PLOT:

via BYU: In late nineteenth-century Russia, Martin Avdeitch is a humble shoemaker whose life has been characterized by grief. But when Martin meets kindhearted missionaries, he finds the courage to look outside himself and trust in the goodness of God. This BYUtv original holiday special is based on Leo Tolstoy's short story, "Martin the Cobbler," and stars John Rhys-Davies.

  1. Thank you for talking about "Winter Thaw" on your blog. I just watched this movie and it is, so far, my favorite made-for-TV Christmas movie this year! I liked how this unique and creative story was different from what the other networks were offering. Could "Winter Thaw" be eligible for a nomination for next year's "It's a Wonderful Movie" awards? I hope so, especially since BYU-TV has never been represented in any of the award polls. If BYU-TV continues to make good movies with good stories, this could be the start of a beautiful tradition.

  6. I've been looking for this movie to air this season but I haven't seen it. This is my favorite movie and look forward to seeing, but very disappointed it hasn't aired in 2018.
