The movie 'It's a Wonderful Wife'
starring Nikki DeLoach and Andrew Walker
is now titled 'A Dream Of Christmas.'

See the list of Hallmark Channel Christmas Movies for more details on these movies! *Thank you Shirley S. and Kristina for sharing this updated news!

The question is... what do you all think of these new titles?

The last title changed to a whole new holiday. I wonder what the thought behind that was - especially since it won't be premiering until after Christmas, on New Years Day! Interesting!?!?

Also, in re-searching.... I discovered Dylan Neal's co-star in 'Looks Like Christmas' will be actress Anne Heche! I would love to know what you all think of these new titles. Please share your thoughts in the comments below!

Okay, maybe Hallmark had to change the "Rose Parade New Year" title to something else because of trademark/copyright/patent issues with the "Rose Parade" name. I have no idea -- just a guess.

But couldn't they have found a new title that included "New Year" in it? Why is it "A Rose for Christmas" when the movie is supposedly more New Year-oriented, and it airs on New Year's Day? Lol.

Plus... now we have "My Christmas Love," "My Christmas Dream" and "A Dream of Christmas." Yeah... no one will get confused by those similar titles at all. ;) ;) ;)

    1. People are gonna skip over the some of the movies for having titles to similar to movies they believe they've already seen

Yes, exactly, Anonymous! That's what I was thinking too. A lot of viewers (the ones who maybe don't follow a site like this one) don't even really know how many new movies there are (no matter how many times Hallmark announces it). A lot of them only seem to see a portion of the movies every year, and they miss some of the other ones.

If the average, casual viewer is just kind of skimming down the schedule and looking at the titles, they will see some titles that are similar and not really notice much of a difference.

Also, a lot of people just watch the movies and they don't even pay attention to the titles, let alone remember them. So if they were to watch "My Christmas Dream" in November, then when "A Dream of Christmas" premieres in December they could remember the "dream" part of the title and assume they already saw the movie.

    3. Its a Wonderful Wife couldn't stay a title. They were possibly opening themselves to potential lawsuit naming a Christmas movie something so similar to Its Wonderful Life. Same with the Rose Parade New Year however for that one instead of putting Christmas in the titled they could've title the movie The New Year's Parade or something similar.

Even people who follow this site might get My Christmas Dream and A Dream For Christmas mixed up. Christmas is the time when every channel that shows Christmas movies gets alot of viewers passing through that they wouldn't normally get. Not a good time to be titling movies similarly.

  4. Wow, Mira Sorvino is going to star in a Hallmark Movie? I know she was in some Lifetime one, but I didn't care for it.

I LOVE the Dean Cain/Melissa Hart one! It sounds so funny! I cannot wait to see that one!

  5. I'm glad they changed the name of "A Christmas Carol". I was really excited to see that another version of this wonderful tale was going to happen, only to be disappointed when I saw the plot line. I love all Christmas movies, of course, but the title was confusing on this one.

  6. Personally, the film title isn't that important to me - the synopsis is the main thing which will instantly spark my interest or not.

However I've found with Hallmark not to "judge a book by its cover" as often ones which don't sound particularly appealing can turn out to be among my favourites such as Angels And Ornaments.

I usually end up watching them all anyway!

I'm delighted to see Andrew Walker return in A Dream Of Christmas as he's been a favourite of mine since he surfaced in A Bride For Christmas although I was slightly disappointed in Dashing Through The Snow although he played his role well.

Paul Greene has quickly become a favourite in the short time he's become a Hallmark regular and with Lacey Chabert one of my most liked actresses I'm really excited about A Wish For Christmas - I just hope I'm not expecting too much. Casting is very important and while you may rate a couple of actors sometimes the chemistry between them just doesn't work out.

Many of the stars just seem to do two movies for Hallmark but I just love Lucas Bryant to bits!! so I'm hoping now that his Haven series is over he might become a regular!

For some strange reason the one which really took my fancy this year was A Curveball Christmas but despite Hallmark including it in it's summer preview and advising it had gone into producrion it has vanished into thin air but there's plenty there to enjoy!

  7. Great comments! I for one am not crazy about these last minute title changes. I think we all know it's Countdown to Christmas, therefore, if Christmas is not in the title, I don't think it matters to us loyal fans :) Anonymous--I have the same question about another movie--I thought I saw advertised "Joy to the World" staring Brook Shields, who I think is becoming a Hallmark fan favorite, starting as a domestic diva on TV but is hopeless in the kitchen in real life. Sounds a like Christmas in CT with Barbara Stanwyck, but unless I am missing something, I'm not seeing it.

