Hallmark Press Release:

CROWN MEDIA BUILDS HALLMARK DRAMA’S ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING SLATE WITH TWO NEW MARQUEE PRODUCTIONS

Sequel to Original Movie “JL Family Ranch” and Latest Installment in “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” Franchise to Premiere on the Network in 2020

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – July 26, 2019 – Hallmark Drama, Crown Media Family Networks’ third linear network, will debut two new, original movies in 2020 as part of its strategy of adding original content to the schedule. Slated to debut in 2020, the sequel to the original movie “JL Family Ranch” and the latest installment of fan-favorite movie franchise “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” will mark the latest offerings of Hallmark Drama’s growing slate of proprietary original content and serve as the first original movie premieres developed for the burgeoning network. The announcement was made today as part of Crown Media Family Networks’ bi-annual Television Critics Summer Press Tour.

Starring Jon Voight, Teri Polo, James Caan, Bo Derek, Dylan Walsh, Trevor Donovan Judson Mills, Abby Brammell, and Skyler Shaye the story of “JL Family Ranch,” follows the trials and tribulations of a veteran rancher and former sheriff as he fights the federal bureaucracy to keep his family ranch when a grudge-seeking enemy attempts to throw land ownership into question with false documents.

From acclaimed executive producer Martha Williamson, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” has been one of Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ most beloved franchises. The comedic drama follows the lives of postal workers – known as the POstables – who transform themselves into an untraditional team of detectives to track down intended recipients of undeliverable mail. Their missions take them out of the office into an unpredictable world where redirected letters and packages can save lives, solve crimes, reunite old loves and change futures by arriving late but somehow on time. Having first premiered on the network in 2014, the franchise stars Eric Mabius, Kristin Booth, Crystal Lowe, and Geoff Gustafson, who are all reprising their roles.

AMATEUR BAKERS TEAM UP WITH BELOVED HALLMARK TALENT IN ‘CHRISTMAS COOKIE COUNTDOWN’ (wt) FEATURING THE CAST OF ‘WHEN CALLS THE HEART’

Five-Part Weekly Series, Premieres on Hallmark Drama This Holiday Season

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, July 26, 2019 – America’s most talented home bakers have a special opportunity to put their skills to the test alongside talent from one of cable’s highest-rated shows in “Christmas Cookie Countdown” (wt) featuring the Cast of “When Calls the Heart,” a new series hosted by Jack Wagner (Bill Avery from “When Calls the Heart”) debuting on Hallmark Drama this holiday season. In addition to Wagner, “When Calls the Heart” stars Erin Krakow, Pascale Hutton, Kavan Smith, Chris McNally, Paul Greene and Andrea Brooks are confirmed to participate. The announcement was made today as part of Crown Media Family Networks’ biannual Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour.

Premiering this holiday season, the five-part series kicks off with six teams of two consisting of one home baker and a different star from Hallmark Channel’s hit primetime series, “When Calls the Heart.” In each episode, a panel of two professional bakers will judge as the contestants go spatula-to-spatula in a variety of Christmas cookie and holiday dessert competitions. One team will be eliminated each week and, in the end, only one pair of cookie connoisseurs will prevail, winning the $25,000 grand prize.

“This show is a different kind of seasonal programming for us and when we first announced it at our Upfront event in March, we were still developing the concept,” said Crown Media Executive Vice President, Programming & Network Publicity, Michelle Vicary. “Since that time, we have created an incredibly fun and engaging format that is designed to become a new Hallmark holiday tradition for our audience, while also inspiring baking-inclined viewers to create cookie masterpieces of their own.” “Christmas Cookie Countdown” (wt) featuring the Cast of “When Calls the Heart” marks the first-ever original content developed for Hallmark Drama since the network launched in 2017.

