Movie Review:
(Please Note: I was careful not to ruin the mystery, but my review may contain a few spoilers.)
The third movie in the "Gourmet Detective" series, "Death Al Dente: A Gourmet Detective Mystery" gives us another delicious mystery to solve! There's a number of potential suspects, right from the start, who look rather guilty.
(The first film in the series is the original pilot movie:
"The Gourmet Detective"
and the second film is
"The Gourmet Detective: A Healthy Place to Die".)

"The Gourmet Detective: A Healthy Place to Die".)
When Henry's old friend, Leo, a former chef who now runs a new restaurant in town, ends up being murdered, things suddenly don't add up. Henry Ross (Dylan Neal) and Detective Maggie Price (Brooke Burns) had just had dinner with Leo and his wife Claudia the night before, when they shared news on a recent break-in. The restaurant, which Leo and Claudia live above, had been recently broken into, but nothing of value was taken. This, information, of course, makes Henry and Detective Price quite suspicious that the robber was seeking more than money.
Is it a robbery gone bad or murder? Steve, Maggie's old college boyfriend, who heads up the department on break-ins, decides it would be best for him to team up with them - to solve this case, and maybe get closer to Maggie in the process. It's obvious Henry is quite jealous of Steve, while Detective Maggie Price doesn't seem to mind the extra attention, until the tables are turned. An old girlfriend of Henry's, who he seems rather chummy with, suddenly becomes their prime suspect. Henry defends her, while Maggie keeps pointing her way. Jealousy once again is more evident that who did this crime.
You won't want to miss it, as things finally 'heat up' between Henry and Maggie (in a very sweet way) - and not in the kitchen! In fact, it is at a very crucial time in the investigation - that ultimately puts both of their lives in danger.
Whodunit? You'll have to watch "Death Al Dente: A Gourmet Detective Mystery" to uncover the hidden clues. It's a recipe for a great mystery!
See or Skip:
See, if you enjoy Mysteries! Please remember, this is a Murder Mystery - so this is not suitable for young viewers.

I really like the Gourmet Detective movies, but I have a feeling this might be the last one. HMM doesn't seem to be pushing them anymore.
ReplyDeleteJennifer -- I posted about this a little earlier but I think the comment got lost in cyberspace.
DeleteAnyway, I just wanted to say that I agree -- it is looking like this might be the last installment for Gourmet Detective. Dylan Neal has indicated that it is likely going to be the last one, unless the ratings (from Nielsen families) are stellar or Hallmark is somehow persuaded to continue the series.
Great review, Net! Brooke looks as beautiful as she did in The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. I'll be watching when it premieres. Hope it's not the last.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Net! I think Hallmark got it right pairing these two together....what a stately duo! I'll be tuning in.

DeleteThe new movie 'Death Al Dente: A Gourmet Detective Mystery' is premiering Sunday night, October 9th at 9pm/8c.
Hope you can watch or record the ones you want to see!!! :)
Excellent movies, and both characters that Dylan Neal and Brooke Burns play have amazing chemistry. Don't end them.
ReplyDeleteSo agree, Debbie! Gourmet Detective is such a great mystery movie series! Would love to hear they are continuing them and Signed Sealed Delivered!!! :)
DeleteBlessings! Net
I second that! I love their chemistry and the depth of each character is absolutely amazing! Such a great series, and this from someone who has been VERY disappointed with Hallmark's mysteries. But what can I say, I love this mystery series! And it is even making me reconsider Hallmark's other mysteries. :) I agree Debbie, "Don't end them"!!!
DeleteThe restaurant in this movie looked a lot like the bookstore in the “Karen Kingsbury’s The Bridge” movies. Were all three movies filmed in the same location?
ReplyDeleteTerrific movie! I love the strong characters! Brooke Burns and Dylan Neal are amazing actors! It's great to see the female lead as a detective; she kicks some serious butt and has the law backing her! Fantastic chemistry between the two leads! And a perfect crime mystery! (Plus there is a GREAT surprise towards the end....one that many of us have been waiting for!) This movie is extra fun because of the great humor! 10 Stars!
