesley’s Mom named Charlotte, his Uncle named Marlone, & his Brother named Ryan. Wesley is CEO of his company. Elle is Career-driven investment banker." ~Anonymous

🎄"Christmas in Carolina – In the beginning this movie was a little hard to get into. Some of the acting was not very good, and at times, I thought they might be reading from cue cards. The main leads, Elle and Wesley, meet on a blind date. He’s late, so she gets out her laptop and ignores him when he arrives. The next day or so, Elle learns that Wesley is rich, so she decides to give him another chance. Elle is rather rude in the beginning; some people even refer to her as Elle-benezer Scrooge. On Elle and Wesley’s second date (if you count the first), he acts like he is suddenly in love, and he invites her to come home with him for Christmas to meet his family. Wesley’s mother (played by Kellie Shanygne Williams) and uncle (played by Darius McCrary) were recognizable to me as Laura and Eddie Winslow from the 90’s family sitcom, Family Matters. It was nice to see them portraying sister and brother again. Near the end of the movie there is a scene where the entire family attends church together and the pastor speaks about Jesus, Mary and Joseph. This movie is family-friendly, but not a keeper for me." ~Net
