It's a Gift of Love this Christmas Season! "Coat of Many Colors" Premieres Tonight on NBC!

The Faith-Based Family Movie "Coat of Many Colors" stars Ricky Schroder, Jennifer Nettles, Gerald McRaney, and young Alyvia Alyn Lind, who portrays Country Singer Dolly Parton as a young girl.

via NBC: "Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors" is based on the inspiring true story of living legend Dolly Parton's remarkable upbringing. This once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today.

The film is set in the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains in 1955. It is neither a biopic nor a musical about Dolly's whole life and performing career, but rather a family-oriented faith-based story about the incidents in her and her family's life around the time she was nine years old.

See "Coat of Many Colors" tonight on NBC
December 10, 2015 - at 9pm/8c.

  1. I saw her on "Home and Family" speaking about this movie and did I detect a possible series scenario depending upon the popularity of this film? Hope so...

    1. Yes you did, Linda! (Btw, I saw her on there, too! Love Home & Family!) There are talks to make a second movie titled, "Jolene", also after one of Dolly's hit songs. Hope you enjoy the movie tonight!

  2. The cast in this looks great! Good to see Ricky Schroder again. Been too long. He needs to do a Hallmark movie!

    1. Actually, Ricky Schroder and his family created a Hallmark Movie Channel film a few years back titled "Our Wild Hearts". I didn't have that channel at that time so I have yet to see it, but I remember it received great ratings for HMC - that was newly growing then.

I think it would be great to see him in more Hallmark productions, as well!

  3. Oh, my gosh, Net! What a beautiful, beautiful movie this was and I'm so glad I didn't miss it. From the beginning to the end it was so heartwarming, funny and sad and I enjoyed every second of it. This is what we need and I hope Dolly continues to share the saga of her loving faith filled life with all of us.

    1. I was exactly the same. Didn't think I'd like it nearly as much as I did. The young girl who played Dolly Definetly stole the show. It was great.

  7. I loved the movie! I was surprised to see such a great story about God on local TV. Good going Dolly! Ricky Schroder, Jennifer Nettles, Gerald McRaney, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and all the kids in it were so good. I laughed and cried throughout. I would watch again.

  8. If not for your reminder I would have missed this fantastic movie last night, although I did want to let everyone know there isn't anything about Christmas in it.

  9. I wish it repeated so others could see it. And I am crazy. I kept thinking thru the whole movie-who is that mom??? I know Jennifer Nettles but with the dark hair it threw me.

  11. Rick Schroeder movies have always done very well (he's done several). That's why I'm always surprised there aren't more Westerns done on Hallmark or more movies starring him. I did notice that Luke Perry seems to be on there often in Western type roles.

I missed this movie. I hope they make it available on DVD. I saw the real coat that was made for her and it's so cute. More normal looking than the tv movie one.

  13. The final tally actually put it at 15+ million, which is excellent for a movie of this type. NBC is re-running it Christmas Eve, and plans two additional movie about Dolly's life.

    1. Thank you so much for sharing this news - however I wanted to make sure you knew... deadline.com mentions in the title it will air Christmas night December 25, but in the article they say Christmas Eve, which was a definite red flag for me because that is when It's a Wonderful Life is typically scheduled every year on NBC.... so I checked various NBC affiliates and dollyparton.com and according to those sources the movie "Coat of Many Colors" will air on the night of Christmas December 25th, 2015 at 9pm/8c.

My family was certainly captivated by it! I thought the movie "Coat of Many Colors" was truly a powerful amazing story and I am so glad you shared it will be on TV again for anyone who missed it! I pray the movie touches many more lives!!!

Thank you, again, for sharing! Merry Christmas!!!
