Merry "Mark the 25th" Day of the Month, Everyone!
Here at "It's a Wonderful Movie" we highlight every 25th day of the month - as we countdown to Christmas! We started doing this last year, long before Hallmark started playing Christmas movies two nights of the week!
I so appreciate all the devoted Christmas movie watchers- who continue to join in every 25th!
For the huge Christmas movie fans who wish to join along, simply pick something Christmassy to watch today on the 25th! It can be a Christmas movie, cartoon, family sitcom or anything you like. (There's only one stipulation - it must be family friendly.) Please share in comments below your Christmas choice for the day!
On this day, March 25th, there are 274 days and so many hours & minutes - until December 25th, Christmas day!
My pick for this "Mark the 25th" is the UP Christmas movie "Paper Angels." This is an inspiring film - in which a struggling high school boy discovers a much needed friendship through basketball.
I thought this would be a great time to re-watch this movie during this March Madness basketball season! Also, don't forget to create your Merry Madness Bracket on Hallmark's web-site by 3pm PT./6pm ET. Thursday, March 28, 2019! You can make up to ten brackets - and a winner will be chosen to win $10,000!
Hallmark viewers will recognize one of the lead actresses in the movie - Josie Bissett, of "When Calls the Heart" and the "Wedding March" movies.
Paper Angels storyline: In Paper Angels, abused wife Lynn (Josie Bissett), leaves her alcoholic husband Darryl (Russell Porter), with her two kids, Thomas (Rustin Gresiuk) and Sara (Farryn Van Humbeck) and move to another town where she works as a waitress to make ends meet. In that same town, we meet Kevin (Matthew Settle), whose Marketing & Design company is on the brink of shutting down due to the economy. Plus, Kevin’s wife Jenny (Kendra Anderson) is in a difficult pregnancy with twins. Thomas starts a new school and becomes the target of a bully who is threatened by how well he plays basketball. Unable to join the high school team, Thomas goes to the community center where he meets Kevin and the two of them become unlikely friends through pickup basketball games. Little do they know the tremendous impact they will have on each other’s families this Christmas through The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program. Inspired by the hit holiday song by country star Jimmy Wayne and book by Wayne with Travis Thrasher.
The movie Paper Angels is available on DVD and Streaming!
Merry "Mark the 25th" Day, Everyone!

Awww..great choice, Net, and yes I own that DVD! Lol! Tonight I decided to watch "It's Christmas, Eve" with Tyler and LeAnn who I adore in this movie. The chemistry between those two and storyline made it one of my favorite Christmas movies of 2018. I loved the music and "The Gift of your Love" will be my #1 Christmas song for years to come. You know I had to buy the soundtrack along with the movie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet pick, Linda! "The Gift of your Love" is such a beautiful, meaningful song. Enjoy watching again... and singing along!!!
DeleteMy pick is an Hallmark Hall of Fame movie "Christmas in Conway". A grieving Husband Puts up a Ferris Wheel in his backyard so that his dyeing wife can have one last ride. A real inspirational Christmas movie.
ReplyDeleteThat is a deeply touching movie choice, Joe. I love how Mandy Moore's character is so caring and supportive... she portrays a wonderful caregiver. Enjoy watching again...
DeleteExcellent choice, Net. I remember watching this movie years back now on Up. I liked how everyone's lives ended up impacting someone else, a Christmas movie that actually has real meaning. I'm going to order the DVD and watch it this weekend. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, CJ! I know it's sometimes hard to get a chance to watch during the week. I also love how all the different stories and characters in the movie end up connecting with other lives within the movie... sometimes in unexpected ways. "Paper Angels" has a realism which is not represented in most Christmas movies. Enjoy watching it again - this weekend!
DeleteWish I had that movie, sounds good. You've inspired me to watch something with angels. I choice Fallen Angel.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful choice, too... I also love that movie. It's beautiful how the movie comes full circle and there is a beautiful reuniting! Enjoy!
DeleteI usually watch White Christmason the 25th but I decided that I will watch The Christmas Card since it is my favorite hallmark movie.
ReplyDeleteBoth of those movies are terrific choices and such a wonderful tribute for our military! Either way you can't go wrong! Enjoy watching "The Christmas Card" once again... one of my absolute Hallmark favorites, too... which, incidentally, was the first Merry Madness bracket winner!
