No thanks. it's probably be too over the top trying to promote being overweight as being healthy when it really isn't. -Maria
ReplyDeleteWhat a weird subject to be making a Rom.Com about but it will be great tosee Benjamin Hollingsworth - Florence
ReplyDeleteThis movie sounds terrible. And why do we need to change Fall Harvest to Fall in love? doesnt seem to be any fall in this movie either. I hope they have some better Fall movies.
ReplyDeleteSabrina
It’s Fall into Love, not Fall in Love!!! Fall Harvest is Mid-September until Mid-October before Countdown to Christmas
DeleteFall into Love is before Fall Harvest
This is weird. Why are they treating her like she's different just because she's not a size 2? Like, she should be grateful he likes her or something because she's not super skinny. This is supposed to help girls get over this perceived perfect body image?
ReplyDeleteI am getting sooooo over with Hallmark....is it really their responsibility to promote EVERY WOKE position that the minority of people feel is an issue?
ReplyDeleteNow they feel that they need to educate us on "self love" and "body positivity" is complete hogwash!!!! Here is my background...I have always been overweight/fat/obese whatever you want to call it. There were six kids in my family and my dad was in the Marines....money was tight to say the least. So of course meals were high carb and when the food was put on the table we had to eat everything on our plate. We didn't have lots of junk food (chips, sodas, sweets) as that cost too much....it was all about the carbs. I have fought weight loss my whole life. For goodness sakes I had a guy from high school who saw me in the grocery store - a mess as our family was moving and we were cleaning the on base house - tell me that I would be really "pretty" if I would lose weight. I didn't break down and hate myself because of his comment. Yes, I would have loved to have been born with the "skinny" genes but that was not in the cards. I literally tried every "diet" there was and had (as most do) weight loss but then gained it back.
Three years ago I found a lifestyle plan for eating and lost about 60 lbs...then I had shoulder surgery and that set me back on the wrong course. Relearning how do things after shoulder replacement and the COVID restrictions did not help me and I did gain about 30 lbs back. Now I am getting back on track, eating right and most important of all trying to get back to my exercise program (which to me is most important). It is not easy but I need to do this for me. I don't look for "self love" and "body positivity" from anyone else!!!! It is all on me. I totally believe that this is all a mental thing and no one can actually fix a person's mentality but themselves.
For those that are just fine with their body image (whatever it is) I am happy for you. For me my plan is to get on track and reach my goal that I set for myself (especially since I got rid of all my fat clothes!) because I just felt better physically and mentally.
Lastly, I watch movies to be entertained not to be educated on woke issues. For this issue, it may sound weird, but I don't know that I want to watch the movie as I don't need the movie industry to try to make me believe that I need "self love" or "body positivity" as neither of these are true, I am fine with who I am but for me I want to improve on myself and your movie will not do anything for me personally!
Janet, I appreciate you sharing your story with us. I can really hear your heart in your words. I've known family members and friends who have dealt with this through the years and the abuse from others who don't understand. High school kids can especially be so cruel. Every body type, of course, is different and unique, and no matter what we look like, I agree... eating right and exercise should be important to being healthy. I commend you for getting back to doing an exercise program after your injury.
DeleteIt pains me to see someone who is called overweight, who eats right and exercises and then, there's someone else who is skinny, but they eat fast food and never exercise at all. The world thinks that skinny person is healthy by the way they look, but they really are not.
All of this makes me think of the scripture...
“For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” ~ 1 Samuel 16:7
Thank you for sharing with us. As soon as I read this story synopsis; I wondered how it might affect others. I truly felt your heart, Janet.
God bless you!
Janet, your comment touched me deeply. One of my sisters gained some weight in her teenage years, and was shamed by people in our community. Her response was to quit eating. We watched her become so thin and there was no way to reach her. Teenagers are going through difficult times without this. She said she would rather die than be fat. Sad to say, she got her wish.
DeleteJanet, your message brought tears to my eyes. Your pain touched me but also helped me to understand. My sister was much older than me, and my little brain could not understand at the time.
Thank you so much Janet for sharing this. May God bless you!
Oh, kitkat, that is heartbreaking. It's awful how people can be so cruel. Words are truly powerful. That's why scripture tells us our tongues have the power of life and death. (Proverbs 18:21)
DeleteI'm so sorry for the incredible loss of your sister as a young girl. God bless you, honey.
Thanks Net! Appreciate your kind reply.
DeleteWill this movie be part of Hallmark Channel Fall Harvest?
ReplyDeleteChris, This movie will air under their new theme for August, Fall into Love.
DeleteIt's nice to see a plus-size actress cast as the lead character instead of the best friend or another side character.
ReplyDeleteI’m apparently one of the few people who like this idea lol. Although I don’t think this sort of story would be necessary if society hadn’t come to such a spot that we think someone is of less value because they are heavier than someone else. The entertainment industry has caused people to have this perception that a woman must be “skinny” to be normal so it’s interesting to see such a switch. I’m curious to see how they deal with this.
