UP TO PREMIERE NEW SEASON OF HEARTLAND
FOR LIMITED ENGAGEMENT
UP PRESS RELEASE:
ATLANTA – August 10, 2016 – UP TV, the entertainment destination that showcases stories about modern American families and the relationships that define them, announced today that the network will premiere season nine of the multi-generational family drama Heartland for a limited time beginning Wednesday, Sept. 7. UP will air the 18 U.S. premiere episodes with three episodes every Wednesday at 8 p.m., 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET during the limited engagement before it starts airing weekly this fall on UP. Beginning in February 2017, UP’s subscription-on-demand offering, UP Faith & Family, will be the first service to make available all nine seasons of the series. Viewers can currently watch the first eight seasons on UP Faith & Family.
“UP has a passionate fan base of Heartland viewers,” said Amy Winter, evp and general manager, UP. “We are thrilled to be the first network to premiere the new season for those loyal fans, while also making the previous seasons available on UP Faith & Family for new and returning viewers who want to catch up on the series.”
Change is in the air for the Bartlett-Fleming family as new love interests, new career paths and new challenges threaten life as they know it. With familiar faces returning and new relationships forming, the family takes on intimidating challenges, grabs exciting opportunities and follows big dreams as they lean on each other for support.
“We last left Heartland with Ty and Amy’s much-anticipated wedding. This season we’ll get to see the couple adjusting to their new life together,” said Sophia Karteris Kelley, senior vice president, programming. “While they are building their happily ever after, elsewhere in the family, relationships are facing an uncertain future.”
Heartland is the longest running series in Canadian history, and UP has been the exclusive U.S. cable home of the series since 2011. Shot on location against the glorious backdrop and stunning vistas of the foothills of the Rockies, Heartland is a sprawling multi-generational saga about a family getting through life together in both happy and trying times. The series is based on Lauren Brooke’s best-selling novels, starring Amber Marshall as Amy, Michelle Morgan as her sister Lou, Shaun Johnston as Jack – Amy’s and Lou’s grandfather - and Chris Potter as Tim. Also in the cast are Graham Wardle as Ty Borden, Kerry James as Caleb Odell, Gabriel Hogan as Peter Morris, Nathaniel Arcand as Scott Cardinal, Jessica Steen as Lisa Stillman and Alisha Newton as Georgina (“Georgie”) Crawley. The executive producers are Michael Weinberg, Tom Cox and Jordy Randall. It is produced by SEVEN24 Films and Dynamo Film Inc.
