Santa Claus is Comin' to Town + Frozen and Toy Story highlight ABC's Christmas 2020 Schedule - SEE HERE:

As most of you know by now, there will be no Charlie Brown cartoons this holiday season on ABC since Apple purchased the streaming rights. (In the words of Lucy... "Those Blockheads!" Sorry, it had to be said and now I feel much better.)

Despite there being no showing of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and cherished favorite A Charlie Brown Christmas on their channel this Christmas, ABC will still be airing some beloved Christmas cartoons. It doesn't make up for Charlie Brown by any means; however, it's still nice to see some tradition is remaining.

In their recent press release, ABC revealed air-times for the Disney animations Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, Toy Story That Time Forgot, Disney Prep & Landing, plus the Rankin/Bass classic Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town and others. In addition to that programming, ABC is also bringing back the annual CMA Country Christmas and The Great Christmas Light Fight, as well as The Disney Holiday Singalong and The Sound of Music. See the schedule below...

  2. CBS Announces airdates for Frosty The Snowman and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer on WHIO-TV
Your favorite holiday classics are returning to WHIO-TV this year

2 of the best holiday TV classics of all-time are returning to WHIO-TV this Holiday season. CBS announced when all of their animated holiday specials are airing this year. Check out the schedule below and be sure to mark your calendars and/or set your DVRs accordingly.

    FRIDAY, NOV. 27
Frosty The Snowman - 8 PM
Frosty, that “jolly, happy soul” whose old silk hat full of magic has turned him into a musical Christmas legend, once again demonstrates his unique showmanship. Narrated by Jimmy Durante, the special also includes the voices of Jackie Vernon (as Frosty) and Billy De Wolfe (as Professor Hinkle).

    Frosty Returns - 8:30 PM
The magic still in his old silk hat, the holiday season’s perennially popular original dancing snowman continues his adventure and skates on the edge of danger. Jonathan Winters is the narrator with John Goodman
    as the voice of Frosty.

    SATURDAY, NOV. 28
Robbie The Reindeer: Hooves of Fire - 8 PM
In this animated special, Robbie (voiced by Ben Stiller) must train to compete in the Reindeer Races to become a part of the sleigh team for Santa (voiced by Jim Belushi).

Robbie The Reindeer: Legend of the Lost Tribe 8:30 PM
In the second of two 30-minute specials, Robbie battles Blitzen (voiced by Hugh Grant) in an effort to stop his nemesis’s launch of a reindeer theme park. Britney Spears, James Woods, Leah Remini, and Jerry Stiller are among the additional stars to lend their voices.

The Story of Santa Claus - 9 PM
This animated musical holiday special revolves around a gentle toymaker (voiced by Ed Asner) whose only wish is to deliver a toy to every child on Christmas. The voices of Betty White and Tim Curry are also featured.

    TUESDAY, DEC. 1
    Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer - 8 PM
Narrated by Burl Ives, who is also heard as the voice of Sam the Snowman, this favorite is a musical story based on the popular song of the same name by Johnny Marks. It recounts the tale of a shy reindeer whose Christmas spirit is dampened because his shiny nose has made him the laughingstock of all of Christmasville.

  4. It's become difficult to find child-friendly Christmas / Hannukah / holiday season programs -particularly on network television. Perhaps that's because there are now so many other channels? But for those --and there are still many --who are unable to afford cable or other means of getting anything but free television, I'm sure this is disappointing.

    1. Matt, I agree. Finding TV shows/movies and even cartoons we can trust is becoming increasingly difficult these days. I think that's why we all hold on tight to the Christmas cartoons of the past. Their innocent message of peace on earth and giving to others never fades away. Hope you can catch some of the good ones this Christmas.

  5. Did you know that in Santa Claus is Coming to Town Mickey Rooney is the voice of Kris Kringle?

    1. Chris, Oh my goodness... I adore Mickey Rooney! All of his old movies are fantastic. And yes, I knew that was his sweet voice in the cartoon, along with Shirley Booth, from the classic sitcom "Hazel," where she played the delightful maid. My Grandmother loved that show.
