My thoughts on New Freeform 25 Days of Christmas Movie ‘No Sleep ‘Til Christmas’

image: Freeform

For those of you who visit here often, you know me, I'm always game for a new Christmas movie! It can be silly, sweet, romantic, heartwarming... as long as it is family-friendly, contains good morals and has an uplifting, positive story... I'm all in!

Well, once again, I must share that after reading a synopsis of Freeform's upcoming Christmas movie offering, I have decided I will not be tuning in.

The title of this new Freeform Christmas movie is ‘No Sleep ‘Til Christmas,’ which immediately had me imagining a child who was too excited to sleep before Christmas morning, or perhaps a child who was trying to stay up late at night in an effort to try and catch Santa in the act! Both possibilities sound plausible and cute with this title, but are way off the beaten path when it comes to the true story behind the title.

Here it is...
‘No Sleep ‘Til Christmas’ movie synopsis via TVline.com:
"Lizzie (Odette Annable, "Supergirl") is an event planner preparing for her wedding, who lies awake nightly while her fiancé rests peacefully. When a sleep-deprived incident causes her to run into Billy (Dave Annable, "Brothers and Sisters"), a bartender who is just as sleepless and frustrated as she is, they discover that they can only fall asleep while next to each other."

Freeform is well known for crossing the immoral line when creating their content, so I cannot say this particular story is surprising. I did want to make you all aware, and inform you that I will not be watching or sharing further details on this movie here.

Please let me know what you think in comments below.

Thank you for reading. Blessings, Net

  1. I had no idea. Thank you for the warning. This is not a channel our family usually watches, except at Christmas, since they play some of the old cartoons the kids still like. I will keep this in mind and be sure to skip this. As I read the synopsis my heart sunk. This is nowhere near the meaning or spirit of Christmas. I'm sad for them.

    1. My heart had that very same sinking feeling, Anna. I am so glad you felt the same. We sometimes watch for those old sweet Christmas cartoons, too, but the movies are becoming increasingly worse. I agree, it "is nowhere near the meaning or spirit of Christmas."

  2. I don’t watch ABC or Freeform anymore for this reason! The content is always questionable. I will say that when they changed the name to Freeform, the TV Rating went from PG to PG-13. This movie sounds like it fits the PG-13 rating. :(

    1. That is so true, Catherine. I'm sure they changed the ABC Family name so they could dump their family image. Unfortunately, they still seem to pull in good ratings among young people, which is very disappointing.

  3. Thanks for the heads up. Not my kind of movie either. It has been scratched off my list of movies to watch this year.

  4. This is just plain STUPID...BUT NOT SURPRISING for that channel. Not sure why they continue to do the 25 days of Christmas...it really doesn't fit their station anymore...too wholesome and Christian which that station is neither anymore, which is sad for them. Our family never watched that station because it has turned so worldly...only at Christmas time for those older special cartoons. Yet again this channel is a disappointment at Christmas with a new movie...instead of pity, we as Christians should pray for them! Thank you Net for letting us know. I trust your views for our family! God Bless what you doing!

    1. Oh, thank you, NK, so much for your thoughtful comment. I am honored that you and your family trust me and my site for movie recommendations. That truly means so much to me!

When it comes to creating new content, Freeform's movies are typically very worldly and then they play them along with classics we love, like The Santa Clause. We have to be fully aware at all times - that's why I wanted to inform all of you.

I appreciate your message very much! Blessings, Net

  9. Before it became Freeform it was I think ABC Family. I was disappointed when it changed, not the same. Don't watch it anymore.

    1. Yes, that is exactly right, Camilla. It has changed drastically over the years. Before it was ABC Family, it was Fox Family and the Family Channel. It was a very family friendly station then, airing movies like AuPair and The Christmas List. It's sad to see where they've taken it since.

  10. Thank you, Net! I have no intention of watching this movie either! I, too, stopped patronizing ABC when they changed and no longer check their listings. I'm more than happy with Hallmark movies than any other station. Bless you for the "heads up"!!
