Ahem. (...Shamelessly patting myself on the back here....)

Might I remind the naysayers on this site (who doubted or disagreed with me) that I insisted that there would be a brand new movie on the starting weekend of the Countdown to Christmas.

I knew that there was no way Hallmark would wait a full 7 days into the Countdown to premiere the first brand new movie. That would be a bad way to kick off their biggest event of the year.

Technically, they can get away with saying that "A Perfect Christmas" is a new movie because it only sneak previewed in July, but it would be a bit anticlimactic to start the Countdown with that movie.

So, when I initially saw that "A Perfect Christmas" and "Family for Christmas" were scheduled for the starting weekend, I knew that wasn't right. I knew that Hallmark would put at least one brand new movie into the starting weekend, because they always do.

    And they did. ;) ;)

This makes me wonder if Hallmark is now actually planning to add in a 20th new movie (perhaps a Chesapeake Shores Christmas special?). I had a feeling that if they 'found' a new movie to add in, they would move something to the starting weekend, and Lacey's new movie fits perfectly as the kickoff movie to the event.

Congrats should also go to Susan in Des Moine who, all the way back on August 4th, correctly predicted that the Lacey Chabert movie would indeed be the first new movie to air on the Premiere Movie Weekend -

There seemed to be naysayers who questioned and doubted her but in the end, she was right. Well done, Susan!

The Hallmark press release showed Lacey's movie as the first brand new movie. We all saw that. That was printed in their media. That wasn't a guess or prediction.

But you misunderstood my comments. The doubt was not in Lacey's movie being the opening movie. The doubt was in the first new movie of the season being shown on November 5th. THAT was the issue, and that 11/5 movie was originally supposed to be Lacey's movie.

I said (in more than one comment on this site) that Hallmark always shows a new movie on the opening weekend, and that I didn't think they would wait a full 7-day week to show the first brand new movie. That would be a mistake. They could technically get away with showing "A Perfect Christmas" and claiming it to be a new movie, as it only aired once in July, but it is no longer 100% new, so it didn't make sense for the debut weekend (a Saturday, no less) of the Countdown to Christmas.

I believe I said somewhere on this site, in at least one of my comments, that they could very well move Lacey's movie to the kickoff weekend. (And I said that to Net behind the scenes as well.)

Lacey's movie being the first movie was not my issue. On the contrary - I think that her movie is a good choice to start the Countdown. My issue was always that they would not show the first brand new movie a full week into the Countdown. I thought that 11/5 was going to be a bad idea for the first brand new movie.

And, as it turns out, Hallmark came to their senses and moved Lacey's movie to 10/29. Everybody wins!