ABOUT HALLMARK DRAMA Launched in October 2017, Hallmark Drama joined Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries as Crown Media Family Networks’ third linear cable television network. Hallmark Press Release:

IT’S A MERRIER AND MORE MUSICAL HOLIDAY SEASON WHEN ARTISTS SHOW OFF THEIR VOCAL TALENTS DURING THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF HALLMARK CHANNEL’S ‘COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS’ AND HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES’ ‘MIRACLES OF CHRISTMAS’

Kristin Chenoweth, Amy Grant, Drew Seeley, Chaley Rose & Rome Flynn Lend Their Voices to Original Movie Premieres

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – July 26, 2019 – Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without songs of the season. This holiday, viewers will get a special musical treat with original movie premieres during Hallmark Channel’s 10th anniversary of “Countdown to Christmas” and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ “Miracles of Christmas” programming events when artists including Tony® and Emmy® Award winner Kristin Chenoweth ( You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, “Pushing Daisies”), Grammy Award winner Amy Grant, television and Broadway star Drew Seeley ( Jersey Boys , “One Tree Hill”), actress and singer Chaley Rose (“Nashville”) and actor and singer Rome Flynn (“How to Get Away with Murder”) lend their vocal talents to original songs featured in the networks’ romantic and heartwarming yuletide tales. The songs from treasured music icons Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton are also a marquee part of the networks’ Christmas celebration in “Christmas at Graceland 2” (wt) and “Christmas at Dollywood,” providing a very merry soundtrack. The announcement was made today as part of Crown Media Family Networks’ bi-annual Television Critics Summer Press Tour.

“The right Christmas music is key to setting the mood for the holiday season so we couldn’t be more thrilled to feature original songs in our movie premieres this year,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming & Network Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “We’re fortunate to have so many new songs performed by such talented stars, so turn up the volume because this holiday season will be triumphant and bright on Hallmark.”

In “A Christmas Love Song,” Chenoweth stars as a youth choir director who needs to write a big song for the Christmas Eve show but becomes distracted from that endeavor when Danny (Kevin Quinn, “Bunk’d”), a boy with a golden voice joins her choir, much to the surprise of his widowed father played by Scott Wolf (“The Night Shift,” “Party of Five”). Little does she know a life-changing, emotional surprise is in store for her moments before the show as she gets ready to take the stage and sing “When Angels Land” with Danny.

Drew Seeley harkens back to his pop background in “Write Before Christmas,” in which he portrays Jax, a once-hot pop star who’s stepped away from the spotlight in recent years. When he receives an unexpected Christmas card from Jessica (Torrey DeVitto, “Chicago Med,” “One Tree Hill”) explaining how his music got her through a difficult period in her life, he becomes inspired once again and sets out to write a new Christmas song. Jax reconnects with his former band members to mend fences and reunite just in time for a pop-up Christmas Eve performance.

In “A Christmas Duet,” Chaley Rose and Rome Flynn star as Averie and Jesse, a former singing duo famous for their song “Wouldn’t Be Christmas.” Five years earlier they went their separate ways both romantically and professionally but chance brings them together when he makes a stop while touring at the inn she now runs. As she preps to host the town’s Yuletide Festival and he gets further waylaid by inclement weather, it’s undeniable that sparks begin to rekindle and just maybe the magic of Christmas will bring them back together both on stage and as a couple.

Beloved by millions for her Christmas music, Amy Grant and her timeless voice will be featured front and center in her first movie for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, the heartfelt “When I Think of Christmas.”

  1. Wow! So many things happening! Trevor is going to be in TWO Christmas movies for Hallmark? Cool to know who is going to be in Nostalgic Christmas. I have to look up about the new book coming out too.

    1. Hi Misty! It appears Hallmark is already changing titles around, which is common. Nostalgic Christmas is a new title for The House of Wooden Santas. I just bet Trevor and Brooke D'Orsay will be so cute together! :)

  2. I am excited for the new Christmas movies! But I wish that the Christmas Cookie Show would come on Hallmark Channel instead of the Drama Channel. Verizon doesn't offer that.

    1. I'm hoping as Hallmark Drama's popularity grows, more cable providers will carry it. Let's hope Verizon is one of them! It really is a wonderful station!

    2. I sure hope Spectrum decides to carry Hallmark Drama. Maybe Hallmark Movies and Mysteries will air the new Signed, Sealed, Delivered movie for those who don’t get the channel? Also I really hope the new show When Hope Calls gets aired on other platforms as well at some point.

  3. Last night's event was very interesting, indeed. I was covering it all night, rounding up photos and news bits over on Facebook and looking closely at arrival videos and photos on Getty Images and Shutterstock -- and what struck me as notable was how many "regulars" at other TCAs were seemingly not in attendance at this one (actors, writers and others), even if they have actual known, official projects coming up on the assorted Hallmark Channels!

