UPDATES ADDED BELOW...
FYI: The Hallmark Hall of Fame movie "Hear My Song" has been removed from the CBS schedule lineup on Saturday night, April 16, 2016. The news came direct from CBS press and thus far, I have not discovered a reason why.
Via CBS press express- QUOTE: "The following rebroadcasts of NCIS: NEW ORLEANS and CRIMINAL MINDS replace the previously scheduled programming, HEAR MY SONG, on Saturday, April 16:"
My thoughts...
Hmmm??? I can't imagine why they pulled this movie days away from the premiere. Typically, they used to show Hallmark Hall of Fame films every year around this time to promote the Mothers Day Cards at the Hallmark Stores. Stay tuned for further updates!
UPDATE #1: TVweek.com gives a good explanation on their site as to why the movie was suddenly pulled. It will also not be shown on the Hallmark Channel or Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
UPDATE #2: Hallmark released their own statement regarding the movie, here.
That's strange.
ReplyDeleteWhat!!?? Why? Stay on top of it, Net!
ReplyDeleteWhat a strange turn of events!
ReplyDeleteweird, they havn't changed the listing on tvguide.com. Wonder why they would do that? Boxing on NBC cant be much of a threat.
ReplyDeleteReally? I can't imagine what happened. Do you think CBS and Hallmark didn't come to terms on their agreement? If they pull it off of CBS altogether and put it back on the Hallmark Channel, I mean, viewers aren't going to be real happy with that.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping the HHOF movies might return to CBS again. This is a bad sign.
ReplyDeleteWonder why no one is reporting a reason for this decision. I noticed many of the images of "Hear My Song" that you posted have April 16 in the corner and the CBS logo. This is very odd. Disappointing.
ReplyDeleteAnyone find any more news on this?
ReplyDeleteI'm not the least bit surprised, Net, are you? The key word here is "Inspirational"; not enough "diversity" for the "diverse" cbs. How sad, I'd rather watch it on Hallmark anyway!!
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with diversity? Lord knows Hallmark could use some more diversity in their programming. At the end of the day money talks and it very well could be something on Hallmark's end that caused this showing to be pulled.
DeleteDo you think CBS will show this at a different time?
ReplyDeletedisappointing news for those who don't have the hallmark channel. hope they reschedule.
ReplyDeleteWow, extremely unusual occurrence. There is definitely a story there. Wonder if we'll ever really know what happened?
ReplyDeleteForgive me, Net, and all. My post, above, was made in haste and laced with accusations not yet determined! Sometimes I find it difficult always defending morality...sorry!!
ReplyDeleteWhat's odd to me is that this doesn't appear to be a new movie. On IMDB, it says that the movie is from 2014, and there are a lot of reviews from people who saw it in 2014. The movie was originally called "Boy Choir" and has been out on DVD for some time now. This is clearly not an original Hallmark Hall of Fame production.
ReplyDeleteI think it's exactly the boxing on NBC, as well as the MMA fight on FOX. It seems to be pitting an inspirational movie against fighting and CBS didn't want to take the chance on losing out on a first run.
ReplyDeleteI thought Hallmark/HMM had the exclusive rights to air the HHOF movies. I thought CBS wasn't airing them anymore.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find odd is that CBS would pull “Hear My Song” from their schedule after spending a month and a half as well as a good amount of money promoting and sponsoring this movie. As disappointed as I am to hear this news, I’m more concerned about the success of “Hear My Song” as well as future Hallmark Hall of Fame movies.
ReplyDeleteI added a link above which gives an explanation as to why it was removed. It's a lengthy, informative article - so you'll want to click on the link for complete details.
ReplyDeleteWow that's hugely unfortunate, on a number of levels. Amazing it got to this point, with so many A-list actors, before it was pulled. Entertainment Weekly actually gave the movie a very good review. Too bad it won't be seen.
ReplyDeleteMore and current context from the original Salon.com article author - http://shonnahumphrey.com/blog/spotlight-got-it-right-hear-my-song-gets-it-wrong
ReplyDeleteThis is what I was advised by Hallmark in response to my inquiry:
ReplyDeleteHallmark Hall of Fame Hi -------- "Hear My Song" is a fictional story about a troubled but talented boy who overcomes great odds to find success. While the movie and actors were not intended to depict any particular individual, organization or institution, Hallmark was recently made aware of serious allegations of misconduct made many years ago at a school similar to the one depicted in the movie. After careful consideration, it was decided that the movie will not air on CBS, Hallmark Channel or Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Thanks for being a loyal Hallmark Hall of Fame fan. -
I still don't get why it was pulled. It's fiction.
ReplyDeleteWell, if there are charges of misconduct alleged in a choir school, I guess that they've got the right to pull the film. I guess the American Boy Choir incident caused them to make the decision.
