Memories of Christmas 2008

Oh, I can't hardly believe it is December 30 already! Where did the Christmas Season go? Christmas is my most, most, most... Favorite Time of the Year... and so quickly it has slipped away.

What a precious time it was... I cherish the day and time spent with family.

Our tradition is for us all to get ready in the morning, we still wear our jammies, though... have breakfast together, read the Christmas story from the Bible, Luke 2... , then open Christmas presents one by one! It's a wonderful family time. We are so blessed. We took lots of pictures and I cherish them!

I hope you all have precious memories of this Christmas and Christmases that have passed!

--------------------------------------------
Luke 2

The Birth of Jesus

1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to his own town to register.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Shepherds and the Angels

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.

19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

It's Almost Christmas!

It's almost Christmas!!! I love the Spirit we feel, even more so than ever.. at this time of year. It is indeed the Most Wonderful Time of the Year... where we celebrate the Christ Child's Birth and gather with family, friends, and loved ones!

We give each other "special meaningful gifts" and "silly" and sometimes... "thank goodness its returnable" gifts, too... but the best Gift of all was born in a manger thousands of years ago... "a Savior, which is Christ the Lord!"

If you are looking for the true meaning of this Season and Life, as well... then please click here to read the Christmas Story.

Last night we baked Christmas Sugar-Cookies and watched Christmas Movies on TV. Oh, how I love the smell of nutmeg and a warm cookie and milk.

Merry CHRISTmas and God Bless Us, Everyone!

6 Days til Christmas!!!

6 Days til Christmas... it's almost hard to believe it! It won't be long now before Santa will be coming down all of our chimneys!

I've tried to watch as many of the new Christmas Movies... as possible, however I've had to record some and I'll have to catch up with them after Christmas.

I am so glad we have the Hallmark Channel. By far, I think they have had the very best family Christmas Movies this year.

I'm off to go do some wrapping now.... while White Christmas plays on Lifetime!

God bless & Merry CHRISTmas!!!

Reviews of New Christmas Movies... thus far!

It is now (unbelievably) less than 2 weeks from Christmas and many of us are still buzzing about... like busy little bees - still shopping and hunting for those special gifts, baking Christmas goodies, decorating the house, wrapping gifts, .... hopefully visiting the It's a Wonderful CHRISTmas TV Schedule, and possibly.... maybe finding a few minutes in the evening to cozy up by the fireplace and watch an old favorite or new... Christmas Movie!

There have only been a hand full of premieres, thus far... and there are many more to come as the days get closer to Christmas!

So far, I have watched the following movies listed below. I will rate them from 1 to 5 .... 5 being the best.

NEW MOVIES:

An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving ( 4 of 5 )

Moonlight & Mistletoe ( 4 of 5 )

Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh (1 of 5)

The Christmas Choir (4.5 of 5)

Front of the Class (5 of 5)

Macy's Presents: Little Spirit, Christmas in New York (2.5 of 5)

Christmas Town (2 of 5)

Okay, so the Front of the Class was not technically a Christmas Movie.... but there was a brief mention of Thanksgiving and Christmas! It was such a beautiful inspiring movie of a young boy and man who was determined to become a teacher in spite of having tourette's syndrome. I haven't loved a movie like that in a long time. I loved it!

I'll have more... fuller reviews of these movies on the Movie Reviews page in the coming days.

Have a Blessed Merry CHRISTmas!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to You and Yours!!!

I hope you are able to share this day with your family and those you love!

I'll leave you with the words to one of my favorite Thanksgiving songs...
God bless you all!

"We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing:
Sing praises to his Name; he forgets not his own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning:
Thou, Lord, wast at our side: all glory be thine!

We all do extol thee, thou Leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our Defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation:
Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!"

Fireproof

I was so blessed by the Behind the Scenes Making of Fiireproof, which aired late last week on TBN. What an amazing Christian atmosphere went into making this movie... why it is certainly more than just a movie - it's a ministry.

The movie stars Kirk Cameron... a favorite actor of mine going back to his days as Mike Seaver on Growing Pains. I have enjoyed following his career and life story. The Way of the Master Program that he and Ray Comfort have developed together is a powerful and amazing tool to lead non-believers to Christ.