For example, I know that Danica McKellar is filming over in Ottawa and presumably could not attend, but she has THREE movies coming up THIS YEAR. It's not like her movies are airing next year. All 3 of them are airing between August and December. I'm just surprised that Hallmark could not arrange for her filming to break for one day so they could fly her out to L.A., as they fly other people out to it. She is one of the major faces on the channels.

And no Candace Cameron Bure either? I know she was working on the "Fuller House" set, directing an episode, but it was odd to not see her at this event, as she is a staple at each one.

And did they actually announce a Jesse Metcalfe mystery series when Jesse was not even there? or was he there and I missed seeing him? I think he is on vacation.

Again, I know that a lot of people were unable to attend, but it was strange to not see them there.

On the other hand, there were people in attendance who did NOT go to the last Winter TCA party in February (Jessica Lowndes and Jessy Schram, for example) -- and yet they WERE at this Summer event. Were they there to promote upcoming projects? Who knows?

It was just an odd night in terms of which bits of news was revealed, which bits of news were NOT revealed, and who was or was NOT in attendance! lol

I kept thinking, "Did the cast of In the Key of Love at least get invited to this event, and did any of them show up?" I know Andrea Brooks was there, but was Laura Osnes not there?

Also, I am surprised that Alicia Witt's movie is intended for the HMM channel, as the title alone sounds more "Hallmark Channel-ish" to me, really. Maybe it will move from HMM to HC.

    1. Yes, I, too, thought it was quite unusual for Candace and Danica to not be there for this big event. Like you said, they were both busy filming, but it was certainly different without them there.

I did see a pic of Laura Osnes there. Perhaps, she will be in something else for the network. TBA.

I didn't see Jesse Metcalfe, and was also surprised he wasn't there to make the big announcement on his new mystery series. But, I guess that's how it goes sometimes. Every body is busy these days.

As for Alicia Witt's movie... you never know, it could still be moved to the Hallmark Channel. Changes, as we know, are inevitable... all too well! Haha!

I thought Cameron Mathison's movie sounded more like an HMM Christmas movie, so you never know where any of them will end up!

      Delete
    2. I finally saw a photo of Laura Osnes when I went back to check either Getty Images or Shutterstock once again. More photos had been added in since I last checked! I'm glad she at least got to be there, after all of that madness with her movie being removed from the Hallmark Channel line-up and sent to the streaming service.

I have seen a couple of people wondering why nothing Fall Harvest-related was announced. Now it IS possible that it could have been announced there, at the TCA presentation by the Crown Media people. Or it could have been revealed to the members of the media in one-on-one interviews. There are some things that are announced at these TCA events that Hallmark doesn't put in press releases right away. So we might not hear about them until later.

So I can kind of understand that we didn't see any Fall Harvest press releases YET (maybe they are coming up in another couple of weeks). They are just now winding down Christmas in July. They want to focus on the 10th anniversary of the Countdown to Christmas. They are just now kicking off Summer Nights. I get it -- it wasn't the right time to announce anything pertaining to Fall quite yet.

What IS baffling, however, is that there have already been at least 2 "early September" and/or "Fall" movies to go into production (one of them wrapped up and one of them is filming right now), and no one from either of those movies was there to represent them!

"Love in Store" (a.k.a. "Shopping for Love") was announced in Deadline yesterday. And it is already done filming, supposedly intended to air in September. Neither Alexandra Breckenridge nor Robert Buckley -- not even Jackee Harry! -- was at the TCA to promote it.

Likewise, neither of the lead actors in the Antonio Cupo-produced movie "Love Under the Olive Tree" was at the TCA to promote it. The leading man just posted a photo on Instagram showing some hay and pumpkins, so it is definitely a Fall Harvest movie -- but no one represented the movie at TCA.

I also expected Dylan Neal to be at this TCA, to officially announce "Gourmet Detective #5," since it's on IMDB and he has already teased people with hints about it. But since it can't air until 2020 anyway, I guess he can easily just go to the next Winter TCA and announce it then.

