And then... there were 3! As we get closer to Christmas, unfortunately, there are a lot less NEW Christmas movies, except (thankfully!) for Hallmark! Is it fitting that Hallmark stands alone now - as the only network left to bring us New Christmas Movies, since they were the first to start playing them back in October!

This year in 2016, there were over 40 new Christmas titles during the Holiday season, from November to December! I must admit, I have yet to see them all, but I will do my best to catch a few more before Christmas! Most definitely, I will be enjoying many of them still after Christmas (that I have recorded!), and possibly... well into the New Year!!!

Hope you enjoy all the movies... old & new!!!

God Bless Us, Everyone... and ALL Who Visit Here!!!

Merry Christmas Dear Movie Friends!!! Net

I wonder if Hallmark will ever movie some of the HMM movies over to the main channel? I know that there are a lot of people who don't get HMM and they're missing out on what I think are the significantly better movies this season - better storylines, production values, big-name actors, etc.

For the people who don't get HMM, you should look for some of the movies they aired this year on DVD in 2017.

The main Hallmark Channel's movies haven't been great this season. Almost every single movie on the main channel this season has been a take on the "corporate female only focused on her career and doesn't have time for a relationship" theme.

    1. That would be awesome, Susan, and they have done a few before... but it doesn't happen very often. Movies, like "Meddling Mom," "Seven Year Hitch," and "Strawberry Summer" were all original to HMM, but they also received a special viewing on the Hallmark Channel. It has been awhile, though, since this has happened. Probably, the absolute latest was when the first Aurora movie starring Candace Cameron Bure aired on both networks at the same time. "A Heavenly Christmas" also aired in simulcast, but it has remained on the Hallmark Channel, so far.

Hallmark is advertising the limited commercial Christmas Movie showing on Christmas Day... and they show both "Journey Back to Christmas" and "A Nutcracker Christmas" in the promo, but oddly, neither will be showing during this special event - since both have been moved to HMM, following their premieres.

I think if they would have had all (or even some!) of the new HMM Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel Christmas Day - that would have been an even greater gift to Hallmark fans - and a great promotion of their other network!!! Just a thought!

Thank you for commenting, Susan!!! Blessings & Merry Christmas to You!!! Net

    2. I agree with you Susan. The movies on HMM have been so good this season, even back in October with The Irresistible Blueberry Farm. I absolutely loved Hearts of Christmas, Finding Father Christmas, and A Christmas to Remember. Another movie I love from HMM is Just the Way you Are with Candice Cameron Bure. Net, I love Strawberry Summer too and I would love them to play it on Hallmark. I hope HMM will have more new movies this year and the HM will have better quality movies. I kind of feel they just want to put out a lot of movies, but they lack substance. That being said, I have enjoyed this years Christmas movies on Hallmark, can say a few of them are awesome, many of them are good enough to watch again, but the movies on HMM will get watched MANY MANY more times by me on my DVR!!!!!!

Net - You said under another post that you haven't been able to watch all of the new Christmas movies yet (understandably -- there are so many, across several channels).

Just out of curiosity, which ones have you been able to watch? I think you said you saw "A Heavenly Christmas," and I am guessing you must have watched "Journey Back to Christmas" too?

I have watched every single one of the new Hallmark and HMM movies, from start to finish, but I lost a bit of "Hearts of Christmas" somewhere in the middle and have to try to catch it again.

I also watched "Heaven Sent" on Lifetime, "Holiday Joy" on Freeform, "Married By Christmas" on UP, and "Christmas With the Andersons" and "A Firehouse Christmas" on ION. Everything else that's new from UP or ION is either sitting on the DVR, waiting to be watched, or I wasn't able to record it (such as "A Christmas in Vermont," which may not be repeated again).

    1. With all the busyness of Christmas activities... family, and well, everything - I can't tell you how grateful I am to record so many of the movies and catch them later on. I'm actually heading off to do a little more last minute shopping... Santa needs some stocking stuffer ideas!!!

As for the Christmas movies, I've seen most of Hallmark, especially on the Hallmark Channel, including "A Heavenly Christmas" and "Journey Back to Christmas"
and I'm definitely still catching up (no pun intended) on UP and ION! Plus, I did see some of "Heaven Sent" on Lifetime, if that counts, but not all.

