A Charlie Brown Christmas

Here we are in the midst of the Christmas Season!

It's a wonderful time to feel that special Holiday spirit & joy! The true meaning! The birth of Jesus! And, hopefully not get caught up in the hustle & bustle, as Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts Gang do - as they are preparing to put on a performance of the Christmas Nativity Pageant!

As director, Charlie Brown feels the pressure of trying to please everyone in the play, (especially Lucy!) and is nearly at his wit's end when his best friend Linus wisely reminds him... what Christmas is all about!

Charlie Brown: Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?

Linus Van Pelt: Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about.

Lights, please.

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'"

That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.

  1. Yay! Thanks for the reminder, Net! I would've cried myself some serious Snoopy tears if I'd missed it. Just seeing Charlie Brown and the whole Peanuts Gang makes me feel all happy inside and with everything going on in the news (i'll leave it there) we seriously need us some happy vibes right about now.

Oh, and I kinda got my eye on that Itty Bitty Charlie Brown! He's stinkin cute and would fit perfectly in somebody's stocking! (Got that, Santa?)

    xoxo, Em

  2. To me this is the best Christmas cartoon by far! I am so grateful that Charles Schultz stood his ground when the network fought him for including Linus' reciting of Luke at the end of the show! We will unfortunately probably never see another cartoon such as this again!

And on a related note, while I love most of the Hallmark Christmas movies, I do wish there would be more with religious overtones. Even showing a simple nativity set as a Christmas decoration would be nice! Jesus is the reason for the season...

  3. Love me some Charlie Brown Christmas. One of my favorites. Love that Linus scene so much.

The "Christmastime is Here" song really moves me so much. It strangely makes me really happy and really sad at the same time. When the Holidays are just over and it's January 2nd, I can not listen to that song at all for at least a month. It destroys me.

  4. I also would like to see "12 Gifts of Christmas" on dvd. One of my favorite movies. I liked My Christmas Love and Christmas in Homestead from last year. They were 2 of my favorites. Also, liked Sleigh Bells Ring and Love Always, Santa. I'd like to see these and so many more on dvd. Wanted to say thanks Net for all the effort and time you put in to making this wonderful site for all of us to enjoy. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas. RG
