Like that there is a mystery element!

I love the story. Something new and different from anything I've seen. Really looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteUmmmm, this looooooks cute, but I'm also confused? How in the world did she get to 2016? Where is her husband? I don't get it. I love Candace and I'll definitely be watching but this storyline is baffling!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI went to the Hallmark Channel's web site and it gives you the description. It happens during the Christmas comet and she hits her head and wakes up in 2016. You see the comet in the poster.

Time travel?
ReplyDeleteDoes Candace have a love interest in this? If so, who is he?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question! I need to look up the IMDB to see who her husband is!

Certainly sounds different and I really don't know what to make or expect of this.
ReplyDeleteI think most people will watch because they are curious. Candace usually wheels out the standard Rom-Com, Sappy, Happy Christmas movie, but this one has some interesting element that makes it unique. Will we like it? Well, that is yet to be seen. Guess we need to take Haley's Comet to the future to find out!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm awfully curious as to who Candace's love interest is - in this, too!!! Is it somehow Oliver Hudson??? Or, wild idea, is Tom Skerritt her husband - in the future??? Just guessing!!!
My completely random guess (because I really have no clue) is that there are a few ways this story could go...
ReplyDeleteIn one scenario, Candace ends up in the future, temporarily distracted by handsome Oliver Hudson, but by the end of the movie she is back in 1945, and her husband (who went missing) has returned to her.
If that occurs, I think that 2016 Candace will help steer Oliver Hudson and Brooke Nevin together (assuming they're not playing siblings or family of some sort, of course! Lol). We would probably see that Brooke has secretly been in love with Oliver's character all along, and while he is temporarily captivated by Candace, Candace will do something to help him see that Brooke loves him before Candace heads back to 1945 to greet her long-lost husband.
The other/second scenario could be that someone in 2016 is a future relative/descendant of Candace. Candace's character wants to stay in 2016, but then learns that if she doesn't go back to 1945 and start a family with her long-lost husband, somehow the family that she has just been living with in 2016 will never exist.
OR... maybe being in 2016 will somehow help Candace figure out what happened to her husband in 1945. For example, maybe we will learn that Tom Skerritt is a descendant of her husband, and he will talk of what happened to his grandfather or great-grandfather in the war, giving Candace a clue of how to find her husband when she returns to 1945.
The first was basically right.
DeleteYour second scenario sounds the likely one.
ReplyDeleteI would say it's odds on that someone will be a descendant of hers.
I wonder if she's talking to her 'future self' in that one picture of the elderly lady in the wheelchair?
ReplyDeleteMisty
No that's the 2016 version of her 1945 friend
DeleteThis is dotty her friend who Jake didn't no yet at the end when photos were developed he took the one of dotty on her engagement day an said look mum it's Nan an pop I'm confused
DeleteThe nurse that got engaged was Julia not Dottie.
DeleteThis sounds very intriguing and I am looking forward to it. I like it when HM incorporates a bit of mystery and Christmas magic into their movies instead of the usual scenario of boy meets girl, girl hates boy, then they end up in love. Not that I don't like that (I do) but a change of pace is good, and this sounds like it will definitely be a change! Enjoy the movie as well as the remainder of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend everyone!
ReplyDeleteWhat town and state does this movie take place in?
ReplyDeleteI watched the movie untill she meets the old man and then what happens?
ReplyDeleteHaven't had a chance to watch, yet, DaisyKatz, but I'm happy to hear many positive reviews of "Journey Back to Christmas."
DeleteIf anyone else shares plot details here - please write SPOILER at the beginning of your comment!!! Thank you!!! :)
This is REALLY good; head and shoulders above the average (and too often formulaic) Christmas fare.
ReplyDeleteWow! The best Christmas movie since, "It's A Wonderful Life". Candace Cameron Bure, deserves to win an Emmy for her performance.

DeleteSo happy to hear how much you all loved this movie!!! Thank you for sharing!!! Candace has always been a joy to watch!!! If her schedule can accommodate, I'm sure she'll be back next year!!! :)
DeleteI noticed that it doesn't appear as if this movie will run on the Hallmark Channel again this year, only HMM. Is that so? I really hope not. :( My friends and I were looking forward to watching it but were unable to when it premiered, and none of us get HMM.
ReplyDeleteFavorite scene with Hanna - Realizing why she was sent to 2016.
ReplyDeleteFavorite scene with Jake - Giving away his fries.
Favorite scene with Hanna and Jake together - Saying Goodbye.
Is this movie not being repeated? I can only find it on HMM, which I do not get.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. All future showings are to be on HMM. I'm sorry you don't have this channel - they also play wonderful Christmas movies, old and new.
DeleteIs this movie for sale? I saw it on TV and loved it!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is coming to DVD January 2, 2018! I will share a link to Amazon- as soon as they make it available for pre-order!
DeleteGreat news, Net! Are you aware of any other Hallmark Christmas movies being released on dvd in 2018?
DeleteI love this movie but I always feel cheated out of a proper ending to this movie. It leaves so many questions, what happened when she got back, did she just wake up in that same shed, does she remember she went to 2016, and her car is still in the ditch after 2 days? I just wish they would have put a little bit more of when she got back. You just feel like they skip a big part in there between her going back and what happened at the end.
ReplyDeleteSharon, Those are wonderful questions. You might enjoy the Journey Back to Christmas book, which is completely based on the Hallmark Channel Original Movie and gives more to the story! I haven't read it, myself, but there are lots of reviews on Amazon, if you're interested!
DeleteThank you for your question! Hope this answer is helpful for you.
Blessings, Net
Just rewatched this. It's tied with Switched for Christmas as the best Hallmark Christmas movie that Candace made! -Maria
