Remembering Legendary Actor Tim Conway

"Surprised by Love" image: Hallmark Crown Media

We solemnly say goodbye today to actor and comedian Tim Conway, who was one of the stars of the classic 'The Carol Burnett Show'.

As Hallmark viewers- we are blessed that one of Mr. Conway's last projects was co-starring in the romantic comedy, "Surprised by Love" in 2015, along with Hilarie Burton and Paul Campbell. What an incredible talent he was at making people laugh.

Tim Conway was born on December 15th, 1933 in Willoughby, Ohio. As a young man he served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. His journey to stardom began when he started working for a radio station. From there, he started writing skits in between CBS morning movies and he was discovered!

As a 6-Time Emmy Winner, Tim Conway has 124 movies, tv shows, etc... in his acting credit, including the classic Disney movie, 'The Apple Dumpling Gang' from 1975, with Don Knotts.

Our hearts and prayers go out to his dear friends, family, his children, and grandchildren...

  1. This past weekend, I happened to find The Carol Burnett Show on Amazon Prime and watched a few. Tim Conway was a guest star because these were the ones prior to his being a regular on the show. It was so funny, so great. I was saddened today to hear of his passing, especially since I had just begun to rewatch this amazing series. I'm moved and so very glad he brought the world so much laughter. RIP Mr. Conway.

    1. Oh, Melissa... I know just what you mean. Just last week I watched a Doris Day movie I had never seen and was so taken, once again, by her incredible talent to entertain, whether it be a drama or comedy. With Tim's passing, I'm sure many will discover 'The Carol Burnett Show'. I've only seen bits and pieces of it on TV, when they sometimes show highlights and things... the dentist episode looks absolutely hilarious, especially because you know they are trying so hard not to laugh.

Thank you so much for sharing. What a wonderful legacy Tim Conway has left... to bring joy to you and so many others.

      Blessings to you, Net

  3. So sad to lose two true Hollywood icons in two days! Anyone watching Tim Conway on the Carol Burnett show would, I assume, agree that he was one of the funniest guys around and was a major reason why that show was such a success for so many years!

    1. Yes, it is such a sad loss, Mark 25. It was revealed that Tim had dementia, so I'm sure that was a factor. I personally know how difficult that can be, so my heart goes out deeply to his family.

    1. Yes, he will. It's a sad loss for us all. It is too bad he couldn't have made more Hallmark movies - where he could've spoken more.

Like Ernest Borgnine ("A Grandpa for Christmas"), he was ideal for the grandfather role. (By the way, they were good friends)

Thank you for sharing! Blessings, Net

  5. Aww, I'm so sorry to hear this. He's not someone I knew by name before seeing your post, but I thought his delightful character in Surprised by Love took the whole movie up a notch! It's an all time favorite of mine. Can't you imagine the fun such a fabulous cast must have had on set?!
Much sympathy to Mr. Conway's friends and family.

    1. Hello Alicia... Thank you for adding your sympathies for Tim Conway.

I know he was well loved on the set of "Surprised by Love." Paul Campbell shared a picture with him and how he made them all laugh with filming. Tim being in it certainly did make it extra special!

I appreciate you taking the time to share.
