PLOT:

The movie follows three pairs of friends as they try to find a balance when “besties go to worsties, and back again.”

"Frenemies" follows the lives of three very different sets of friends dealing with the ups and downs of friendship. The first story follows Halley (Zendaya) and Avalon (Bella Thorne), best friends who are overjoyed when a publisher wants to turn their fashion blog into a magazine, but their friendship is put to the test when they learn that the magazine only wants one of them to stay on as senior editor.

The second story follows the inseparable science-whiz Jake (Nick Robinson) and his dog, Murray. Jake is excited to introduce Murray to his new science project partner (and crush), Julianne (Stephanie Scott), but there's something about her that Murray just doesn't like – and the feeling is mutual.

In the last story, tomboy Savannah, who comes from a large high-energy family, meets privileged uptown girl Emma (Mary Mouser), who looks like her twin. The two girls become fast friends and decide to trade places for a while, but realize that life on the other side isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

Movie Review:

This wasn't a typical movie, but actually 3 different stories about the same group of friends and enemies, or rather, Frenemies.

The First Story - was my favorite of the three. A boy, Jake and his dog, Murray, have been friends forever, until this girl Julie Anne comes along and comes between them. Murray, the dog, is very smart and sees that the girl is using Jake - so he (the dog) does everything he can to break them up. However, Juile Anne sees what the dog is trying to do, so she sabotages poor Murray into behaving badly, who of course, being a dog, cannot speak up and defend himself. Jake and his own dog become frenemies... friends who have become frnemies.

... things are resolved between them - when Murray ends up missing and Jake realizes the truth. After all, a dog is a Man's best friend.

In the Second Story - 2 Best friends from the same school compete over the same "dream job" opportunity and in the process, become frenemies.

... things are resolved between them - when they realize that a life-long friendship is way more important than a job, fame, or fortune.

In the Third Story - 2 girls who just happen to look exactly alike - trade places. (Sound familliar - "Parent Trap" - however in this story they are not twins seperated by birth - just two people who happen to look alike and of course they must trade places!) In the trade-off, they mix up everyone's lives, including their own, also becoming frenemies.

... things are resolved between them, as well - and there is a reconciliation that turns the frenemies back into friends.

All the stories are innocent and sweet - perfect for young and pre-teen viewers. A great Disney film for family viewing!
