There are some Hallmark Hall of Fame Movies I like, and some I didn't like, and many that I have enjoyed so very much that I have those on DVD - to enjoy over and over again! It's such a shame CBS has ended it's run with the Hallmark Hall of Fame Movies. I felt having them in their line-up gave them just a little bit of class. Now, they have lost that and will continue to replaced it with garbage reality shows and violent programs they call drama.

Rose Hill, The Outsider, A Cooler Climate, My Louisiana Sky, Skylark, Sarah Plain and Tall, Fairfield Road, Daniels' Daughter, Most Wonder Time of Year, Christmas in Canaan,The Christmas Card, Sarah Plain and Tall Winters End,The Shell Seekers etc. and so many others....... wonderful movies!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a boy, my entire family waited anxiously for most of the Hallmark Hall of Fame holiday and special day presentations. The first full program I saw on TV in color was,"Eagle in a Cage (1965)." I can see why modern families can't sit still for QUALITY, serious TV, but I don't understand why the old shows of the 50s and 60s can't be made available on DVD for purchase. I was able to find the 1962 production of "Arsenic & Old Lace," but the rest just seem to be gone. I suppose that having the old productions available would seriously embarrass Hallmark, given the sap they are putting on today.

Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairy tale for what it teaches-look hard for the good on the inside of people. Years ago I contacted Hallmark about George C. Scott's Beauty and the Beast which was wonderful. I was told that due to legal problems it would be unlike to be aired on tv or on produced on dvd.
