Throughout Summer 2016, "the DCOM movies will be seen on the Disney Channel, the Disney Channel app and VOD" and "All 100 DCOMs will be available for sale throughout the summer on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video and Google Play".

Ready or Not... "We're All in this Together"... (Yes, that is one of the hit songs from the original 'High School Musical', and while that is probably still the most well known DCOM of all...

I thought I would share my overall Top 5 DCOM picks:

1. Horse Sense - Forever this will be my Disney Channel favorite, starring Joey Lawrence and his brother Andrew Lawrence. It's all about saving the family horse ranch and teaching a self-centered city slicker a little thing or two about country life. This has been a family favorite for many years. A wonderful bonus to this movie, is that Joey and Andrew's brother Matthew has a fun cameo appearance.

2. Den Brother - So sweet! I simply cannot resist the true love and devotion of a big brother who takes on his little sisters scout troop. It is truly precious!

3. Cow Belles - This one stars those beautiful singing sisters, Aly & AJ Michalka! In the beginning, they are spoiled rich girls, but when times get really tough, they band together, work hard, and see the mission through. As life lessons are learned, they have a greater appreciation for their father, his work, the value of money, and true friendship.

4. Bad Hair Day - Suuuuure... This duo of adventure and mystery is odd and zany, but it works perfectly! And, of course, there not only is a bad hair day, but a jewel thief, a drivers test, and a cheating boyfriend - all just before prom! I think I laughed nearly the entire movie! So very funny!

5. Wish Upon a Star - This is another fun version of 'Vice Versa' or 'Freak Friday' where two sisters, one a beautiful popular girl at school (portrayed by Katherine Heigl) and the other, a smart, introverted tomboy (played by Danielle Harris) wish upon a star and switch bodies. They both learn along the way... "the grass in not always greener".

Well, that's 5! But, oh my - it's so hard to pick only 5, out of almost 100! Therefore, in addition to those, I'll briefly add these few more Disney Channel Original Movies that touched my heart or made me laugh, over the years, too... Jumping Ship (with all the Lawrence brothers- Joey, Matthew, and Andrew), Alley Cats Strike (a really cute bowling movie with actress Kaley Cuoco about true friendship), Eddie’s Million Dollar Cook-Off (about a boy who likes to play baseball and cook), Get a Clue (I always enjoy a fun mystery- this one stars Lindsay Lohan) , Cadet Kelly (starring Hilary Duff and Christy Carlson Romano is about learning military discipline and family loyalty), Brink (starring Erik Von Detten is not only about in-line skating, but staying true to your friends and yourself), Go Figure (this is a sweet figure skating movie, but in order to get her scholarship this young petite girl has to join the hockey team!), and of course I had to include a Christmas movie with the DCOM original comedy ‘Twas the Night, which is a comical adventure of helping Santa finish his gift-giving trip on Christmas Eve!

I'm sure you all have ones you love, too! Hope you can catch all your Disney Channel favorites this summer!

By the way, Wikipedia has a full list, here, of all 100! Disney is reporting the list of 100 begins with Under Wraps in 1997! (guess they aren't counting the movie 'Northern Lights')

Please share in the comments below - which DCOM movies you have enjoyed over the years...

  1. Wow! This is awesome and I hadn't heard about it at all. Thank you SOOO much for sharing this net. As a mom, I'm gonna be recording so many of these to share with my kids.

  2. I've seen 1 and 5. Haven't seen the other 3, but may check them out! Thanks for the list.

P.S. It shows my age, but one of my favorite Disney Cable movie was Bedazzled with Emma Samms. Before it was on cable, Child of Glass is still one that I really enjoyed.

  4. Too bad their not airing "The ultimate christmas present", that is one of my favorites. My all-time favorite is a very 80's, not very well known (I would find it airing in the middle of the night/early morning) movie called Lots of Luck with Annette Funicello, Martin Mull and a young Tracy Gold (Growing Pains). It's about a family winning the jackpot, and they go overboard with spending, with hilarious results.

  6. Wow, that sounds great, I only wish there were fewer to non commercials. Seems like over the years commercials have gotten longer and there's more of them.

  9. I hope that they show one of our family's old favorites -"My Date With The President's Daughter." I think that it's from 1998.

  10. I still like many of the early originals. Would be so nice if we could see more of those in June. CJ

  11. Disney Channel movies aren't quite like they used to be, in my opinion, so I'm looking forward to seeing some of the old ones I haven't seen for years like Alley Cats Strike and Zenon. Love your favorites, too.

  12. I was just noticing there aren't any new movies this weekend on Hallmark or UP, making this perfect timing for Disney to have this marathon. My kids were elated to see the schedule. I printed them out each a copy so they could circle two favorites they would like to record. Thanks Net for adding this excitement to our afternoon.

  13. Seriously loving this news! You made my day, Net, as I grew up watching most, if not all of these movies. If only I could watch all 100 in June!

  14. Sounds like a great marathon for Memorial Day weekend. Disney has had so many great movies over the years. I only wish they could have a separate channel for all their movies like Hallmark.

  15. I'm looking forward to the marathon,too!

My faves are Horse Sense, Jumping Ship, Motocrossed, Johnny Tsunami, Brink, Eddie's Million Dollar Cookoff, and some newer ones - Minutemen, Geek Charming, Radio Rebel.

  16. Any Zenon fans out there?! My favorite original movie from Disney.

    1. I wrote above that I love those Zenon movies, H.R. Wouldn't it be great if they could bring it back for another movie in the series. I know the lead actress does soap operas now, but they surely could do it.

  17. I have seen some of the movies you mentioned, Net. The one Disney Channel movie that has held the nearest and dearest place in my heart is “Phantom of the Megaplex”. That movie has had such a huge influence on me that I believe it has sparked my interest in movie theaters, movie themed items, and the movie going experience. I currently don’t see “Phantom of the Megaplex” on the weekend schedule, but I do hope they air that movie during the Disney Channel 100 movie celebration.

  18. After the Memorial Day weekend marathon, they will air two movies every night/early morning at 12 and 2 AM ET, and they seem to have grouped them into themes. The Christmas movies -- The Ultimate Christmas Present and Twas the Night -- are scheduled to air on June 16.
