MY TAKE:

I have heard great enthusiasm over the new "When Hope Calls" series! In fact, many Hearties ("When Calls the Heart" fans) are most excited to see this new prairie series, with the addition of "WCTH" Hope Valley visitors, Mountie Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry), plus Lee and Rosemary Coulter (Kavan Smith and Pascale Hutton).

The rest of the Hallmark movies listed above, newly added to Hallmark Movies Now, are all ones I have seen, and are mostly appropriate for family viewing. I say mostly - because the mystery films are not always suitable for young viewers. Please use caution there. Also, "Hello, It's Me," with Kellie Martin and Kavan Smith is a sweet love story, but I want to foreworn, it has a somewhat odd super natural twist, that may be confusing for children.

At first, I wasn't certain I had seen "Love Surreal," but after looking it up, I realized it was previously titled "Everything You Want," and it initially aired on ABC Family in 2005 with a TV-PG rating. I recall it now with that title, and I remember the movie being strangely peculiar. I looked up some reviews from Amazon, which pretty much verified my memories of the film (see here). In short, they shared: this movie is mostly clean... cute with issues... a tad silly... a bit odd... with random inappropriate, out of context remarks..., plus, a pretend boyfriend who appears to be living with the lead girl.

The only film above, I've yet to see is "An Hour Behind," so I decided to also read some Amazon reviews on it. From what reviewers have shared, it appears to be a decent film for all ages, so I'm looking forward to watching it sometime - hopefully soon! Barry Watson, who plays the leading man, has been a favorite of mine since his days on the family drama "7th Heaven." He also starred in the Hallmark movie, "Kiss at Pine Lake." The lead actress is Emily Rose, of Hallmark's "The Thanksgiving House."

Those of you who subscribe to Hallmark Movies Now, or are planning to, it looks like there will be lots of wonderful films, in addition to "When Hope Calls" to look forward to in September! Enjoy!

Blessings! Net

  1. I totally forgot about The feeling of Home, I wonder why they never play it on HM? That was one of the better movies from last fall.

Ok, Net, I have to tell you this, I am NOT a fan of Mitch on Heartland. Maybe cause I still hold out hope for a Peter/Lou reunion, but not feeling Mitch and Lou.

    1. Yeah, I was surprised to see “A Feeling of Home,” which just premiered in May - during Countdown to Summer, move so quickly to Hallmark Movies Now. With it's country charm and farm setting, it would've fit right in with the other Fall Harvest films on the Hallmark Channel this Autumn. Anyway, I guess we won't be seeing it on TV any longer. If we like something, we better keep it on our DVRs, cause you never know, it may never play again.

As for Heartland... I totally get your take on Mitch and Lou. It's definitely a rocky road there. I'm not sure how far you are, but their relationship definitely has lots of ups & downs.

    2. Net -- I agree. Even though "A Feeling of Home" was a Countdown to Summer movie, it could easily fit into Fall Harvest because of the farm. I'm surprised they didn't keep it on the channel through at least the end of Fall Harvest, and then move it to HMN in 2020.

I know that "A Feeling of Home" was not well-received by a lot of people on social media. I saw many complaints. I wonder if that had something to do with the hasty move to HMN. But Hallmark has moved other movies to HMN that were not as poorly received -- such as "Truly, Madly, Sweetly," which was only 4-6 months past its premiere on the Hallmark Channel when it was suddenly moved to HMN -- so who even knows at this point? lol

  2. I am so grateful to you for doing research on some of the movies from the past i.e. "Love Surreal" and have let us know how appropriate you feel they may be for family. I know that you used your valuable time looking for the reviews...and many of us really want to know if there are themes or scenes or "supernatural" stuff that would confuse young ones. And as an adult, I want to be careful with what I read and see. Blessings and thanks again!

    1. Thank you for your thoughtful, uplifting comment. Bless you! That means so much to me.

When making a decision on what to watch my faith and morals are the two utmost important factors in my decision making. I remember the sweet, simple song we used to sing as children in Sunday school -

"O be careful little eyes what you see
O be careful little eyes what you see
      There's a Father up above
And He's looking down in love
So, be careful little eyes what you see

O be careful little ears what you hear
O be careful little ears what you hear
      There's a Father up above
And He's looking down in love
So, be careful little ears what you hear..."

There are more verses, but those are the two that have stuck out to me and remained in my mind and heart all these years. The words may have been simple then, but they are still true today. Once we see things and hear things, we can never take it back, so it's good to be aware and guard our hearts, even in, or perhaps, especially in this world we live in today.

I'm so glad you feel the same about what you watch. Thank you, again, for sharing! God's Blessings to you!

    2. Hey Net,

Yes, I remember that simple little song too! I love how these songs for children convey a message that can have such meaning for us adults too!

There are three additional verses to this tune:
O be careful little hands what you do...
O be careful little feet where you go...
O be careful little mouth what you say...

Now you can sing the whole song for all to hear!! :)

    3. Thank you, Mark25, for sharing this memory with me! I do recall those additional verses, as well. What a beautiful message. Isn't it wonderful how these songs and sweet words root themselves into our souls at such an early age. If only more children were taught them, it would be a much better world.

  3. I saw 'An Hour Behind' on Amazon for free! LOL. It was a cute movie. I guess the movies listed just don't interest me enough to get Hallmark Now. But, I hope you guys enjoy the 'When Hope Calls' show.

I noticed when checking reviews that it was available to watch free through my Amazon Prime. I love that. I'm definitely going to do that.
