via INSP:
"3 Men. 3 Generations. 3 Days in the Wilderness…

Seeking to heal a strained father-son relationship, basketball coach Charlie Fitzpatrick takes his son, Evan and grandson, Markie, to a rustic cabin to bond. Over three hilarious and soul-searching days, the men learn what it means to be a father, a son, a grandfather."

More via INSP:
"Charlie Fitzpatrick is the most successful high school basketball coach in Georgia history. While many of his players think of him as a father, his relationship with his own “bookworm” son, Evan, is strained.

With the help of his wife, Laura and Evan’s wife, Heather, Charlie determines the best way to connect and bond is to take his son and grandson, Markie, who has just announced he’s dropping out of college to tour with his folk band, to a rustic mountain cabin for a weekend retreat. Only this cabin is the same site where he took his many winning teams to test their mettle over a grueling military-style obstacle course, the same one Evan, as a student never got the chance to complete. This is Charlie’s idea of fun, Evan’s idea of a nightmare, and Markie’s idea of—well he’s young and idealistic; he’s just going with the flow.

Over the course of three days, through hilarious moments, soul-searching moments and one experience that frightens them all to the core, the men discover what it means to be a father, a son, a grandfather, how deeply their lives are entwined with each other—and just how similar they really are."

Movie Review:

Heritage Falls is a family adventure, that leads to new heights!

When 3 Generations spend 4 Nights in the Woods with 3 opposing views, 1 Cabin, 1 Bed, 1 wall to climb, and 1 Snake... what could possibly go… right?

The first generation: Charlie Fitzpatrick – Father, Grandfather, recently retired Coach. It’s obvious from the start, being a Basketball Coach has been his entire life. Why retire now?

The second generation: Charles “Evan” Fitzpatrick Jr. – 44 year old Son, Father, Owner of a book store. Evan, (who hates being called Jr.) always loved books, never measured up to his father’s athletic image. Why take this trip to the woods now?

The third generation: Mark “Markie” Fitzpatrick – Son, Grandson. 19 year old College Student. Markie wants to drop out of college, and become a musician, while his father insists he has to stay in school.

Is there any common ground to be found when these three pack up their bags and head to the woods on a hike up to Heritage Falls? A rough journey may be in store along the way for these three generations, who are at odds most of the trip.

Will 4 nights in the woods finally lead them to discover each other’s hearts and minds, any better? At times, yes, but then it seems something always divides them, again. Many past hurts resurface, as time doesn’t heal all wounds, but perhaps eventually understanding each other and accepting each other’s unique gifts and talents does.

Along the adventure, each begins to open up. Evan wants to know why, after all these years his father has taken interest in him. Heritage Falls was the sacred place he had always taken “his team.” The same basketball team Evan was made to join, then cut from, by his own father.

During a moment when they begin to open up, Charles (the coach) reveals his reason for retiring, which only brings more pain to his son, Evan, who seems to be trying very hard (as he has all his life) to please and bond with his father.

In the end, can peace be found at Heritage Falls? Will Charles and Evan finally reach new heights and understand one another? With encouragement from their spouses, and Evan’s mother, there may be hope, but will Markie defy his father, and decide to drop out of school to go out on the road and join his band? It’s a journey you will have to watch to see!

There’s an especially beautiful moment at the end, again another gesture from Evan, in his hopes to bond with his father… which is a lesson for all men, whether they are the father or the son- keep trying, keep loving, keep reaching out!!!

  1. Looking forward to this! My family has enjoyed INSP's original movies so far. They tend to have more of a Christian tone than Hallmark which I like.

    1. Yes, INSP is a faith-based channel, so their movies are definitely going to reflect that. I, too, have enjoyed all of their family films. I'm so glad to hear your family has, too!

  2. Our family enjoyed Savannah Sunrise this summer. I even called my Mother-n-law to tell her to watch. She liked it, but thankfully hasn't asked about any road trips. I will definitely mark the calendar for this new one. My husband and teenage son just might watch this one with me.

  3. I like the overall look of this one with strong male roles. I'm sick of movies or TV shows where the father is treated like a know nothing idiot.

Net -- Rumor has it that another Christmas movie is going to be filmed in the same city in Georgia where "Christmas in the Smokies" (for INSP) was filmed last year.

I wonder if it's another INSP movie?

    1. You may have already heard this news, too, but just in case... the Hallmark movie "Shooting Christmas" with Taylor Cole is actually filming where "Christmas in the Smokies" filmed in Dahlonega, Georgia.

Guess there are a lot of productions going on in Canada right now (mostly Christmas!) and they needed another location to shoot - "Shooting Christmas"!

      Here's an article on it:

But, who knows, INSP may shoot another Christmas movie there, too! Especially since it's all beautifully decorated for Christmas!!! :)

    1. Oh my goodness, you are so right! "Savannah Sunrise" was an absolute laugh out loud hoot. I hope this one has some great comedic moments, too. I'm so glad to see INSP bring us more movies!!!

  6. After having watched both INSP movies, I liked “Heritage Falls” more than “Savannah Sunrise”. I felt like the humor in “Savannah Sunrise” had good intentions that lead to flat results. “Heritage Falls” made my family and me laugh out loud several times.