It was so interesting to see all the details that went into making the movie... in the Behind the Scenes Making of Fireproof... and how all the people participating weren't paid a penny - they were all there to serve! I was especially taken and blessed by one scene where a car is stuck on the train tracks and a train is coming and they have to get the car out of the way fast ... well in order to make this scene happen they needed a backhoe to move the car around- and amazingly enough the man who lived next door to the train tracks where they were filming - not only had a backhoe, but was such a fan of their other movies - Flywheel and Facing the Giants (I like those movies, too!) ... that he offered his services and the backhoe for free.

Here's the Description of the Movie from the Official Web-site - http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/:

At work, inside burning buildings, Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter's adage: Never leave your partner behind. At home, in the cooling embers of his marriage, he lives by his own rules.

Growing up, Catherine Holt always dreamed of marrying a loving, brave firefighter...just like her daddy. Now, after seven years of marriage, Catherine wonders when she stopped being "good enough" for her husband.

Regular arguments over jobs, finances, housework, and outside interests have readied them both to move on to something with more sparks.

As the couple prepares to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb's father challenges his son to commit to a 40-day experiment: "The Love Dare." Wondering if it's even worth the effort, Caleb agrees-for his father's sake more than for his marriage. When Caleb discovers the book's daily challenges are tied into his parents' newfound faith, his already limited interest is further dampened.

While trying to stay true to his promise, Caleb becomes frustrated time and again. He finally asks his father, "How am I supposed to show love to somebody who constantly rejects me?"

When his father explains that this is the love Christ shows to us, Caleb makes a life-changing commitment to love God. And with God's help he begins to understand what it means to truly love his wife.

But is it too late to fireproof his marriage? His job is to rescue others. Now Caleb Holt is ready to face his toughest job ever...rescuing his wife's heart.

I am so looking forward to seeing this movie. The Rating is PG-13, but I suspect that it is due to the violence of the firefighting scenes. I just thought I would pass along to you all how wonderful the Making of the Movie was and encourage you to see it, if you have the opportunity.
The Making of the Movie airs again tonight-

Making of 'Fireproof'
TBN -- 09/27/2008 2:00 AM
Hope you all can catch it!

Yay! I'm so excited!!!! I actually have my very own web domain now on the internet. It's http://www.itsawonderfulmovie.com/. Please feel free to pass it on...

I created the title: It's A Wonderful Movie based upon my ultimate favorite movie - "It's A Wonderful Life"! Fireworks & Christmas Movies in July

I've never really cared for the label... "Christmas in July". To me, Christmas is strictly in December, with the cold and the snow... the hustle and bustle, and the celebration centering around the Christ Child's birth. I love that Special time of year, and I love July, as well.... but July is wonderful in it's own right.

The Fourth of July is a grand event. It makes you think of freedom, our Troops who fight for us today, our heroic Veterans, fireworks, picnics, strolls through the park, outdoor games, and lots of fond family memories!

There are some Fun Family 4th of July Shows airing on TV, including:

July 3rd, 2008 Thursday

Chicago's Summer Blast: Fireworks & the Taste of Chicago WGN 10 PM

July 4th, 2008 Friday

Capitol Fourth PBS 8 PM (check local)

4th of July Live! TRAVEL Channel 9 PM

Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular NBC 9 PM (check local)

Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular CBS 10 PM (check local)

There are also some Christmas Movies, however, airing in July... and even though I don't like the label Christmas in July, I do love CHRISTMAS MOVIES all year round!!! I'm a sucker for them anytime of the year... so I am thrilled to see that Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network will be playing some of my favorites, including....

On the Second Day of Christmas, Christmas Child, Family Holiday, Borrowed Hearts, and More!

Happy 4th of July! God Bless America and our Troops!

Favorite Wedding DVD's

I wanted to share my favorite Wedding DVD's that are currently featured on my web-site...

Father of the Bride

Wedding Daze

The Waltons Season 5 (featuring Mary Ellen's Wedding)

I love all of these Wedding Shows. First of all, Steve Martin portrays the best Father of the Bride... who wants to protect his daughter and his wallet! He is protective, caring, emotional, funny, and so sweet! I fall in love with this movie every time I see it. I even heard that First Lady Mrs. Bush gave this dvd to President Bush to watch before their daughter, Jenna's wedding.