Holly Robinson Peete revealed some things that were not in any press release. She mentioned filming another "Morning Show Mystery," another "Christmas in Evergreen" movie, AND a separate Christmas movie with Patti LaBelle, called "A Family Christmas Gift." Here is the tweet where she mentions them:

      https://twitter.com/hollyrpeete/status/1154998478356901888

Is Holly saying that those 2 Christmas movies are airing THIS year, or NEXT year? It seems as though Hallmark would have wanted to announce a new movie with Patti LaBelle in their press releases if it is planned for this year, but who knows?? They DO still have a few Christmas movies that have yet to be announced, so maybe those two are included in that group.

      Delete
    3. I was ecstatic to see Holly Robinson Peete's tweet mention Christmas in Evergreen 3! I also thought it peculiar Hallmark didn't share news of it in their Christmas press release, but perhaps, it's still early and the main casting, etc... is still underway. Anyway, I'm sure they will want to make a big announcement about the new Evergreen movie in Deadline, ET, EW, or somewhere like that!

I bet your right on "Gourmet Detective 5!" If Holly hadn't mentioned "Morning Show Mystery," we wouldn't have heard any thing about it in a press release - coming in 2020. However, I guess that one was kinda obvious since Al Roker was there!

As for Fall Harvest... I did see Niall Matter mention he'll be filming "Country at Heart" soon with Jessy Schram, which certainly sounds like a great Fall Harvest title!

And... I'm hearing Ryan Paevey will star in "Christmas at the Plaza," which is, yet, another movie not revealed in any press release.

There is certainly a lot to absorb and discover from this TCA!

      Blessings! Net

      Delete
    4. Oh, Net -- Thank you so much for mentioning "Country at Heart." While I had seen the title of the movie a while back, it was labeled as an "independent" movie -- but I had a feeling that it was a Fall Harvest movie in disguise. BUT, of course, there would not be any confirmation of that until it started filming, so I was waiting on it to get going.

I did NOT see the Niall Matter-Jessy Schram connection to the movie, however. So your mention of them being in it is the first I am hearing. If he said it on a live stream of the arrivals, I must have completely just blanked out and not heard him, assuming he was only talking about "Aurora Teagarden." And if he said it on Twitter, I completely missed it there too.

I think that Niall and Jessy sound like a good match -- that's a pairing that makes sense in print. Hopefully it translates to the screen.

Well, at least Niall and Jessy were each at the TCA event, unlike the leads in "Love in Store" and "Love Under the Olive Tree"! lol So at least *something* from Fall Harvest was being represented there.

And since other actresses such as Jessica Lowndes and Erin Cahill were there, I am going to go out on a limb and assume it means that we will be seeing them in something coming up as well, either for Fall Harvest or Christmas. No network has officially claimed the Christmas movie that Erin Cahill just filmed with Kevin McGarry and Patrick Duffy, but I am assuming it will end up with Lifetime.

I was also curious about Cindy Busby and Tom Maden being at the event. Was Cindy there because she was just in a June Weddings movie, or because she has a new project coming up? Was Tom Maden there because he was just in "Love in the Sun," or does he have another movie coming up?

Barbara Niven mentioned that there would be a "Christmas in Evergreen" #3 right when #2 premiered last year, but since Hallmark has not mentioned anything about it all year, I assumed it was delayed and maybe not happening until 2020. So when Holly confirmed it -- and seemed to imply that it would possibly be filming sometime soon -- I was even more baffled that Hallmark has not said anything about it in any of their Christmas announcements!

But I think I am more surprised that they did not announce Holly's Christmas movie with Patti LaBelle in their Christmas press release. The ONLY reason we even know that one exists is because of Holly, and yet it sounds like it is supposed to happen this year too. Because Patti is in it, I would think that Hallmark would want to hype it up and get people excited for it. Oh well. I guess they will announce it in EW or ET when it starts production.

    5. I saw Jessy Shram picture with the darker hair, I loved it and then wondered if she is in something coming up. I loved her in Harvest Moon and the Birthday Wish (that movie is so funny)

I was one of them that wanted info on Fall Harvest. with the new movie every Saturday night thing, it has me wondering when Fall Harvest will start, will it be mid sept like is has the past few years?

    6. Niall Matter posted the info on Twitter - with pics of himself and Jessy together! :)

    7. As to when Fall Harvest might begin.... Of course, who really knows what Hallmark will do, but IF they stick to what they did in 2018 and 2017, they will officially start Fall Harvest on the next-to-last Saturday of September. So there would be two September Fall Harvest movies and then however many more they pack into October (through Oct. 19th/20th).

