TCM's Mothers Day Tribute
Image via: TCM |
Each Mother's Day - TCM is always faithful to play a number of classic movies which honors Mothers. This year they are playing nine such films: Roughly Speaking, Nancy Goes to Rio, White Heat, Listen, Darling, Stella Dallas, Mildred Pierce, Pocketful of Miracles, I Remember Mama, and Yours, Mine and Ours (1968).
My personal picks of the day on TCM are: Listen, Darling, which stars a young Judy Garland and I Remember Mama, a heartwarming film starring Irenne Dunne.

Happy Mother's Day Weekend!
I pray a very Happy Mother's Day to all of you Mothers who visit here! Once again, I am blessed to be spending this Mothers Day with my precious Momma, Grandmother, and all of my family! What a gift!
For those of you whose Mothers or Grandmothers will not be with you, I pray you will recall many sweet memories... that bring you joy!
Unfortunately, there aren't as many Mother's Day specials airing this weekend on TV - as there used to be. Even Hallmark's latest Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, "Love Takes Flight," which is centered around the Mother's Day holiday, is NOT airing this weekend. I was very surprised not to see it in the schedule. Hopefully, many of you were able to record it to re-watch this weekend.
Cherish your moments & memories!
Blessings to You All! Net

ReplyDeleteYes, a happy day for all! :)
DeleteLinda, what a sweet message you sent. I hope all the moms who visit here have a great Mothers Day. My mama is in heaven....she was the best! I miss her very much, but know one day I will see her again & my dad.
ReplyDeleteNet,I hope you and your mom & grandmother have a wonderful day. What a blessing to still have both with you.
Thank you, Joyce! Our God tells us He will be a Father to the Fatherless and what a reunion it will be when we are all reunited once again. Peace, sweetie!
DeleteJoyce, your comment touched me deeply. I'm so glad to know you had such a wonderful mama and dad, and your precious memories.

Thank you for sharing the love, Misty! :)
DeleteWhat the ??? No Love Takes Flight this weekend? A Mother's Day movie? That is seriously messed up. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Net. Hallmark's programming department honestly needs to get it together. They just premiered that new HHOF movie like a few weeks back and they don't play it on Mothers Day? Seriously, I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteThat's right. "Love Takes Flight," the new Hallmark Hall of Fame movie that celebrates Mother's Day, is NOT airing this weekend, at all. Hallmark is typically great about airing the appropriate Holiday movies at just the right time, so I found this to be peculiar we are not getting a repeat showing of this Mother's Day movie - actually on Mother's Day. I can't imagine what the thinking was behind this programming decision, but it is disappointing, to say the least. I know many were touched by this heartwarming film, as my family was, and Mother's Day would have been an ideal time to play an encore airing.
DeleteI love that picture of Elizabeth and Jack from WCTH! Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteOh.... Baby Jack has touched everyone's hearts! What a doll! :)

‘When Calls the Heart' Creator Drops a BIG Clue That Lori Loughlin's Character Abigail May Come Back
ReplyDeleteBut will Hallmark be okay with this?
Within the first few minutes of the season 6 premiere of When Calls the Heart, the show very obviously addressed Lori Loughlin's absence.
As a result of the scandal, Hallmark has reportedly cut ties with Lori, which means she is no longer on When Calls the Heart. To explain Lori's departure, the latest episode began with Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) writing a letter to a friend about all the changes happening in Hope Valley — including what's going on with Lori's character, Abigail.
Elizabeth writes, "It's been a week since Abigail got word that her mother had taken ill back East ... True to her nature, Abigail wasted no time in rushing off to care for her. Abigail is much more than a friend, she's family." Elizabeth also notes that Abigail will be missed "deeply," but that everyone remaining in Hope Valley "must get by as best we can."
"We all keep Abigail and her family in our prayers in her absence and wish her godspeed," Elizabeth concludes. "In her absence we must soldier on and we will. We are a community, we are strong, we are Hope Valley."
While those watching saw all of this unfold during the premiere, what When Calls the Heart executive producer and creator Brian Bird did on social media during the episode was most likely missed.
Interestingly enough, Brian liked the below tweet from a fan that suggested Abigail's storyline may not be over.
"@brbird Thank You an all involved. Perfectly explained! It did not change anything really from WCTH I am so glad!," the fan tweeted while mentioning Brian. "It would not of [sic] felt right if they had her die or replace her right away. This way leaves the door open to decide in the future what they will or can do next."
In fact, there were several fans who came to the same conclusion and were equally pleased that the WCTH writers seemingly left the door open for Abigail.
"Thank you for all your hard work!! Love this show!!! Love how you explain how Abigail had to leave town to take care of her mother, it leaves the story line for her to come back!" one Heartie wrote. "Love the way Abigail’s absence was handled. However, I really miss her and hope that she will return," another wished.
So, what's the likelihood that Lori Loughlin will come back as Abigail?
While the future of Lori's character remains uncertain, Brian has hinted before in interviews that he believes Hope Valley is "a place of second chances."
"Some of the fans have asked what will happen to Abigail’s character, and shared their opinion that Hope Valley should be an example of forgiveness and grace. As Lori’s friend, I could not agree more," he told From the Desk.
Still, he did go on to say that he thinks "having a heart of forgiveness does not mean that justice can be ignored.”
And that justice could, reportedly, involve up to 40 years behind bars for Lori, which would make her return unlikely.
Still, you never know. Maybe they'll replace Lori with another actress to play Abigail – Candace Cameron Bure perhaps? We shall see...
Personally, I don't feel like they would ever replace Lori's character, Abigail Stanton, on "When Calls the Heart," and if they did, I'm sure Candace Cameron Bure would not be the one to take the role. Since both actresses worked together on 'Full House' and are such good friends in real life - I'm fairly certain it would not be something Candace would want to do. Also, Lori is a little bit older than Candace, so the age would be wrong for the character.
DeleteAs for the possibility of Lori returning to the show one day... honestly, you never know. If things work out well for Lori in the court system and if Hallmark/fans/viewers are forgiving, then anything is certainly possible.
I also believe in justice and forgiveness. We will have to wait and see what happens next.