Wedding Daze carries on in the same sort of tradition of Father of the Bride. John Larroquette plays the father this time around, but instead of just wanting to protect one daughter and his wallet.... he has to worry about 3 of his daughters... all getting married, at the same time, on the same Day!!! It's just as sweet, innocent, decent, and fun as Father of the Bride.

The Waltons Seasons 5 features the wedding of Mary Ellen. The older Walton Children are all certainly growing up and life on the Mountain is changing as we enter into Season 5. Mary Ellen, at first finds herself engaged to David Spencer, but very much attracted to the new Doctor, Curt Willard. Who will she ultimately choose? It's a love triangle of great Chemistry, Mystery, and Intrigue... and just as warm and wonderful as each episode of The Waltons is!

If you love The Waltons, then please stop by and visit my web-site, A walk with Grandpa Walton... and the Walton Family.

Do you love these Wedding DVDs / shows or do you have other Wedding Movies, you also enjoy?

Camp Rock - Movie Review

Camp Rock was a decent and somewhat cheesy, but fun movie for young children and pre-teens. No worries about any language, or any other inappropriate behavior - which I have to admit is refreshing in today's age.

It's definitely a movie the family can watch together. The DVD says NR (Not Rated) but I think it is pretty safe to say that it is very "G". I'm not sure if it will hold the interest of much younger viewers between Musical Scores, but it's a safe bet that many kids will love hearing and seeing the Jonas Brothers.

So.... should you SEE IT? or SKIP IT? I Vote SEE IT!

Camp Rock Premiere + American Girl Movie

Move over High School Musical... Camp Rock is the newest Disney Channel Original Movie Premiering tonight on the Disney Channel from 8 PM to 10 PM. The Movie stars Alyson Stoner, who has done a lot of work for the Disney Channel... she was the tom boy, Sarah Baker, in the Cheaper by the Dozen movies and she played Max, a friend of the Sprouse Twins, on the Suite Life of Zack & Cody... and she has done lots of other work and voice-overs. The main stars of the film are the Jonas Brothers, (who are already well known from their Music Videos, CDs, and guest appearance on Hannah Montana) pictured to the left, Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas.... and the movie introduces Demi Lovato and Meaghan Jette Martin.

Unfortunately, an expensive music camp is a bit out of reach for her family, but her mother gets a job as Camp Rock's cook so that Mitchie can attend as long as she helps out in the kitchen between classes. Befriended by fellow camp member Caitlyn (Alyson Stoner) but intimidated by the immensely talented Tess Tyler (Meaghan Jette Martin) and her friends Peggy (Jasmine Richards) and Ella (Anna Maria Perez de Tagle), Mitchie lives a double life hiding that she is the cook's daughter and posing as a well-to-do camper in order to become part of the hottest clique at camp. When she's overheard singing, but not seen, by teen pop star and celebrity camp instructor, plus lead singer of Connect Three, Shane Gray (Joe Jonas), he is completely taken and sets out to find the girl behind the beautiful voice. First Blog

Introduction-

This is my first post for this Blog. I have kept other blogs before - but just wasn't pleased with the overall look, with ads and such, and so I recently switched to Blogger because of the cleaner look of design. I hope this will be a lot of fun and I look forward to hearing back from those of you, who view my web-site looking for family movies.

About Me-

I love the Lord, Jesus Christ, and my precious family with all my heart! For fun, I love creating and designing on the internet and sharing my joy for watching family made movies. I hope you will enjoy my take and reviews on movies!

It's a Wonderful... Family Movie Night-

My web-site originally started in October of 2007, as It's a Wonderful CHRISTmas! At that time, the web-site was solely based around CHRISTmas and a TV Movie page that listed all the Family Favorite Christmas Specials and Movies I could find on Television from October to December. Those Christmas web-pages still remain here. And the Christmas TV Schedule - that everyone loved, will be back again in October of 2008! Until then, you can visit the Family TV Schedule for all the family friendly films that are currently airing on TV.

In January of 2008, I started to branch the "It's a Wonderful CHRISTmas" web-site out to the all new - "It's a Wonderful... Family Movie Night" web-site! It's a nice way to keep track of all the wonderful movies that air on TV throughout the year, (and sometimes at the theater, too!) that the family can grab a bowl of buttered popcorn and watch together!

God bless,
