Scarlett learns that her parents have sold the family home, a B&B, to her childhood flame Liam Perry and that Maddie has lost her wedding venue days before the nuptials. Scarlett suggests they host the event at the B&B and works with Liam to pull off the wedding of Maddie’s dreams, trying to put their history behind them. As her dream job in NYC becomes a firm offer, Scarlett is forced to make a decision. She has been falling back in love with Liam and with her childhood home. With the countdown to the wedding day on, will Liam Perry get to kiss the bridesmaid?

Review:

🌹 "There's something special about a first love. When Scarlett Bailey returns home for her sister’s wedding, she’s in for a few surprises. First, her parents run a B&B and they’ve recently sold it to her old boyfriend, Liam Perry. And another surprise – her sister’s original wedding venue is ruined, so Scarlet insists on helping out and encourages her sister and her parents to move the wedding outside at the B&B, which means they’ve all got a lot of work to do, including Liam, who will be taking over as the new owner very soon. In the meantime, Scarlett is making cooking videos and auditioning for a pastry chef position in New York. However, her nostalgic spirit is enjoying being home and possibly falling for Liam all over again. But, she has the usual problem – of trying to decide between the big city and small town life. Which way will she decide? Plus, she has a boyfriend in the city – who’s more about climbing the social ladder then spending quality time together. The setting at the country inn is beautiful and the chemistry between the leads is kind of low key, but still very sweet. One major movie error that baffled me and my family – when the sister actually gets married, the father who is incredibly giving and part of the entire wedding planning, building the wedding arch, etc… does NOT walk his daughter down the aisle. She walks all alone, by herself. Very strange. He is, instead, sitting on the front row with the mother. I’m not sure why they would do this, but we thought it was beyond peculiar – a huge miss. It just seemed like a standard wedding tradition that should be included. Overall, You May Kiss the Bridesmaid was a bit predictable; however, it was an enjoyable watch, lighthearted and completely family friendly." ~Net

🌹 "I watched You May Kiss the Bridesmaid. Agree with Net that it was a sweet (and predictable) movie with a rather low-key romance. One thing that I loved was the beautiful setting. And as a former florist and wedding/party planner I really appreciated all the decorations; they seemed realistic whereas a lot of Hallmark movies seem very overdone and fake to me. Cute little family friendly movie!" ~~Jane

🌹 "These BYUtv movies are a real bonus - they all seem to be family friendly and highly enjoyable. This one already had a head start with me as my very favourite plot is that of former loves reunited! There really was nothing new to this, as Scarlett trying to decide on whether to take up a new job in New York comes home for her sister's wedding to find it is in danger of being cancelled and her parents have sold their inn to her old school boyfriend. The film follows their progress as they team up to try and get the wedding re-arranged in the grounds of the B&B and I must say the scenery is lovely. It is pretty obvious from the start that Liam is carrying a torch for Scarlett but her principles means she won't "cheat" on her current boyfriend who is really more interested in advancing his career. I would agree that the romance is low key but there's just something so sweet and warm about it that I found appealing. I was certain that I recognised Kristopher Turner although my husband didn't but when I checked up it turned out he had starred in an old Hallmark movie Love By The Book - I can't remember much about it so it didn't seem to have made much impression on me! These BYUtv film actors seem to have found the secret of eternal youth. In One Of A Kind Love the hero barely looked out of his teens but when I checked up he was 29! Here Liam didn't look very old but I was stunned to discover he was actually born in 1980. The ending was kind of weird - Scarlett realised her true love was Liam and broke off with her boyfrind. When she told Liam of her true feelings a great smile spread across his face, he caressed her hands and they walked off to participate in her sister's wedding. During this they kept giving each other goofy smiles, then at the reception later that night Scarlett walks over to liam they say "hey" and he asks if he can kiss her. It lasts all of 2 seconds and they walk off hand in hand back to the reception - decidedly odd - that apart though they made it clear the path their future lives would take and I do like the i's dotted and the t's crossed! But there was something about this movie which just touched me - this and Hearts Down Under are my two favourite movies to date this year - interestingly neither of them are Hallmark (I know Hearts Down Under was shown on Hallmark but it was bought from Netflix in Australia)." ~ Florence

  1. There's something really strange about this - I mentioned this movie yesterday as one I would like to see.

I checked the BYUtv movie list for May 2021 and couldn't find any RomComs listed - for some reason they are only showing lists of movies on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays and this is on a Wednesday.