And then, prior to Fall Harvest beginning, they *should* have non-Fall movies premiering on September 7th and 14th, if they keep up with the "new movie every Saturday" deal.

But just when I think I have Hallmark nailed down to a pattern they can stick to, they end up doing something I didn't expect and making all kinds of crazy changes. And if I expect a bunch of crazy changes, they will probably end up not changing a thing -- just to spite me! lol

So, for all I know, they could suddenly decide to start Fall Harvest on the last Saturday in September, OR they could start it even earlier, like on the second Saturday in September.

Right now, the only confirmed/official Hallmark movie that does NOT really seem to be Fall-ish (and therefore would probably premiere before Fall Harvest begins) is "Love in Store." So if it actually is not a Fall Harvest movie, then it would have to air on 9/7 or 9/14.

But I don't know what the other early September/post-Summer Nights/NON-Fall Harvest movie would be. Nothing else seems to be an obvious contender for a post-Summer/pre-Fall slot, unless, for some reason, Hallmark acquires a movie.

I suppose they could always skip another Saturday and leave it without a new movie, choosing instead to only air the Fall Harvest preview special on 9/14 or something along those lines.

But "Love Under the Olive Tree" and "Country at Heart" seem to be the first clear, obvious Fall Harvest movies for this year.

I was trying to get a handle on the theme -- if there is one -- of the Merritt Patterson/Jack Turner movie that is currently filming in Ireland (she has been tagging Hallmark in her Stories, so it's no secret). My first thought was that it would be a Spring Fever 2020 movie -- or maybe even a St. Patrick's Day movie, which would be nice. I don't know that it's not a March or Spring movie, but I thought it would also be fun and unexpected if they decided to do a Fall Harvest movie in Ireland. We never really get any destination movies for Fall Harvest, so that would be something out of the ordinary.

Merritt did show a quick glimpse of some sort of festival in one of her IG Stories from maybe one week ago or so, but it didn't appear Fall-ish and I couldn't get a good look at the banner with the name of the festival on it. So I am guessing we won't see that Ireland movie until next year sometime, but... who knows? For all I know, maybe the movie will end up being one of the early September/pre-Fall Harvest installments, maybe airing either on Labor Day OR on September 7th?? There IS some sort of baking going on in the movie -- Merritt and Jack were covered in what looked like flour in one of her Stories -- and baking seems to fit into many Hallmark movies of various themes.

    8. What about Daniel Lissing! Hallmark seems to have forgotten him. Remember Dec. Bride with Jessica Lowndes in November 2016. Amazing couple! It was a great movie! 4.2 million live viewers tuned in, per: David Winning's tweet. Jessica also posted on her instagram on 08/17/18 " How many of you would love to see another movie with Daniel and I " over 35k likes and almost 1500 comments. With all the Hearties and others that love Daniel Lissing, this would bring in a huge amount of viewers! What about that idea!!

  6. It is so gratifying to read such high praise for the truly heartwarming and incomporable stories of Signed, Sealed, Delivered. Hallmark's Press Release referred to the "fan-favorite movie franchise" and also "one of Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' most beloved franchises"! The growing number of devoted fans are thrilled that Hallmark recognizes the creative genius of Martha Williamson and the unique talent of our four POstables make SSD the heart of Hallmark.

    1. There are still more Christmas movies left to announce, so you never know! However, with filming for WCTH soon, time will be limited for filming a Christmas movie for any of their cast members. At least, we should expect to see Chris McNally in the WCTH Christmas movie!!!

    2. Some of the men's outfits were funny to me, maybe I am not up with current trends, but what is up with the highwater pants Kevin Mcgarry wore? I am not always up on new trends, maybe that is what guys wear nowadays. Aside from the pants, he looked great and everyone else did too. I may not like Kellie Pickler acting or her voice, but she looked beautiful. She is a beautiful women.

    3. Hey Sabrina! As far as fashion goes, it seems any thing goes these days, and yet, I'm always still surprised by various choices.

Sometimes I wonder if their stylist told them they would look good in something, take a risk, be a stand out, or whatever. And sometimes that advice is clearly wrong, but for the most part everyone looked lovely and nice. Rachel Boston, Kristoffer Polaha, Trevor Donovan, and Andrea Brooks were my absolute favorites this year!
