HALLMARK CHRISTMAS MOVIE SEQUEL NEWS: πŸŽ„ CHRISTMAS IN EVERGREEN πŸŽ„ HERE WE COME - AGAIN!!!

Hop in the classic 1954 Mercury red pickup truck and enjoy the ride back this Christmas to the quaint town of Evergreen, inspired by the work of Hallmark artist Geoff Greenleaf's Christmas illustrations.

The sequel to Christmas in Evergreen is titled...
"Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa."

According to
countryliving.com: "The movie will star several original cast members including actresses Ashley Williams ("October Kiss"), Holly Robinson Peete ("Morning Show Mystery"), and Barbara Niven ("Chesapeake Shores"), plus a few new faces including Jill Wagner ("Pearl in Paradise") and Mark Deklin ("Switched for Christmas")."

I have also learned... returning from the original movie is Malcolm Stewart ("Surprised by Love"), who portrayed Barbara Niven's husband and Ashley Williams' father in the first "Christmas in Evergreen" film.

Storyline via countryliving.com: "In this new Yuletide movie, viewers will be transported back to the beautiful, fictional small town where Lisa (Jill Wagner) is busy repairing the community's abandoned General Store ahead of the holidays. With a little help from the rest of the townspeople, she'll deliver a special, lost letter to the North Pole while trying to restore the Christmas spirit in her Vermont village."

    1. I"m with you Mark. I loved this movie last year. Has that wonderful mystical Christmas feel to it.

I am a little confused though. Maybe some of you can help. The press release says Ashley Williams (last year's star) is starring and returning again in this year's movie yet it also sounds like the story line is based around Jill Wagner's character and she will be the star character? A combination of both? Maybe Ashley Williams has a lesser role this year?

    2. Thank you for sharing, Mark! There may be more cast members from the original, but I haven't heard any news, yet, in regard to Teddy Spears or Jaeda Lily Miller, who (the latter) recently joined the cast of "When Calls the Heart." I'm thinking it's likely they will be mentioned, but not seen, especially since the story focus this time around is centered around Jill Wagner. If that's the case, I'll definitely miss them too!

    3. Jim, That sounds right to me. With an ensemble cast such as this, there will surely be less air time for some of the actors, including Ashley Williams and Holly Robinson Peete, who typically play the leading lady.

It does sound, as you said, like they are taking a lesser role while Jill takes the lead. Perhaps this is how they planned this series to go from the beginning. Maybe Holly will be the lead next year, if they do another?

Plus, the movie wouldn't be the same without that truck!

  4. I am excited to hear about this sequel as I did enjoy the first movie and love watching the actors who have been added for this new movie. I still hold out hope that someday my wish for a 9 Lives sequel comes - firemen and cats were a winning combination for me.

    1. Dee, I share your excitement! This sequel sounds like such a wonderful trip back to Evergreen, plus I also adore Jill Wagner! She's such a sweetheart! And, Ashley, too! I have had the honor to interview both of these ladies, and they were both so kind and sweet!

I, too, would love to see a "Nine Lives of Christmas" sequel, as long as they could get the same cast to return, and...of course, they would need a really good story for Zachary (Brandon Routh) and Marilee (Kimberley Sustad)! Those two were absolutely magic on screen together and separately!

Thank you so much for your comment, Dee! I've seen some others asking for a 9 Lives sequel on social media, so you never know!

    1. Thank you for sharing, Aberry555! That is truly wonderful that you grew up in a town like Evergreen. Small towns can be so homey and nice... everyone knows one another... and they are always there for one another whenever there is a need or a reason to celebrate!

And "Christmas in Evergreen" #2 is definitely a reason to celebrate! Again, I so appreciate you sharing!

    1. Oh, YES!!! I'm super excited about "A Godwink Christmas", the story, the cast, and the creators of this film!

I shared news about this upcoming production *here*, and I was honored that the writer, SQuire Rushnell, of the Godwink book series responded there in the comments.

Thank you for taking the time to share. I appreciate it so much! Hope you enjoy my post on "A Godwink Christmas," and if you're interested, I have a list of upcoming Christmas movies - *here*.

  7. Oh, Net, I love the newly added cast and will miss some of the ones who wont be returning. Ashley and the beautiful red truck is a must or it wouldn't be "Evergreen". The town is wonderful and wouldn't it be great if they would continue a Christmas yearly saga like "Father Christmas"!

    1. Yes, that would be wonderful, Linda, if they kept this series going! I love Evergreen, it's such a wonderful, ideal, warm & welcoming Christmas town!

Maybe, if they do more next year, Ashley's sister Kimberley can also visit Evergreen! That would be interesting! I know the sisters have another project "in the works," but this would be fun, too! :)

    2. Oh yes, Net, wasn't Kimberly wonderful in "Follow the Stars Home"? She made me cry in many parts but what a joyful ending! I would love to see her in an Evergreen sequel.

    3. So true, Linda! Kimberly is fantastic at the dramatic and comedy roles, like "Follow the Stars Home" and "The Christmas Train"! I can only imagine how neat it would be to have both Kimberly and Ashley together! I sure hope their movie project happens one day!

  8. Oh, I can't wait for the Hallmark Christmas movies, Net! I did actually see Christmas in Evergreen, and I enjoyed it. I was wondering, do they have new movies coming out each year, or are they going to show some of the same movies from past Christmas'? I just love The Christmas Train, and I think I've watched The Christmas Card a dozen times. That's one of my favorites.

Enjoy the last of the Summer days, Net.

    1. Sheri, It's wonderful to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed "Christmas in Evergreen." Hallmark is truly fantastic at giving us these delightful family Christmas films.

The Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will have a combined 30+ NEW Christmas movies this holiday season, but they will also be airing the recent films from past years and the beloved classics we love, as well.

I hope you also enjoy these lovely Summer days! :)