Now when I check the schedule for Wednesday 05 May, I can't find this listed - I've gone through the full day because of maybe a time difference.

    I'm totally confused.

Do they have a number of different chnnels?

    1. According to BYU's schedule CUPIDS ON BEACON STREET is not airing, but they show on their streaming page that it is.

I contacted them and received this response:
"Unfortunately that movie won't be available May 8th but will be available later -this summer, likely June. We will update the website!"

I received that message a few days ago and the web-site still hasn't been updated - in fact it now says it will be available in a few hours. Guess we'll see.

"As Gouda As It Gets" is showing in the schedule next week on BYUtv. Hopefully it will air just fine.

    2. If "CUPIDS ON BEACON STREET" airs on BYUtv today, it would be at 5pm/4c. - so you might want to check/record then - just in case.

    1. Hmmm??? That is strange. I checked my recording from today from DirecTV and it was on at 1pm to around 2:30pm.

I'm not familiar with how frndly works. Do you watch live TV or do you choose through a list of Movies/TV show titles?

  8. I was able to record the 1pm showing on the dvr (I have the BYU channel through Verizon cable). I haven't watched it yet, but I just watched the beginning of the movie and the title is definitely "You May Kiss the Bridesmaid".

I would like to watch the other, previously aired, BYU movies that I had missed the opportunity to record. I tried to watch through the BYUtv website but for some reason they won't play on my laptop. I signed up to join their channel and I even tried turning off all the tight security on my computer but all I get is a blank, black screen where the movie should be playing. ???? I'm confused. Also, I don't have smart tvs so I suppose I'd have to buy a special usb-c/hdmi cable to watch them on the tv (that's if I can ever get them to actually play on the computer!). Or maybe I'll just wait until they maybe replay them on the byu tv channel. Thanks for keeping us posted, Net.

For some reason I really haven't been in the mood to watch any of the movies I've recorded. I seem to only be in the mood to read books or watch Christmas movie dvd's or rodeos on the Cowboy Channel. Hopefully, one of these days I'll be in the mood to watch some of these movies so I can clear out the dvr!

    1. Jane, That is interesting and frustrating that the movies won't play for you. I had to refresh it a couple times, but then it played fine for me. I actually use a cord from my iPhone and play it on my TV and the picture was crystal clear.

Sometimes it is good to take a movie break; I totally understand.

      Blessings on your weekend! :)

    1. Jane, So good to hear you enjoyed "You May Kiss the Bridesmaid," too! The setting was gorgeous... I agree! I just fell in love with it, as well.

I love that you used to be a florist and wedding/party planner. That is such a cool and hard job - being there for life's special moments and making them beautiful, special and grand. I've put together some large family parties and events, so I know how much work goes into it.

Glad this movie brought to mind wonderful memories for you. I shared your review above.

    1. Florence, Thank you so much for this lovely review. I'm glad you enjoyed this movie, too. I keep hoping we will see some more of these movies from Incendo productions on BYU, but they haven't aired a new one for a little awhile. Hopefully another movie will pop up soon!

I agree... it's amazing how young looking these stars are, no matter their age!

I added your review above. ^

    2. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I sure enjoyed writing it... Btw, the reason for some of the physical awkwardness, such as walking down the aisle alone, is that this movie was filmed during COVID -Nastasha Baron

    3. Natasha, Thank you for visiting here and sharing with us. Your movie, You May Kiss the Bridesmaid, was such an enjoyable watch. I totally understand how things have been odd with the virus and filming. The interaction between the leads isn't at all awkward, just a little more low key than usual. Overall, it was such a sweet story, and I loved seeing the whole family working together.

Hope we'll see your other story, Christmas in the Pines, on TV somewhere this upcoming holiday season!

  13. Aww, how fun to have the writer, Nastasha stop by! You May Kiss the Bridesmaid was so lovely with beautiful scenes and a gently moving story. I loved the abundance of natural dialogue between the leads. Casting was perfect!

If the Christmas movie has similar sweetness, I'm sure to love it!

  15. Natasha, is COVID also the reason why the kiss at the end is so brief and seems out of kilter with the rest of the movie which I thought was so warm and tender?
