Originally, "Olaf's Frozen Adventure" had a limited theatrical run in front of Disney Pixar's hit feature "Coco," but now it will premiere on ABC!
SEE UPDATE BELOW...
July, 2017:
All FROZEN fans had been anticipating "Olaf's Frozen Adventure," a new "Short" from Disney Pixar's FROZEN franchise to air this upcoming 2017 Holiday Season on TV - on the ABC network. Well, I just received some news from a follower of my site, David, who works at a movie theater and he shared that he has been seeing preview trailers for this short to air in theaters, instead of on TV, as we had expected and previously been told in press releases last year.
On the Wikipedia web-site for Olaf's Frozen Adventure it shares instead of "Olaf's Frozen Adventure" airing on ABC, it will be released as a 3D theatrical short in front of Disney·Pixar's new movie Coco - for a limited time, with voices: Josh Gad, Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Jonathan Groff reprising their roles from the original 2013 film, Frozen. The release date for the Olaf animated short in theaters is November 22, 2017 and will include four new original songs!
"If you want to build a Snowman..." please stay tuned for more updates. "Olaf's Frozen Adventure" may air still at some point in the future on ABC!
UPDATE!!! December, 2017:
The news all "Frozen" fans will love to hear... the animated cartoon "Olaf's Frozen Adventure" will, indeed, be airing on ABC this Christmas Season, after all!
Here's the story, via ABC: "The half-hour special features Olaf and Sven as they team up on a merry mission and Anna and Elsa are preparing to host a celebration for all of Arendelle. The sisters realize they don't have any family traditions of their own, so Olaf sets out to save the day."

Thursday December 14, 2017
at 8pm/7c. on ABC!
**********
It will air as a 22 minute "short" in theaters -- all Pixar movies have them, but this one will be longer than most -- but is still planned as an ABC TV special, as well. Theatrical release makes it Oscar eligible in the animated short category, and I'm sure they're hoping it will also drive Frozen fans to see Coco.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I haven't seen any news, yet, on the Olaf special airing this Christmas season on the ABC network. I'm sure it will at some point, as I said above, but I don't know, yet, if it will be this year. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew of this update - and we can all keep a lookout for further showings!