Also, re chemistry. so many great Hallmark stars out there, but I don't think they all jibe with eachother. Love Paul Green and Danica McKellar together, and they should be recast as Lacey C. and Brennan Elliott. Also, I'm wondering where Jesse Hutch of Cedar Cove and Let is Snow and Harvest Moon has been? Loved him too!

      Barbara --

Joy to the World, A Prince for Christmas, A Family for Christmas and Curveball Christmas were all announced by Hallmark as being movies in this year's Christmas line-up.

A Family for Christmas is still in development and has been pushed to 2017. The other 3 titles I listed have seemingly disappeared into thin air. That means that they must have gotten stuck in development and couldn't move forward for some reason (it could be any number of reasons).

It is possible that Hallmark could tweak the scripts and make them non-Christmas movies... maybe themed to some other season. That's what happened with "A Worthwhile Life" -- it was supposed to be a Christmas movie and is now either going to be a Countdown to Valentine's Day movie or a Winterfest movie.

Jesse Hutch has been busy working on things all year -- he recently made another movie with Alan Thicke, tentatively called "Otherwise Engaged," and I am not sure where that will end up or what it will ultimately be called.

But I am very surprised that, out of all of the movies that Hallmark has put out this year -- not just for Christmas, but all of them -- Jesse was not in a single one! I have to imagine that they asked him to be in something, but he either turned it down because he didn't want to do it, or he wasn't available to do it.

  8. Sherry, many thanks for that info and apologies that I did not reply sooner, as I just saw this! I hope you enjoyed Countdown to Christmas 2016. I must admit I was disappointed with many of them and actually much more enjoyed the movies on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, especially Love Always,Santa; Finding Father Christmas (which made me want to read the book which I greatly enjoyed) and Operation Christmas.

I am wondering if there is some way to get in touch with the Hallmark Channel re their movies, as I thought there were too many similar themes this year--stressed out career woman discovering a small town and then her love for Christmas. I also think they should seriously consider sequels for some of their earlier movies such as Let it Snow, Royal Christmas and Crown for Christmas. I've looked on the website, but couldn't find anything.

Again, Sherry, many thanks for your comments and I'm looking forward to Winterfest, as the movies look promising.

Also, Net, thanks so much for all you do with this website. It was a very happy discovery for me in 2016! All the best for a Happy and Healthy 2017!!

    1. Barbara, I am so happy you found It's a Wonderful Movie in 2016! Just curious, do you recall how you found it?

You have certainly been a wonderful addition with all the comments you have contributed to the site. I always enjoy hearing everyone's interests and perspectives on all the movies!

As you mentioned, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries certainly did have some wonderful offerings of Christmas movies this year, while the Hallmark Channel gave carefree, romantic comedies with their line-up. I enjoyed various ones from both stations, but like you, I tend to enjoy a story best, that has some deeper meaning. Since HMM had it's best year ever at Christmas, I wouldn't be surprised if they offered even more new original Christmas movies (I was going to say next year!) this year! Let's hope!

Until then, I'm glad you're here, Barbara, and I hope you'll join us in discussing Winterfest, and so on and on...

Blessings to You and Happy New Year!!! Net

    2. Strangely I posted a very similar message a little while back.

I have felt in the past couple of years Hallmark have been sacrificing quality for quantity and was looking forward with some trepidation to this year's offerings.

Personally I felt that 19 new Christmas Movies on the main channel was overkill - 14 would be plenty or at least 16 but it would appear from what has been said that there are going to be even MORE this year (2017).

I have to agree that Hallmark Movies & Mysteries seem to have set a higher standard. Finding Father Christmas in particular was an enthralling Movie.

The "too many similar themes" angle was something in particular that bugged me but as Sherry in California said it was probably more important how they were presented.

Despite my misgivings I have to say that although there were very few standouts on the main channel the 2016 Christmas Movies were overall I felt actually of a higher standard than the last couple of years and in most part that was due to careful casting.

The Jessica Lowndes/ Daniel Lissing pairing in A December Bride was awesome and I was personally quite shocked when one poster commented there was no chemistry between them!

Christmas Cookies could have been one of those tired old themes but the Jill Wagner and Wes Brown combination just lifted the whole film, only being let down by a rather sloppy ending.

Alicia Witt has been rather unfortunate in the past in always seeming to be cast in professional career woman roles with few redeeming features which made the character hard to like but this year she was cast far more sympathetically and Christmas List was probably her best film yet for Hallmark.

I have still to see several of the 2016 Christmas offerings including the much talked about My Christmas Love but it has I think been a successful season.

Could I also just thank Net. for all the hard work which goes into this site -it's really awesome and also Sherry in California who takes the time to answer queries and explain tings to those "uninitiated" among us i.e. me!

I'm still trying to find my way around the site.

Is there any general section where say posters can post their list of their favourite 2016 titles or where would you discuss this?

Wishing everyone here a happy 2017.