If only there was more time? Could Santa bottle some of that up for us this Christmas? If only!!! Happy Continued Christmas Movie Watching!!!

Oh, and by the way... "A Christmas in Vermont" repeats Christmas Eve at 7pm (EST).

      Merry Christmas to You, Sherry!!!

  4. Looking forward to all of these, especially "A Christmas to Remember," but part of me doesn't want to watch them because I'm so not ready for the Christmas movies to end! How can it be only one week till Christmas already?! I don't want to say goodbye to my favorite time of year yet. But at least with Hallmark we get to look forward to lots of new movies all year long. I'm glad we have the Winterfest movies coming right after Christmas. I'm especially looking forward to the one with Andrew Walker.

    1. I know just what you mean, Amy! I want to hold on to these special "Days before Christmas" as long as I can! We have snow in our area today, roads aren't great, and most churches are closed. I'm enjoying living in a snow globe (feels so Christmassy!) and hoping we can keep this snow this week and have a White Christmas!

Here at "It's a Wonderful Movie", I promise you... we won't be saying goodbye to Christmas... instead, we will reminisce and look forward to the next Christmas season - all throughout year - when we happen to get any Christmas related news!!!

Blessings & Merry Christmas to You!!! Net

*I'm so glad to have Winterfest, too!

    2. Ooh, I'm glad you get to enjoy snow! Hoping with you that it remains for a white Christmas! I live in Western Washington where snow is rare (except in the mountains). One year we had record snowfall and were blessed with a white Christmas, but that has only happened once out of the 12 years I've lived here. I just have to live vicariously through Christmas movies.

    1. Exactly! 3 is a great number of new Christmas Movies! We are all thankful for the Hallmark Channel - for giving us something warm and inviting to look forward to - throughout the entire Holiday Season! There are such a gift to all of us viewers who enjoy family movies, and from everything I've heard, their ratings have been spectacular, so that is positive news for next year!!!

  7. Would really like to see more of the old movies like Miracle on 34th Street. The new movies don't have much to hold ones interest. Does anyone else miss the old movies. Thanks

"My Christmas Love" was delightful! This one is a winner. Right now, "My Christmas Love" and "Christmas List" are leading the pack in terms of which new movies I have enjoyed the most this holiday season.

I could go into all of the reasons I enjoyed this movie, but I will just focus on one: Meredith Hagner. She is like a young Meg Ryan, or a young Goldie Hawn.

I will admit that, for some reason that I can't explain, last year's Lifetime movie, "A Gift Wrapped Christmas," did not impress me quite as much as it impressed other people. I liked it in general, but not as much as everyone else seemed to like it. It wasn't one that I felt I needed to watch again this year, though I will watch it again next year. Something was missing for me, and I can't even explain what or why.

So, when I first discovered "My Christmas Love" as it was being filmed in Utah (and had the title of "Christmas Expectations" and later "12 Days"), and saw that Meredith was the star... I kind of felt so-so about it. I wasn't sure if that would be good or bad. But I liked the story -- about receiving the gifts based on the famous Christmas song -- and so that alone had me looking forward to it. (I am the sort of person who, at one point in life, would have been sending those 12 days of gifts to people too, if I'd had the means and inspiration.)

I liked Meredith Hagner much more in this movie than I did in the Lifetime movie. She is adorable, of course, but she also has good sense of comedic timing (like Ashley Williams, Paul Campbell, Autumn Reeser and several others). It seems to come naturally. I suspected that she was probably improvising in certain scenes. It didn't hurt that the writing was quite good in parts, and she had good material to work with.

The supporting cast was effective as well -- Gregory Harrison is always a bonus in any movie. I would have preferred Gregory's character to get together with someone more along the lines of maybe Brenda Strong, but that was one little part of the movie that I can overlook.

Otherwise, it is a gem! I have to think that Hallmark will be offering Meredith more roles after this one. Whether or not she accepts them is another story. But she has the chops to be a recurring rom-com fan favorite.

  9. A Christmas to Remember was wonderful, did anyone notice it was filmed at the Snow Valley Lodge? I watched Let It Snow right after and I think it is the same place. I recognized the spiral staircase. So nice to see the Snow Valley Lodge's family Christmas is still happening :)

I noticed many of the Christmas DVDs are also at a discounted price at Amazon, and if they are Prime, I'm sure Santa can get them just in time for those stockings!