DeleteMy choice is my favorite movie with Lacey Chabert, Matchmaker Santa!!
ReplyDeleteOooh... I love your pick, Denise! I love that sweet movie, too! That cute little Christmas town and cast is the best! :)
DeleteOh, Jim... What a beautiful comment!
ReplyDeleteFirst, what a fun "shining" Christmas choice today with Rudolph! I love when Santa finally has a change of heart... and the island of misfit toys - when they finally realize that Santa is coming for them! It really is a heartwarming, moving cartoon!
And... I love, love, love... how you and your Mother get together every Friday night to watch Christmas and light the tree! Our family always tries to come together each Thursday & Friday night to watch the Christmas movies, too! Wouldn't dream of missing them, but... sometimes, if we do... I always record and we still re-watch together. Our main tree is no longer up, but I have a smaller one I enjoy lighting up from time to time - which I love!
Happy Merry Mark the 25th! Keep on "shining" His Light!
I'm watching Christmas in Conway. I love that movie even though it's heart wrenching. Great story of loving someone so much you go that extra mile for that person. All the actors in this movie were great! I almost watched The Christmas Card again, but decided to wait. It's still my number 1 Christmas movie. Could watch it every day!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, Joyce... "Christmas in Conway" is most definitely one of those movies that affects our emotions and draws us in. Sometimes you just need a movie you know will touch your heart. It's so beautiful how passionate the husband is to grant his wife this last wish. Enjoy and don't forget the tissues!
DeleteI love that you keep this tradition, Net! I'm going to watch Four Christmases and a Wedding, since Arielle's new movie is coming this weekend!
ReplyDeleteMerry Mark the 25th!
xoxo, Emπ
Excellent movie choice, Em... especially with Arielle's movie, "A Brush with Love" premiering this Saturday night! Wonderful idea! :)
DeleteMerry "Mark the 25th" to you, too!
I love a Christmas movie any time of year.
ReplyDeleteI think I will re-watch Operation Christmas with Tricia Helfer and Marc Blucas.I always tear up when they show the big screen with the troops singing.
Enjoy your Christmas movies everyone and thanks for helping me made a "To View" list ... :)
You've definitely come to the right place - since you love Christmas movies all throughout the year - as we do!
Delete"Operation Christmas" is a wonderful choice... I, too, love that moment you mentioned from the film - such a moving scene!
Glad you enjoyed all the suggestions everyone made! Happy watching... Merry Mark the 25th!!! :)
Love your new tradition, Jim, and love that you've included your Mom!! Bless you!!
ReplyDeleteI love Josie Bissett! Do you know if there be any more Wedding March movies?
ReplyDeleteYes! They will start filming "Wedding March" #5 on April 8th for Hallmark's June Weddings! I love that series of movies, too!
DeleteI'm hoping for Wedding March 5: 2 Weddings
Delete1) Grace & her fiancΓ©
2) Mick & Olivia
I hope so, too... especially Mick & Olivia! (Jack Wagner & Josie Bissett)
DeleteI always hope that Mick & Olivia will elope and have it be all romantic and lovely and then have regret that all the families weren't with them and not tell anyone. Then plan and have a wonderful wedding with everyone at the inn.
DeleteI imagine that # 5 will be Grace's wedding and maybe that will be the interruption of Mick asking Olivia to marry him.
They have been keeping us waiting for a while but I must say all the movies have been good.
I also wonder about a wedding for Shane & Oliver ... hint hint Hallmark .... :)
My time is limited this evening, so I am going with one of my favorite animated classics, Mickey's Christmas Carol, and maybe a Disney Christmas short cartoon or two as well. (I love Pluto's Christmas Tree!)
ReplyDeleteMark 25
That is such a great choice, Mark... there is certainly nothing like Mickey Mouse... especially this beloved Christmas classic!
DeleteHope you had a Merry "Mark the 25th!" :)
Yeah, it's my least favorite part, too, when Santa is not-so-nice. Thank goodness he has that major change of heart.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Jim.... Clarice truly has a heart of gold! She sees something special in Rudolph before anyone else. If only we could all be more like her and always see the good in people!
