  1. Looks really cute - as all of Hallmarks do. :)

  2. Umm, I know that Nicolette Sheridan looks good for her age, but she is 50-something. Is her playing the mom of a five-year-old really all that credible?

  3. ^^^ And is it not weird that her former Desperate Housewives co-star, Brenda Strong, is basically the same age and playing the mother of an adult woman in the movie they're featuring the week before? Not trying to be ageist, it just jumped out at me.

I was wondering how long it would take Hallmark to change the name of the movie from "The Manny" to something else. I'm actually surprised it took them this long -- it almost seemed like they were going to keep it as "The Manny."

  6. I have to be a little negative about the actors cast in this movie. Sheridan is too old to look the part of these kids mother. 52 year olds rarely have kids. They have adults by that age. And the actor playing the manny looks much too young for her. I'll watch it, because the storyline sounds promising. I'm just not sure that it's going to work. Actors need to be believable. I just don't think these actors are.

  7. As a 50+ mother of 6 my youngest 21, this is very atypical to see a woman this age mom of 5 year old. Please there's got to be actresses more appropriate age or excellent movies for Nicolette to do.

I find it interesting that there is so much focus on Nicollette's age being a factor in playing a mom of young kids. It's not like she is 65 years old. And she is 52 in real life -- but probably not in the movie. It's not like she is playing someone who is 52 and just gave birth yesterday.

I assumed that her character in the movie was very career-driven and probably started having kids later in life than other people may start. She is 52 in real life, but she was probably playing someone in her late 40s in the movie (a lot of times actors don't play their real ages in movies). Some women have kids in their late 30s and early 40s. I have friends who are in their late 40s and they have fairly young kids. It happens. It may not be the "norm," but it happens. Also, people adopt as well. This is 2016 -- a lot of scenarios can occur now that perhaps didn't happen decades ago.

    1. She looks her age so not sure how much younger they were trying to have her play. Even as a woman in her late 40s having two young children is not that believable. Its not the norm for most of the people who watch Hallmark's movies. It just is what it is. She came across as miscast.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Whether or not it's the norm doesn't mean that it never happens. The point is, it happens. Not everything has to be the norm for it to happen.

I think Nicollette was playing someone in her late 40s, as I mentioned earlier, which is only a few years younger than she actually is. It's no different than what many actresses do in many movies. Actresses play different ages all the time -- that IS the norm. A difference of a few years is not a big deal -- for example, if she is 52 playing 48. A 48-year-old could have had a child when she was 43, or 42, or 40.

Someone who is very career-driven may have children (or adopt) later in life. We're not living in 1955. It's the 21st century. Some women well beyond their 20s and 30s have young kids, even if it is not as common.

Nicollette was one of the ones who brought this story to Hallmark, so she was personally invested in getting it made.

  9. She came across as beautiful, elegant, sophisticated and with a comedic streak a mile long. Way to go, Nicollette, and I hope you continue to entertain us for years to come!!

  10. Alas I would agree with the other comments regarding Nicolette's age; it simply didnt sit well with me that she was the mother of those children, just not age appropriate casting. She is a fab actress and I hope to see her in Hallmark movies again in future, but with children in their early twenties; or maybe even as a super hot grandma?I enjoyed this movie as

  11. Forget Sheridan's age, didn't anyone else see the daughter not even pretending to play the violin during the talent contest at the end? At least move your fingers!
